Finally, we are getting some clarity in the Washington state gubernatorial race. The last four consecuitve polls have had Gregoire up by +2%—all within the margin of error.
A new SurveyUSA poll shows Gov. Christine Gregoire (D) leading Dino Rossi (“G.O.P. Party”) by a modest +6% (52% to 46%). The poll of 663 likely voters was taken from 30-Oct to 02-Nov and has a margin of error of ±3.9%.
The same poll also found Sen. Barack Obama leading Sen. John McCain in the state by a +16% margin (56% to 40%).

Woohoo!!! We’re lookin’ good.
Everyone please vote!!!
notaboomer spews:
52-46 is 6 not 16. 52-36?
Roger Rabbit spews:
Gregoire has a new radio spot excoriating “Yacht Club Rossi” for telling a Port Angeles Yacht Club audience he’ll cut unemployment benefits. Maybe ads like this are hitting home for some voters.
Ed spews:
Fools are voting for obama and gregoire.
Where going to have riots when he doesn’t pay for Gas, mortgage, food, cigarettes and coffee.
Kevin J spews:
I think you mean 57-41; that would be a 16 pt lead.

Did you see the picture of the PA Yacht Club??
It’s a dump!
Makes Gregoire look like a dumbass for trying to make it sound like some high-class joint…which it ain’t.
Mr. Cynical spews:
This poll has O-blah-blah up by 16 points.
I felt if it is 11 or less, Rossi wins.
We’ll see.
CC "Bud" Baxter spews:
Sick of negative Rossi ads. The one about the baby and the diaper is particularly offensive.
notaboomer spews:
hey that geov-joel back and forth under smear job is good stuff. i don’t find geov’s writing insipid or boring. joel, otoh, always strikes me as a writer with a personal political agenda who drives me nuts most of the time. the main complaint is about joel’s repeated willingness to repeat the “reichert is moderate” bullshit talking point in so many columns.
Mr. Cynical spews:
Strategic Vision only has O-blah-blah up by 12 points..and Gregoire by 2 points.
Also, SV shows Gregoire with only 45% favorable rating. Not good.
She is gonna lose.

early concession speech. sweet!

As anyone who bothered to go to the link you provided at SurveyUSA, your post has a typo — w/ Obama @ 56%, McCain @ 40% (not 46).
I didn’t see the latest poll for Wash. State, but as I said in a comment at your post below (and at my own blog post on predictions), it matches my prediction of
Gregoire getting 53%, Rossi 47%
The thug will fade to the utter obscurity he deserves.
The only concern is the survey ? asked “would you vote for the REPUBLICAN Rossi…” while he’s decided to confuse things w/ a fake party, “GOP” on the actual ballot.
One more lie from a liar
mark spews:
Where did they do the poll, Capitol Hill?
Rossi Wins spews:
Republicans are always totally underrepresented in polls.
This latest one is clearest of all…Rossi wins by 3% points.
Goldy – mark this comment. I invite you to do a post-election post saying I was right.
jcricket spews:
Post #15 reminds me of all the Republican triumphalism in 2004, when they were sure Rossi was going to win, and then when he didn’t, sure he was going to prevail at trial, which he didn’t.
In fact, a couple of wingnut commenters said they would leave if Rossi was shot down in court. Of course, much like everything out of Rossi’s mouth, that was a lie.
BTW – Republicans are not underrepresented in most polls. In fact, owing to the huge Democratic registration drive this year, Republicans are often (but not always) over-represented.
Gregoire by 3%. Mark my words.
Proud To Be An Ass spews:
@13…liar as usual cynical. 47% approve her job performance per this particular poll.

Since you are, by all appearances, not a total moron, I can only conclude you are a political hack, a liar, and totally unprincipled.
Your kind is going the way of the Bourbons…how does it feel? May you wake tonight drenched in sweat anticipating tomorrow’s nightmare.
Take two aspirin and call me on the morning of Nov. 5.
Proud To Be An Ass spews:
“Where did they do the poll, Capitol Hill?”
Nope. The highest income neighborhood in Pomeroy, where all the car dealers and rentiers who inherited the family farm live.
How does it feel to be shot down by your own, Mark? The urge for self-preservation does funny things to people.
Proud To Be An Ass spews:
“Goldy – mark this comment. I invite you to do a post-election post saying I was right.”
And if you are wrong? Nothing, right? Typical wingnut hot air.
Proud To Be An Ass spews:
@1: Done and did. Voted straight dem., even for the bad ones. Voted six or seven times, just to rub it in the “GOP Party’s” face, just to give Sharansky something to do for the next four years…but the next time he stiffs the wait staff, we spit in his soup and give him a little extra ‘vinegar’ on his salad.
Frozen TV dinners for you….GOP hacks!
Proud To Be An Ass spews:
“Republicans are always totally underrepresented in polls.”
Alas, they are also unrepresented in the electorate. Pity, that.

I’ll only relax when mccain calls in his concession speech.
I don’t trust the republicans, i expect them to cheat as much as they can get away with.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@8 Lemme get this straight — you actually believe your rancid candidate is gonna ride Obama’s coattails to Olympia?

I have one word to say to all you wingfuck trolls:

Gregoire by 131
Ramone spews:
dino’s advertisements about property tax increases was featured as one of the most misleading ads ever made. Apparently dino does not know that property taxes are established at the municipal level and that the governor has absolutely zero influence over these taxes!
Ekim spews:
I voted this morning. Straight dem ticket. Lots of people at my polling place, too.
rhp6033 spews:
Anything we can do to encourage Puget Sound voters to finish the job of voting today? I’m concerned that an Obama landslide reported by the news media around 5:00 p.m. might make some of them decide to not bother going to the polls after work. If so, that’s probably going to hurt Gregoire more than Rossi.
We’ve done a good job keeping the electorate educated in the face of an incredible smear campaign by the Republicans on TV, radio, print, and even in the comments here. But we need to finish the job by making sure every last voter gets to the polls today – even after 5:00 p.m.
Anything else we can do at this point? I guess I could canvas my neighborhood one more time, and offer to take the ballots down to the post office for them if they haven’t mailed them already. I’m open to any other suggestions.
rhp6033 spews:
There’s hardly anything about Dino’s ads which WEREN’T misleading.
Steve spews:
@20 “Voted six or seven times”
I took a different approach. I have 53 residents in my house, all of whom voted a straight Dem ticket!

So funny I had to share:
From SP
Election Day in Seattle
Seattle News
by Stefan Sharkansky, 03:04 PM
This morning I took Shark Jr. to the pediatrician for his annual check-up.
The doctor asks me how he’s doing in school “Is he an above average student?”
My above average curious first-grader asks: “What’s an above average student?”
“An average student is someone who does okay in school,” Doc explains. “An above average student does really well in school”.
“Are there any below average students?” Jr. asks.
“Yes”, says the doctor. “And those are the people who vote for McCain-Palin!”.
I shot back that my wife and I are voting for McCain-Palin and that we both have advanced degrees.
Doc apologized profusely, saying that it was a dumb joke and that he didn’t really feel that way. But sheesh.
That’s Seattle for you, where such attitudes and expressions are so standard and socially acceptable, that an otherwise above-average pediatrician would feel uninhibited about making such comments to his 7-year-old patients.
