I am ashamed to be an American today. We have now sanctioned the torture of our men, using any manner of horrors, when they are captured by the enemy. We will have no moral ground upon which to stand and claim outrage. We have become our own worst enemy. We have become what we so despise.

Bush, delivering the latest in a series of speeches on the fight against terror, admitted to setbacks in Afghanistan on Friday, particularly in the training of police. But he predicted ultimate victory over resurgent Taliban forces there and against terrorists everywhere.
He lashed out anew at critics “who make a case that, by fighting the terrorists, we’re making our people less secure here at home. This argument buys into the enemy’s propaganda that the terrorists attack us because we’re provoking them,” he said.

Actually, a contract is an exchange of promises–Party A agrees to do X if Party B will do Y. Breach of contract suits are based on one (or both) party(ies) failing to fulfill contractual promises. I think ample evidence suggests that private parties involved in Iraq have failed to meet their contractual obligations to the military. They should be sued. If failure to meet the terms of their obligations is established, then they can be forced to repay their ill-gotten gains to the government. Of course, this scenario would require that someone in our federal government actually believes in accountability and responsibility. Those concepts are entirely alien to the Bush Administration and the lapdog Congress.

I haven’t seen any contracts published in the newspapers. What I have seen is tons of spiteful rhetoric by people who haven’t read the contracts, claiming to plan on taking back the money. KBR is delivering on their contracts daily in Iraq. Ask Darcy who is feeding her brother in Iraq 3 meals a day, who provides the showers and latrines for her brother every day, who is laundering his uniforms and washing his underwear? Who is providing the tents with telephones and computers for her brother to phone home? Who is providing the gym equipment, the satellites, the TV’s, etc, etc, etc, ad nauseum………..
