    Just the security threats mentioned in Baja California alone in this article should nix the idea of a cross border run for the San Diego Trolley. At first, thought it was a bad idea politically and practically. There are examples of cross border streetcars like Basel and Saarbrucken, and even El Paso used to have a run into Juarez, but none of those would work in San Diego.

    It appears that they suggest a one station extension of the Blue line South of San Yisidro into Tijuana. Looked at the aerial shot of San Yisidro Port of Entry in relation to the current trolley terminus, and it looks like a longer walk than I remember it the last time I was there, but that was 35 years ago.

    The old El Paso-Juarez international streetcar, was ironically seen by both countries as a way to handle foot crossings on the bridge. Tge PCCC car was set up with seats facing the aisles so customs officers could more easily do checks.

    Metro putting a bus in the Parade. Coach 4800, New Flyer XE60 battery electric, loved the destination sign, besides advertising being a battery bus, also that Metro is hiring. Although they probably would prefer those who already have the required CDL with a passenger endorsement.

    Also, think they should put a crew from power distribution in the Torchlight Parade, as they will be working after it, putting the trolley wire back up on Pine St between 3rd and 5th. Although perhaps it would be better to just use the 4300 and 4500 series trolleys battery capability on this stretch, permanently.

    Noticed some of the Hydro teams had their backup boats in the parade. I remember when the Torchlight Parade and the Races were the same weekend. After time trials wrapped up on Friday, the teams would form up in a convoy for Downtown. Used to live by Stan Sayres Park.

    As for next week, no I-90 closures, just like in 2019, Compliments of Sound Transit. Although there is a stub track west of Judkins Park station, doesn’t seem to be room for something similar on the Bellevue end.
