Not so good for Christine O’Donnell:

Exodus 22:18
Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.

Sarah Palin’s minister said much the same thing … only he proposed real action.

Has Witch O’Donnell properly renounced her obedience to Satan? If not, then shouldn’t someone ask Sarah Palin’s church for their help in this vital matter,

    Liberal Scientist spews:

Of course you cannot allow a witch to live.

Think about it, ‘witches’ tend to be women with some measure of power. Usually versed in some sort of herbalism, they could offer practical and even possibly efficacious remedies. They likely had their own mythology, and that in itself was a bit of competition that the men that claimed to be conversing with God directly. The witch’s mythology likely derived in some measure from animism and some degree of observation of natural phenomena, and therefore they likely had some facility observing patterns and making prediction that were a bit better than random – and if about things like crops and weather, that could be pretty valuable.

So, like I said, women with power? Kill them.

    Beckoner spews:

This problem with ex witches is very real.

We had a person in my church for about 9 mths who professes to have been a witch prior to conversion. He came to us with “church hurts” having left several other churches previously.

Let me say right off that I truly love this person in the Lord, but I do not trust him. I want to be able to help this person as well as understand this person. However, there is something about him that conflicts with my spirit and I cannot put my finger on what it is.

I am asking God for discernment to know if this person has truly converted or has been sent by the enemy to infiltrate the church by gaining our trust. This person has given a considerable amount of money to the church and has a very controlling personality. There are frequent outbursts of attention seeking behavior, especially during prayer time or worship, like gasping for air as though choking, which stops what is going on and draws attention to him. He states that this was an “spiritual attack”.

I believe this person is astro projecting to watch people in the church. A new baby Christian came to me and told me that he had a vision in the night of this person watching him. THis really concerns me, as astro projection is something this person practiced in the past and has spoken about.

    Liberal Scientist spews:

As exhibited by the loon @6, this preoccupation with witchcraft among the Christianist reveals both a paranoia and a credulity that is jaw-dropping.

I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised that their leaders embrace this – this witchy thing is a perfect vehicle for branding people they see as threats and mobilizing their sheeple to attack the outsider.

  6. 9

    Liberal Scientist spews:

    @7
Terrifying. I wish they would just go off to some corner of the planet and prey (spelling correct) on each other and leave the rest of us sane people alone.
I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised at this relentless quest for power that these charlatans display – Billy Graham, Falwell, the C Street people (really scary), Palin, etc. This is just another way to mobilize and fleece the rubes.

Christine O’Donnell is a piker by comparison.

    slingshot spews:

“This problem with ex witches is very real”.

Is it ever. A fellow can’t stride half a block without being inundated with requests for a spare eye of newt, or any loose toe of frog. With two wars, the economy in the toilet, the housing market slump and a secret mooslim in the White House, rampant witchery trumps them all.

  8. 11

    Liberal Scientist spews:

    @10
Do you suppose the loon at 6 searches the net for the term ‘witch’ and then leaves his droppings on whatever discussion he finds?

And what about the terminology – ‘ex witch’? Isn’t what you and he both describe the actions of active witches? I think you both are being taken in and lulled into a false sense of security thinking these evil beings are in any way “ex” in their witchy activity.

  9. 12

    Beckoner spews:

Why do you think this is funny?

The witches never went away, they just hid. Worse yet, they resent all true Christians for taking their power away.

Personally, I do not think O’Donnell ever was a witch. She is, for one thing, far too pretty.

I suspect this was more of a childhood fantasy. What is more worrisome are the powerful women in the Democunts. Do you really believe Pelosi is a “catholic?”

LS: “Beckoner” has “graced” this blog before. His shit is opaque nonsense, to the point where I posit that he may be a satire of a rightwing religious bigot.

    @6 and 12, Beckonan:

LS has probably correctly characterized you as a loon.

Your post at 6 was so wacked it could readily be confused with satire. However, I note you cutnpasted the comment at the link proffered by someone ID’d as a “Pastor”. Multiple layers of sockpuppetry therein.

“Pastor” or not, your post at 12 confirms you are a loon and a typical rightwingnut bigot hypocrit.

BTW: It’s astral vice astro, dipshit.

The rapture can’t come too soon in your case.

  11. 15

    Deathfrogg spews:

    @ Beckoner

If the devil wanted to seduce you, would he approach you as a repellant ugliness, or an attractive beautiful thing?

The devils greatest trick, is not to convince the religious that there is no god, but to convince the faithful that he is god, quoting scripture, presenting miracles and claiming great knowledge of the faith and the words thereof. Claiming, very convincingly to be the truth of the way. With words that already would ring true to the words already learned, but designed to mislead and betray.

In other words, Satan is a Republican, and a conservative.

  12. 16

    rob spews:

The witches never went away, they just hid. Worse yet, they resent all true Christians for being muderous assholes who killed them for no good reason.

    Fixed.

Do you really believe Pelosi is a “catholic?”

Since “catholics” seem to be in favor of child rape and other atrocities, I hope not.

I am reminded of the anti-kiddieporn crusader from back in the late 90’s. I do not remember his name at the moment, but as I recall, he openly touted his thousands of hours of research on the subject, and his vast collection of images of kids engaged in sexual acts or poses.

The heretical mockery here only serves to express the divine correctness of the Holy War against Heresy that is being waged in righteousness by our God given rulers, Ferdinand and Isabelle. Yes, I understand that the working of the wheel and the rack is a dirty business, but it is God’s business, and not for us to question in inpudence and doubt. Torquemada’s task is a terrible burden to him, and he should be rewarded with your piety and devotion rather than with your scorn.

    Re 9

Yeah. Billy Graham is a jerk and a thief!

His ministry had an annual budget of 88 million in the year prior to his retirement. Of this 85% is program expense, the remaining 15 percent split between fundraising and administrative expenses. You can and do disagree with the point or philosophy of his ministry, but to question his integrity is ignorant, based on your own bigotry.

And Graham makes out like a bandit, too, the old hypocrite! He made 200,000 dollars in salary to administer this organization in his last active year prior to retirement. This was a salary voted by a board, not one he assigned himself.

Want to talk hypocrisy? Fine. It exists. Want to slander one of the most honorable men in America based on your bigotry? That shows more about you than about Billy Graham.

Before you ask, the information on Billy Grahams ministry is here. http://www.charitynavigator.or.....orgid=3367

This is an organization that generally rates religious charities with disdain, feeling that a christian ministry undermines ‘true’ charity. I chose this rating only so that no claim of bias could be made on account of source. For personal use, I use a different rating service for charities.

Lighten up. It was just intended for humor, not a heavy comment on women and their role in society and faith. Sheesh. Actually the Devils Dictionary is good light fun.

I didn’t write 22, take it up with whoever did. You know, the guy who thinks the Spanish Inquisition is a current event.

BTW, Christian isn’t spelled with an X. Thought you should know, as you seem confused.

    Zotz,

Grow up. Only adolescent boys think words like ‘pussy’ and the concept of crotch itch funny. I bet you still think fart jokes are hilarious too.

  27. 33

    lostinaseaofblue spews:

    Rob,

Off to the park. If you do read the Devils Dictionary, there is a palpable note of misogyny in it. But there’s funny stuff about politics, and more to the point for you, religion in it as well.

I like Mark Twain, but don’t use the word ‘nigger’ either mentally or verbally. I like Dante, but don’t buy the concept of purgatory. And I like Bierce, but this doesn’t make me a misogynist. Point is, authors can be ahead of their own time, but behind ours. They can be brilliant but flawed. It doesn’t pay to pick them apart on this basis, when simply enjoying what and who they are is much easier and more rewarding.

As for his salary, tell me grasshopper how he became wealthy n this modest salary? Did he pay for his mansion out of his penury?

My taste in the good and godly runs more to those willing to give of themselves.

  29. 35

    Steve spews:

@31 “I’m unfamiliar with any of that in Grahams record.”

The Nixon tapes. Have you ever heard of those?

After signing on to a bigoted Tricky D rant, Billy G sez to him, “They don’t know how I really feel about what they’re doing to this country.”

It looks like you don’t know much about Billy either.

  30. 36

    Liberal Scientist spews:

    @35
and it was Graham’s coziness with Nixon that I most had in mind when I included him in my comment above. These people, like Republicans in general, are in thrall of power – they lust after it and do anything they can to be near it, or grab some for themselves. Their particular MO is just to play the holy man/woman on TV. It’s still all about fleecing the rubes.

  31. 39

    Steve spews:

Having been a practicing Pagan for nearly 40 years, I find many of these arguments interesting. Old and far too familiar but interesting.

Pagans are of many beliefs and dogmas. Some are Pagan because of how they were raised, lashing out at their strict Christian upbringing. Some come to Paganism through study and investigation. Others happen upon it through friends and social encounters. No one is forced to become Pagan.

One of my dearest friends had a daughter who married into a devout Baptist family. She converted and went into full Bible Thumper mode. Her minister and fellow churchers drove a steel wedge between her and her mother. When her mother was diagnosed with cancer, our Circle came together for her healing. There was much love at the ceremony but no daughter.

Toward the end, we nurtured her and prepared her for her journey to the Summerlands (Pagan Heaven, if you will) All she got from her daughter was “You’re going to Hell.” She passed with all of her friends and loved one nearby with one disappointing exception, her daughter.

Now, some years later, her daughter has taken her kids and left the Church. She has great regret for what the Baptist church convinced her to do while her mother was ill. Her mother died without her daughter near and this weighs heavily on her. She will feel a great hole in her heart for the rest of her life because of this.

Pagans are people. They are your neighbors, the clerk at the grocery store or the guy who delivers the pizza. They are lawyers and doctors, business people and teachers, from all parts of the community. They are us.

Read what Beckoner said @6 and @12. This is what mainstream Christians think of Pagans. If a teacher is outed as a Pagan, they will lose their job. A clerk at a Mom and Pop store could be asked to leave for no other reason than the way their exercise their ‘freedom of religion’.

We can dismiss Beckoner as a loon here but he is not alone. If a witch was to be lynched today, how big a crowd would gather?

  33. 42

    lostknowsfunnyandyouaintit spews:

@ 22 – Leave the comedy to conservatives. Progressives are never funny no matter how hard they try, because they don’t apply themselves, instead expecting the Government to be funny for them. This in part explains why Stephen Colbert is funny, but his progressive counterpart, John Stewart is too painful for words. Before you embarrass yourself again, you should read George Wallace’s 1965 “Reflections on Satire and Humor from the Montgomery County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office”. This seminal work is a must read for any aspiring satirist.

(1.) Graham’s remarks about Jews is standard issue wingnut crap, and not at all unusual…but his praise for Comrade Kim Ill Sung (the Great and Glorious Leader of the Inevitable Great and Good Proletarian Revolution) is, well…odd.
(2.) Accumulating several million dollars over 50+ years running his tent shows would not be that hard. Absent evidence to the contrary, he appears to not be overly greedy (of course the ministry pays for all those overseas trips!).

I’m a small “l” libertarian-Republican who votes for the GOP and FDR was a traitor! My idea of limited government includes waging endless war on Islam, no taxes on the producers, denying gays equal rights and the pursuit of happiness, and monitoring women’s wombs to catch those horrid murderesses before they kill our nation’s little baby zygotes and blastocysts. It’s because they don’t exist. She made it up. How do I know? because if she “dabbled” in witchcraft, she would know something about it. Satanic rituals at the alter have nothing to do with Wicca. It didn’t happen.

She made it up like a school kid trying to impress by concocting an outlandish story.
