    From the previous thread
Core inflation rate rose to 2.7% in May, more than expected, Fed’s preferred gauge shows
Excluding food and energy, core PCE posted respective readings of 0.2% and 2.7%, compared with estimates for 0.1% and 2.6%.
Consumer spending and income showed further signs of weakening. Spending fell 0.1% for the month, while personal income declined 0.4%.

This is the first negative read that we’ve actually clocked since Q1 of 2022.”

A combination of inflation and tariffs is reducing real disposable income, while surging government spending that benefits only a narrow group contributes little to broad economic growth. Together, these forces are enabling a contracting real economy, even as short-term stock market gains mask the underlying weakness.

Economists were expecting the number to stay the same at a 0.2 percent contraction.
Together with private investment, first-quarter spending was 0.6 percentage point lower than the previous estimate.

Pending further litigation, the EO will only apply in shithole red states, where it won’t affect African-Americans at all.

    In today’s political news,

Rep. Andy Ogles (R-Tenn.) suggested New York Democratic mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani should be deported and denaturalized ahead of the November election.

“Zohran ‘little muhammad’ Mamdani is an antisemitic, socialist, communist who will destroy the great City of New York,” Ogles wrote in a Thursday post on the social platform X, appearing to invoke the Muslim Prophet Muhammad.

“He needs to be DEPORTED. Which is why I am calling for him to be subject to denaturalization proceedings,” he added.

The Tennessee lawmaker attached his letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi in the post, urging her to denaturalize Mamdani, citing a chapter from the U.S. Code that outlines the revocation of citizenship for individuals who willfully misrepresent or conceal material support for terrorism.

“According to public reports, including a June 21, 2025 New York Post article, Mr. Mamdani expressed open solidarity with individuals convicted of terrorism-related offenses prior to becoming a U.S. citizen. Specifically, he rapped: ‘Free the Holy Land Five / My guys,’” Ogles wrote in the letter.

    https://thehill.com/homenews/house/5372203-tennessee-republican-calls-for-mamdani-to-be-denaturalized-deported/

Let’s skip over the fact Ogles is a piece of shit who’s full of shit, because everyone already knows that, and cut to the chase. If Mamdani has supported terrorists, so has Ogles (Jan. 6). If we’re going to revoke citizenship for exercising free speech, let’s revoke Ogles’ citizenship, because he’s never said anything deserving of constitutional protection. This is a goose-gander deal; what’s applies to Mamdani also applies to Ogles, who maybe should be more careful about what he wishes for.

This is not to say I’m an unabashed Mamdani fan, or support all of his proposals; I’m not and do not; but he got more primary votes than any other candidate, and New Yorkers have the right to elect him as their mayor if that’s what they want to do.

As of yesterday, winning an election wasn’t a deportable offense, but I don’t know about today. Trump, Bondi, Noem, and Miller seem to want to get rid of anybody who isn’t native-born, and some of the latter, too. It remains to be seen how far the SCOTUS Catholic majority will let them go with that.

Maybe if we had a more equitable economic system you wouldn’t have self-described socialists like Bernie Sanders, AOC, and Mamdani winning elections, although all three seem to be advocating and practicing a pragmatic, not ideological, kind of “socialism.” If you don’t like politicians like these, thank the corporate oligarchy and the 1% for creating them. Mamdani’s election victory clearly is a backlash against that system, and also a repudiation of Eric Adams’ corruption (that’s a bad thing??).

The late House speaker Tip O’Neill famously said, “All politics is local.” NYC isn’t Seattle or Peoria or Miami. Mayoral candidates campaign on local needs and issues. Never having lived or been in NYC, I’m in a poor position to judge Mamdani’s policy proposals. So is Ogles, but Ogles isn’t right about anything.

Ogles is a guy who lied about his college credentials. He flunked out of college, receiving an “F” in every course, then eventually went back and scraped out a general liberal arts degree with a 2.4 GPA. He then lied about majoring in international relations, which he didn’t, and about being an “economist,” which he isn’t. Ogles has never held a “real job” (as GOPers like to say); he’s been a career political operative and politician his entire adult life (the kind of person GOPers call “swamp creatures”). He’s repeatedly proven he knows nothing about anything.

Whatever else Mamadani is, he’s far more intelligent, educated, honest, and honorable than Ogles is. Ogles is the slime that oozes out of backed-up sewers in places like rural Tennessee.

@21 I’ll withhold judgment until I see whether SCOTUS applies these limitations on judges’ power evenly and across the board, to liberal and conservative judges alike, or whether this turns into a partisan obstacle to challenging Trump’s unconstitutional actions. The principle articulated in this ruling isn’t necessarily bad in itself on principle, although it makes challenging those actions more burdensome, but I don’t trust this court’s motives.

Tesla is a company that spend the last 15 years pouring mountains of investor cash into building the capacity to produce electric cars at scale for global consumers. Now they are telling their investors that all that was a diveresion and that the real business model is selling $4 rides to millennials going for coffee.

Perhaps not surprisingly, as they have done consistently in the past, Tesla is running a full court press, SEO spoofing campaign to coincide with their Robotaxi rollout intended to curate the public reception of the product failure. And that now includes bot accounts on various popular social media attempting to start arguments among users about “which is better – Waymo or Robotaxi”. And that in turn is to create opportunities for Tesla to spread disinformation about Waymo to the general public.

So here’s some validated information I thought I’d share.

Waymo is currently booking over 2 million miles of paid trips per week entirely autonomously. No backup driver on board or hiding in a trailer. Remote assistance available, but only in emergency situations, more or less like OnStar. Statistically, with transparent data, Waymo is safer than an average human driver and continuing to scale up.

Tesla is operating 20 robotaxis by invite-only in a small part of a single city with an emergency backup driver ready to stop the vehicle. Tesla would need to run 365 days a year in any weather, day or night, at 50k miles per vehicle for two years to reach 2 million miles (what Waymo is doing every week).

I’m not saying that Tesla can’t catch up. I’m saying that currently there is no evidence available to anyone that the company is even trying to catch up, much less has that capability. The scaling problem that Tesla faces is enormous. And the growing pains and data that Waymo has quietly amassed since first operating in public eight years ago, and since first offering ride hailing service to the general public five years ago, can’t be spoofed. Waymo is currently operating on a scale that obviously took many years to acheive safely, but which also puts them in another category from a relative startup like Robotaxi, which is just barely getting started.

As DSA people go, he couldn’t be more different from anyone stridently ideological like a Kshama Sawant who couldn’t care less about retail politics skills.

Momdani sticks to strict message discipline, he has a good chance of winning.

Deep inside U.S. economy, more sticker prices start going up due to tariffs, and inventory is headed down

The latest inflation data came in hotter than expected, and Nike warned in its earnings on Thursday that prices will be going higher due to tariffs.

Across the U.S. retail and manufacturing distribution chains, inventory has started to be re-ticketed with higher prices, by between 8%-15%, according to ITS Logistics, including for apparel and consumer product goods.

The footwear industry says it expects prices to rise by between 6% and 10%.

Some US oil executives see disaster in Trump’s agenda while dismissing ‘drill, baby, drill’ as a ‘myth and populist rallying cry’

Despite pumping record amounts of oil during the Biden administration, the energy industry largely backed Trump and celebrated his return to office.
    …
“The threat of $50 oil prices by the administration has caused our firm to reduce its 2025 and 2026 capital expenditures. ‘Drill, baby, drill’ does not work with $50 per barrel oil. Rigs will get dropped, employment in the oil industry will decrease, and U.S. oil production will decline as it did during COVID-19,” another oil executive warned.

Yet another said, “I have never felt more uncertainty about our business in my entire 40-plus-year career.”

On a related note, two more rigs shut down this week. From 621 active operating extraction rigs at the start of the Administration to 588 now.

    15,

It does seem to me at least that there is some well established U.S. history for leaving the determination of citizenship rights up to the individual states and their courts of general jurisdiction. IRC that’s exactly how it was done from about 1788 to about 1868 – from ratification of the Constitution until ratification of the 14th Ammendment.

If memory serves we fought a whole civil war over this very idea and decided that leaving that question up to states was bad.

So yeah. That’s not at all an overreaction. It may be procedural. But procedurally it’s a direct attack on Equal Protection under the 14th Amendment, which was voted into law, passed, and ratified into the Constitution over 100 years ago. Now in part repealled by unelected judges railroaded onto the courts by Republican white supremacists.

The Court did not exceed its power in that instance

A number of district courts issued nationwide injuctions blocking implementation of the Biden plan for student loan forgiveness. Even today, for example in the 8th Circuit, a lower court nationwide injuction was expanded in scope in February halting implementation of the much scaled-back SAVE repayment plan, which offers no forgiveness, but merely more lenient repayment terms. The circuit expanded the injuction to apply also to the PAYE plans as well as the REPAYE plans.

According at least to the reasoning the Nazi Fucktard relies upon and supports, and used in the SCOTUS ruling, those nationwide injuctions should be invalidated for exceeding the limited jurisdiction of those district and circuit courts.

And bear in mind the utter stupidity of this entire argument is emphasized by the fact that the CASA ruling implicates fundamental rights of citizenship, while the student loan repayment plans implicate nothing of the sort.

Oh what (boring) fun it will be to watch the grimey, corrupt FedSoc judges cherry pick their way through all this and find their way to sweep aside nationwide injunctions protecting poor people, and minorities, while upholding nationwide injunctions attacking poor people and minorities.

Last year the Nazi Fucktard’s naked puts expired out of the money. And he was dumb enough to admit it by claiming that he was quite happy to be forced to aquire a very large holding in TSLA at that time. He would have been wise to have dumped it all last December. But we asked. And he never said he had. Which would seem like an even more obvious ret-con cope.

Who knows Boxcheck Momala better than her fatcat donors in California?

Former Vice President Kamala Harris’ prospective gubernatorial bid is not striking up much excitement among Democratic fundraisers in California, Politico reported Friday.

The outlet spoke to multiple Democratic Party donors in California to see how they felt about Harris possibly running for governor. So far, her interest in exploring a gubernatorial run in the state following her 2024 presidential election loss hasn’t enthused many.

“She still would probably lead, but honestly, no one is incredibly pumped,” one Southern California fundraiser told Politico.

As The Even Bigger Fucking Moron likes to point out, she might be the smartest black woman to ever fail the California Bar exam, but that doesn’t make her the least bit competent.

One California Democrat who contributed six-figures to her presidential bid said a Harris candidacy would only serve as a reminder of how “traumatizing” the last election was.

It would also remind California voters of how incompetent Boxcheck Momala was, is now, and always will be.

But hey, there’s nothing that will make Karen Bass look good by comparison than having her campaign for Boxcheck Momala.

I’m sure Robinhood Dumbfuck Rabbit would have described it that way.

Almost anyone who understands how options premiums work would as well.

The Nazi Fucktard can’t brag in one post that he is KILLING IT booking $20k premiums on his options trades and then a few posts later try to pretend that he is some modest pensioner dabbling a few hundred shares on Robin Hood. This is leverage. It works both ways.
When the Nazi Fucktard went long on Tesla in December of 2023 he had to put a lot of his portfolio at risk. At the time he bragged confidently about what easy money he was making since “it is impossible for TSLA to stay below 400” And since the brag was big…

    So was the leverage.

Later on, after his options expired out of the money, the Nazi Fucktard bragged some more about the killing he made liquidating some family real estate trust property. Why? Why sell an appreciating asset that produces an income? To close out his failed Tesla options, of course.

Today Bob owns at least a few thousand shares.
He shouldn’t. He knows it. He regrets it. And he needs to believe that this failure is his private failure, concealed from public shame. But he just couldn’t resist the childish bragging.
