    I’m hoping the Latah County Prosecutor is prepared to present physical and testimonial evidence that directly ties the suspect to the murders. It’s sadly too common in sensational murder investigations for investigators to latch on to “stranger danger” and build a weak case around the nearest weirdo who can be tied to the scene or the victims.

    My hope is that they have solid evidence at least showing the suspect present at the murders, and not just evidence connecting him to the location.

    I’m happy to talk about it. Up 2.4% from 1/1/22 – 12/31/22, losers included. This includes all tax-loss sales. Dividends add another 3.5%, so I made 5.9% last year.

    My top gainers in 2022: Occidental Petroleum, 121%; Exxon Mobil, 80%; Chevron, 53%. Anybody see a pattern here?

    Unlike you I don’t have to dodge, deflect, evade, or refuse to answer when asked about my asset performance. You won’t even tell us whether you did better or worse than the S&P 500.

    Post Pandemic has led to exposing a design flaw with SOUNDER’s operating model. Most new North American commuter train operators have been built around the old 9 to 5 office. Very few are all day service. A few operators have a different service pattern, but they tend to own the majority of their right of way. UTA FrontRunner in SLC operates in their own track within the UP Right of Way. CalTrain owns the SF-San Jose line, and operates several types of services, Local(all stops), Limited, and Baby Bullet. The latter makes just a few stops. On SOUNDER SLine, such a service could be a Tacoma Seattle launch calling at just a few stations, for example Auburn and Tukwilla. The latter, due to it being tge closest station to Sea-Tac Airport. In 2000, when the first SOUNDER trains ran, it only made two stops between Tacoma and Seattle, Auburn and Sumner. Puyallup, Kent, and Tukwilla weren’t finished.

    In the article, it was suggested that it could attract more riders with mid-day and evening runs. There is a type of vehicle not available at the time SOUNDER was being planned, that has led to more frequent service on startups in Fort Worth and San Bernadino. Before the Stadler FLIRT was adapted to meet FRA Regs, use of any light Diesel Multiple Units was restricted to operations with time separation windows with Freight trains, so definitely not on the main line. The Stadler FLIRT platform has proven adaptable, whether it’s Standard or broad gauge, diesel, diesel-electric, electric, dual mode, battery, and hydrogen, and for uses ranging from Urban, Commuter, Regional, and Intercity. It’s uses are endless. Would love to see one tested up here, especially on the route from Freighthouse Square headed to Eatonville. The grade through Tacoma Gulch has been a killer for freight operators, at 3%. If this DMU could handle that, maybe a service to Mount Rainier, which was why the City of Tacoma originally bought the line when Weyerhaeuser was dumping it.

    Now, a commuter rail that puts the best networks in the US and Canada to shame, the Paris RER. Capacity, ridership, rolling stock, and Infrastructure, NY’s commuter trains don’t come close. Three disjointed networks, three different operators among row organizations. In the case of the Metro-North and LIRR a rivalry from private ownership(MN was New York Central, LIRR was Pennsylvania RailRoad) that has not gone away(rolling stock, especially third rail equipped EMUs is incompatible. SEPTA in Philadelphia at least avoided the Regional Rail division from having the same fate, a commuter rail subway connecting the Reading and PRR lines.
