Great news for kreepshit: stop and frisk your violent ilk, ya freek..

Among the 50 states, murder rates were often well above the national average in many Republican-controlled states and cities. Jacksonville with 176 homicides and a murder rate (19.776) more than three times that of New York City (5.94) has a Republican mayor. Tulsa (19.64) and Oklahoma City (11.16) have Republican mayors in a Republican state and have murder rates that dwarf that of Los Angeles (6.74). Lexington’s Republican mayor saw record homicides in 2020 and 2021, with a murder rate (10.61) nearly twice that of New York City. Bakersfield (11.91) and Fresno (14.09) each have Republican mayors and murder rates far higher than either San Francisco or Los Angeles.

    How about Buttfuck Class, G-clown?

Nothing to see here. Just a male teacher in Hawaii who recorded himself having sex with a 13 year-old boy and shared the videos via messenger app with another teacher in Philadelphia.

According to federal court documents, Bunag had been sending child pornography to a teacher in Philadelphia. That teacher was arrested in October.

Documents said Bunag and the mainland teacher exchanged over 33 hundred messages, including hundreds of images and video files.

The documents added that “Bunag claimed to have sex with (the boy) at the school during lunch breaks… Described (the boy) as a former student and knew that he was a minor at the time.”

Records said, “he also admitted to distributing the video recording of his sexual contact… admitted to distributing child pornography involving other minor victims.”

Serves that little boy right. I bet his parents are domestic terrorists who show up at school board meetings and, you know, ask questions and expect answers an’ shit.

This is all so triggering to G-clown.

Yes, girlfriend. We’ve been through this exact same article before, maybe two months ago. Your IQ-mate The Even Bigger Fucking Moron might have been the one to post it the last time.

Didja read the piece? Here’s how data was collected:

We collected 2019 and 2020 murder data from all 50 states. (Comprehensive 2021 data is not yet available.) We pulled the data from yearly crime reports released by state governments, specifically the Departments of Justice and Safety. For states that didn’t issue state crime reports, we pulled data from reputable local news sources.

Not the FBI’s data. They picked and chose what they wanted, no doubt electing to deem “disreputable” those news sources that didn’t fit their narrative.

This is the worst kind of “research”, which enables you to continue to mask the shooting deaths of inner city minority kids with the false claim that it’s just as bad elsewhere.

Princess, you don’t give a shit about 10 people being shot and killed every weekend in Chicago, but 10 people being shot and killed twice a year in a mass event makes you moist.

The Unserious YLB never disappoints, and she’ll never grow the fuck up.

The reason liberals attempt the “Yabbut the governor is a Republican” misdirection when dodging blame for black-on-black murders in the US is so you don’t see FBI data from sources like this:

    Expanded Homicide Data Table 3
    Murder
Race, Ethnicity, and Sex of Victim by Race, Ethnicity, and Sex of Offender, 2016

It’s black youth murdering black youth, and the efforts to make it blue state thing or a red state thing are minor and rather silly issues. When politicians point out that it’s violent crime in the black community, they aren’t wrong. Pointing out that it’s disproportionately a black community problem isn’t racist.

Neither hopes and prayers, nor banning AR-15s totally, will do a damned thing about it.

What is concerning is how far apart her feet are as she speaks while standing before her audience. The second time the camera at the back of the room was used, her stance was even wider than the first time. That base-wide stance suggests a person with balance problems. Hopefully it’s temporary.

Instead of removing my text and replacing it with [Deleted], as has traditionally been done before, this time it was just a stealth-edit. The whole thing, memory-holed.

For the record, I previously refuted that silly link here.

In that prior commentary I pointed out that one data point used by the authors was sourced from the FBI, but the authors otherwise ignored readily available FBI data so that they could substitute their own cherry-picked work. I also said some not-very-nice things about the political leadership in Baltimore. Most importantly, I pointed out that the authors schemed to leave Illinois off its list of the Top Ten murder states.

I sincerely hope that this second effort to bring forward my prior fisking of the trash YLB is trying to spread around will pass muster with our silent moderator(s).

Chicago, where somebody is murdered every 13 hours and 42 minutes, and that victim has a 77% chance of being black.

Noticed it seems Metro has not dieselize the entire trolleybus network for the weekend. It’s required for construction projects that might require partial de-energization of overhead wires. Personally, with the newer XT40 and XT60s, I think they should run them anyway between gaps, as long as it’s within battery range, even though Metro procures diesel via contract, not necessarily paying the spot price. When the University Bridge had it’s issues recently, some of the busses were diverted over Montlake, but the best test of using the batteries for emergency route deviation, had to be some 49 and 70 runs using I-5. On weekdays, more battery busses are entering service on the suburban routes. Although not sure about the future of the handful assigned out of Bellevue Base, as Rts 226 and 241 will be gone soon.

De-energizing the wires requires a request 15 days in advance, and a $1000 deposit, probably for the Overtime by the Line crews. Shutting the system down isn’t done from the power distribution center. I listened to it on the scanner once. It requires locking out the affected substations and specific line segments. If the request requires Central or Broad Street to be shut down, I can see a requirement for network-wide motorization., those two cover Downtown Seattle and Belltown, and a few neighboring sections of the network, with all routes except 44 affected. Got curious about the neighborhood rectifier substations as the trolley routes get further away from the Downtown hub. Turns out, hidden in plain sight. My favorite is one I’ve passed by all the time and didn’t know, Letitia Ave. It’s inside the confines of a sewage/ storm water pump station just off Rainier Ave. The only signs that it’s there are the transformer/insulator on the pole, and a cable leading to the substation gear. Columbia City I believe is in the back of a SCL/SEED building once on the footprint of the Seattle and Rainier Valley Interurban yard around Hudson/Dawson Streets.

    70,
Of course he’s been stupid about a great many things before.
But really, if he were not intending to run, if he really had no intention of running at all, then he’d be operating entirely differently right now.

For one thing, if pretending to be preparing another run were all just part of the extended grift, and there really was no campaign in his future, then all the finance laws that otherwise restrict a candidate would not apply to him, now or later. Trump will happily say whatever he needs to say in order to get drooling capillary farms like Degen to become excited and order hats, flags, attend rallies, or donate to fake “legal funds”. So even though Trump is teasing it, he hasn’t yet crossed the line that would invoke financial disclosures and restrictions. He remains free to raise unlimited sums without the threat of ever having to disclose but only if he stays in bounds. If he really were not running, there would be no boundaries at all. And he’d be lying right now.

He also would not be quite so strategic about endorsements and lining up vassals. He knows precisely which states he will lose in 2024 that will keep him from winning the electoral college. So he’s been exceptionally careful, and targeted in most of his campaigning for off year and midterm candidates. He’s trying to put people in positions where they can do him the most good when he loses in November of 2024. Again, if it wall just about the money, he’d be doing it all completely differently. For one thing, he’d get behind fuckers like Fat Midget and Rick Scott more. He’d be less concerned about payback and more concerned about getting paid.

He’d also be fucking around a whole lot more with foreign money, especially Putin’s money. If he were not preparing to run again he simply wouldn’t need a phony SPAC. He be going directly into business with murderous commie dictators and fascist instead of doing it through intermediaries.

People have really got to stop fooling themselves about what’s going on. And that especially applies to fools clinging to the Trump Party by pretending that there is a “pivot”.

There is no pivot. Trump owns it. Trump owns them.
And Trump will be their nominee in 2024.

I see it’s time for QoS McHillbilly to pop up again and tell us all how Trump will be the RNC nominee in 2024.

DeSantis draws huge cash haul from Trump donors

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — As Ron DeSantis gears up for a likely 2024 White House bid — with or without Donald Trump in the race — the Florida governor is winning over some of the former president’s biggest benefactors.

DeSantis has attracted the attention of some of the nation’s wealthiest Republican donors, including many who were key financiers of Trump’s reelection bid or backers of high profile Republican candidates and causes, according to POLITICO analysis of campaign finance data.

A DeSantis-aligned political committee, Friends of Ron DeSantis, has received $3.4 million this election cycle from 10 donors who collectively spent $24 million on Trump’s reelection bid. Most of the high-dollar donors had never given contributions in state-level Florida elections, while those who have previously provided funds have significantly increased their spending for DeSantis during the 2022 midterms.

Though many donors are focused on November, when the governor is up for reelection, DeSantis’ fundraising signals that he is both a viable 2024 candidate who may not need the former president’s backing and one who is sapping some financial support from Trump.

Through its efforts to further tarnish Trump, the J6 committee smooths the path to nomination for DeSantis.

A DeSantis v. Polis general election race would give me comfort that either one would be a competent president.

Y’all libbies need to start looking at 2024. Don’t let #CrookedHillary, or worse, happen to y’all again.

I’m at least reassured that some Trump Party voters recognize their potential peril now by admitting that Trump will run again.

But I fear that the mistake they will be making, as before, will be to assume that the peril is embodied in Trump himself. Trump is not the peril. Trump voters are the peril. Plain old rank-and-file Trump voters, MAGAts, COVIDiots, RamRanch Clownvoyers, Proud Boys, Patriot Prayer, the hundreds of MAGA nominees running in this election (and likely to win), the hundreds more MAGA incumbents in Congress, state legislatures, and Governor’s mansions nationwide, led by Tucker Carlson on the most widely viewed “news” program on television and attended to by his regular guests like Steve Bannon, Marjorie Neanderthal Barbie, Matt Pedophile, and the MILF Hooker from CO.

Until “conservatives” fix their own shit, they won’t free themselves of Trump. His control and his influence over the process and the base voters is too much. And it’s the people who prop him up that are the real peril. Cowards. Like Kevin McCarthy. It certainly won’t help to replace McCarthy with Stefanik. So when you watch that unfold next year, as it inevitably will, just understand that it is just these sorts of decisions that keep Trump as their permanent party overlord, and guarantee that Fat Midget can’t be the nominee.

Why an intelligent man is willing to take that horrid woman at her word is beyond me.

Nobody has to take anybody at their word.

Watch what they do, not what they say.

    Trump is running.
    Clinton is not.
It’s self-explanatory to anyone paying any attention.

Trump is raising money every way he can without having to disclose or risk future disclosure. And he’s studiously careful about what he says. He’s preparing for a federal campaign in which his fund raising and some of his finances would be open to disclosure and limits. And he’s lining up endorsements and key surrogates in the midterms by supporting selected incumbents and key challengers. He’s holding regular events in places all across the country in front of crowds of voters, not crowds of donors. He’s working to keep his name in the media and in front of voters and candidates every day.

Clinton is doing absolutely none of that.

The peril to “conservatives” is not Trump. The peril is the Trump world populated by swooning Trump idiots. I can step outside my door and walk less than half a mile to find a “Trump Won” yard sign, flag, or bumper sticker. Start walking right now and you’ll die on the road looking for a “Hillary Won” anything. Conjuring up Clinton won’t help them. Trump fan girls is their existential problem. And it’s a problem that even “That Cunt” can’t solve.

    Only “conservatives” can fix themselves.
And as Degen is amply demonstrating here, they simply are not equipped for the job. In two years when Trump clinches the Republican nomination Degen will switch his support just as quickly and effortlessly as he did in 2016. Nothing has changed. There is no pivot. There will be no pivot. The first step toward Trump recovery begins by admitting you have a Trump problem.
    And they won’t do that.

Surprised the Nebraska AG hasn’t marched marched into a Trump appointed judge to get this Surface Transportation Board emergency order against Union Pacific lifted. Whose the STB to order a railroad to prioritize a customer complaining about their chicken feed not arriving? The shareholders dividedends are more important. Surprised that the STB even had this authority, let alone willing to use it. Tge Staggers Act was needed, but we may be headed towards reregulation.

    https://www.trains.com/trn/news-reviews/news-wire/union-pacific-hit-with-stb-emergency-service-order-for-california-poultry-feed-producer/

The bad service on the Class Is predate the Pandemic. It started when Wall Street corrupted a great idea on how to better utilize assets at a railroad. Ever since all Class Is except BNSF have fully embraced Precision Scheduled Railroading, service has suffered. At CN, where Hunter Harrison first implemented PSR, one idea for more efficient utilization of crews and rolling stock was to use different rates on different days. A shorter train doesn’t need as many locomotives. He was trying to fill out the lengths on days when the same train had less traffic. It devolved into mothballing surplus rolling stock and laying off employees, rather than aggressively go after more traffic. As a result when we had the supply chain issues, wasn’t easy to call off more crews from the Extra Boards, as in many cases, there weren’t any to spare.

Also, shippers want their delivery when they need it. A business up the street from where I work gets a few cuts of reeder cars delivered every few days. If BNSF said we got a train arriving in Balmer Yard(Interbay) Saturday and the yard crew can deliver the cars then, it won’t do Coastal Transportation any good, their ships sail for Alaska Friday Night, usually before or after rush hour(Ballard Bridge). Last deliveries by truck are usually on Thursday. Tge short lines and regionals tend to do better service, then again, they need every carload they can get.

Hillary Clinton Maintains 2016 Election ‘Was Not On the Level’: ‘We Still Don’t Know What Really Happened’

And then she went on to cast doubt on the 2020 election results, even though that election had not yet taken place.

Trump’s an asshole and sometime in early January, if not before, it was clear that he was lying about the election results. I still think Georgia’s results are firmly in the questionable category but not those of Pennsylvania, nor Michigan, and probably not Wisconsin.

Trump lost the way he won, which was ugly.

Clinton lost ugly and, as she showed in October 2020, dishonestly and irresponsibly.

Clinton wondered aloud how she could win by 3 million votes nationwide and still lose. Trump wondered aloud how he could have a Pennsylvania landslide on election night and still lose. Neither of them wondered honestly.

Both of them delegitimized the electoral process.

City Council President Nick Mosby’s assistant arrested on gun, drug charges in Baltimore County

An assistant for Baltimore City Council President Nick Mosby was arrested on gun and marijuana distribution charges in Baltimore County earlier this month, and released from jail Friday, court records show.

Jade Kala Johnson, 24, has been charged with having a loaded handgun in a vehicle, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm while distributing drugs, among several other offenses.
    …
Police wrote that officers found in the center console a 9 mm handgun loaded with a magazine containing 16 rounds, along with another 16-round magazine loaded with 14 bullets nearby.
    …
Johnson was charged with utilizing a magazine with a capacity of more than 10 rounds of ammunition, a misdemeanor that carries a maximum penalty of three years incarceration, a $5,000 fine or both.

I wrote above @ 27 that our precious widdle YLB whined to a moderator to delete a duplicate post. Wanna know more about POS Nick Mosby? Sure ya do:

City Council President Nick Mosby guilty of ethics violations

The Baltimore City Board of Ethics ruled Thursday that City Council President Nick Mosby violated rules by soliciting donations to offset legal costs incurred by him and his wife, State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby.

The board ordered Mosby to sever all connections with the fund, known as the Mosby 2021 Trust.

In its ruling, the board said when it found “prima facie” evidence of ethics violations, it offered Mosby the opportunity to settle the issue himself, but his lawyer declined to do so.

The 17-page report includes a record that Baltimore awarded a “several-hundred-thousand-dollar” American Rescue Plan Act grant to a non-profit organization whose executive director appears to have donated $100 to Donorbox, the online platform hosting Mosby’s fund, a few weeks prior to the award.

The largest donation, $5000, was made by someone who was previously listed as a woman or minority-owned business in a contract bid that was before the City’s Board of Estimates, on which Mosby sits.

His POS wife was indicted for CARES fraud. They’re like, the Baltimore version of the Clintons.

WFB Exclusive: Why I Busted Joe Biden’s Elderly Ass on Father’s Day Weekend

The first few times Joe claimed to have only six grandchildren instead of seven, one could reasonably write it off as a honest mistake given the old man’s rapidly deteriorating brain. But when the Bidens hung just six children’s stockings above the White House fireplace this past Christmas, I was forced to confront the sinister truth.

“NJR” is not merely an assortment of letters on a legal document. She is a human being who deserves to be loved and spoiled rotten by her Pee Paw Joe, but that won’t happen so long as her mere existence remains unrecognized. The status quo is tantamount to child abuse and I just couldn’t abide it any longer. I know the president better than most. He’s always blaming other people for his problems. When the granddaughter he abandoned as a child grows up to be a nasty stripper just like her mother, he’ll have no one but himself to blame.

This is my message to Joe Biden and all the absentee grandfathers across this great country: Today is Father’s Day. It’s never too late to do the right thing.

What kind of POS hides from his grandchild? Yeah, I’d clamp my toe clip down on his foot, too. Then pop my saddle off and ram the seat post up his flabby ass.

The real purpose of the Juneteenth holiday is to replace the MLK holiday when the FBI’s tapes including MLK laughing and providing encouragement while his buddies raped a woman in the same room are released in 2027.

I’m an MLK scholar – and I’ll never be able to view King in the same light

Initially sealed by court order until 2027, the documents ended up being made available in recent months through the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992.

The most damaging memos describe King witnessing a rape in a hotel room. Instead of stopping it, handwritten notes in the file say he encouraged the attacker to continue.

King was once thought of as a saint beyond reproach. After his death, it eventually emerged that he was a womanizer.

I eagerly await the Herschel Walker defense by King’s reality-deniers.

The FBI files contained some other notable information.

Garrow writes that King may have fathered a daughter with Dolores Evans, a girlfriend of his who is still alive and living in Los Angeles.

The FBI giveth, and the FBI taketh away.

    YLB’s kids are so fucked.

As it stands, interest on the debt already accounts for almost $1 out of every $10 the government spends. If interest rates go up sharply, so will federal debt-service payments. Under current conditions, the Government Accountability Office already estimates that interest payments will account for 15 percent of all federal spending by 2035 and 27 percent by 2050 — and those numbers could be much higher if there are big increases in interest rates, which is a real possibility. But I should emphasize here that the GAO already forecasts that interest payments will grow to 27 percent of federal spending in just a few years — which would mean that we’d be spending more on interest payments than we spend on Social Security, which currently accounts for a larger share of federal spending than any other program. Put another way, the thing we will be spending the most on in the future is previous spending.

All that spending by politicians YLB voted to support. It would be worse, too, if not for the presence of spine in the bodies of Manchin and Sinema.

Get back to toilin’, YLB’s kids. My Social Security payments start in less than two years, and you’re gonna have to pay even more when the tap runs dry in 2034 or sooner.

Hillary Clinton admits Dems’ focus on ‘activist causes’ could cost them election

Hillary Clinton has warned fellow Democrats that their obsession with transgender issues and defunding the police could cost them the 2024 presidential election.

The failed presidential candidate — who insisted it was “out of the question” that she would run again — agreed when the Financial Times pointed out that her party appeared to be “losing focus by elevating activist causes” that “are relevant only to a small minority.”

In particular, Democrats appeared fixated on the “transgender debate,” the FT’s US national editor, Edward Luce, pointed out, quipping, “What sense does it make to depict JK Rowling as a fascist?”

As much sense as it makes to depict Elon Musk as unimaginative and uncreative. Isn’t that right, girlfriend.

If the Democrats cared as much about rising inflation as they do about putting a drag queen in every elementary school classroom they’d have better midterm prospects. But that would make YLB unhappy, and we can’t have our resident princess pouting, can we?

Yellen Says Elevated US Inflation Locked In for the Rest of 2022

“We’ve had high inflation so far this year, and that locks in higher inflation for the rest of the year,” she said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week.”

As Treasury Sccretary she damaged her reputation last year by claiming publicly that inflation would be transitory, even though she argued privately to spend far less on those silly unneeded handouts.

She’s doing it again now, by claiming that the plummeting US economy and Fed actions not seen in 40 years won’t dump us into the shitter.

JPMorgan Strategists Say Stocks Imply 85% Chance of US Recession

The warning from quant and derivatives strategists is based on the average 26% decline for the S&P 500 during the past 11 recessions and follows the US benchmark’s collapse into a bear market amid concerns about surging inflation and aggressive interest rate hikes.

“In all, there appear to be heightened concerns over recession risk among market participants and economic agents, which could become self-fulfilling if they persist prompting them to change behavior, e.g. by cutting investment or spending,” the strategists led by Nikolaos Panigirtzoglou wrote in a note. “Market concerns of a risk of policy error and subsequent reversal have increased.”

“Policy error”. That’s putting it rather nicely.

What Powell does not say is that the “pain” for working-class Americans is not an accident or even an unintended consequence. As economists well know, the very possibility of tackling inflation rests on relieving the upward pressure on prices by diminishing consumer demand. To do so, the Fed will curtail the purchasing power of most citizens – especially those who have the least.

And the MAGA Republicans are the ones who control the party from now through at least 2024. Guys like Graham, Rove, or Priebus are pretty irrelevant. Even if the only reason they oppose Greitens is the sexual violence and wife beatings. True-to-form MAGA fan girl cowards are unwilling to call Greitens out for his history of sexual torture and domestic violence. In the MAGA world dominated by the Orange Porn Daddy who pays pre-teens to jerk him off wearing Playtex gloves, those things are features, not bugs.

FYI: The ABA is a volunteer association with no jurisdiction or authority over the profession or practice of the law in the United States or its territories.

The ABA’s accreditation of “approved” graduate school academic programs in the law has been under challenge for decades because of acknowledged violations of the anti-trust provisions in the U.S.C. A consent decree was entered into in the early 2000s wherein the ABA’s Section on Legal Education and Admissions is monitored for compliance by the DOJ and the DOE. Exclusive reliance on the LSAT, as opposed to other performance measures such as the GRE, is one of the issues at stake in the anti-trust consent agreement. The ABA’s practice of only accrediting schools that exclusively rely on the LSAT is deemed out of compliance with the consent agreement.

It’s perfectly all right for repukes to be “activist”

    IOKIYAR isn’t really the point.

The point is that MSM downplay mainstream “conservative” extremism and treat it with “oddball loner with a gun” framing. While they simultaneously concern-troll the fuck out of fringe-popular social media extremists on the left, treating them as if they represent mainstream Democrats and liberal think tanks.

This happens in part because the MSM have become disturbingly preoccupied with social media personalities in general, regardless of their often limited impact IRL The focus on social media in general is a reaction to loss of audience. But it also happens because MSM are devoted to a model of “balance-in-framing” in pursuit of the broadest possible audience. And that model favors “conflict” and “controversy” even where none really exists.

So despite nearly all the real life evidence of extremism growing very disproportionately on the right (rapid rise of right-wing paramilitaries and violent street gangs, growing and open defiance of public safety, increasingly routine and aggressive violent rhetoric online, in-person, and in official capacity, multiple, regular, routine violent attacks on government and civic institutions, and direct assaults on free speech and human rights), MSM cling to framing “growing extremism on both sides”.

Admitting and frankly discussing the lurch into extremism by American political “conservatives” is just not good for building audience and audience engagement. It’s not so much that the media are saying that it’s “okay” for Elise Stefanik or Donald Trump to promote paranoid delusions about “white peril”. It’s that they insist that somehow Shaun King cancels them out on an imaginary Scoreboard-In-The-Sky. And just to make sure it sticks, when they grudgingly decide to talk about rising domestic political terror in the U.S., instead of inviting expert groups like CSIS to take part in the conversation, they invite “controversial” social media personalities Taylor Lorenz or Matt Drudge.

Audience pandering favors the dumb. And what we know from careful study of voter file data is that Republican voters are consistently less educated, less capable of demonstrating critical thinking, and terribly misinformed, i.e. dumb.

As long as you choose to ignore the scholars’ acknowledgements that the King recordings exist and that the published accounts of them are correct, YLB. The scholarship is one of the things that differentiates the recordings of King from the Khalidi tape.

Another is that the MLK recordings are still hidden from the public ear by the government, while the Khalidi tape is hidden from the public eye/ear by a news organization, which doesn’t want people to know its contents for some reason.

There’s nothing about the existence of the Khalidi tape that is fantasy.

“Two dozen chubby guys following a nearly nude dude wearing a faux fur hat were not, ever, going to topple the government”

    Behold!
    The building of a scarecrow.

There are obviously “issues” with the electoral count act and a few other laws surrounding the presidential succession. As soon as we drive a sufficient number of Republicans out of government we need to address those statutory deficiencies. Prior generations of U.S. lawmakers just never would have imagined a major political party trying to overturn an election outcome this way. In retrospect, it’s hard to know what might have happened if Pence had given in to his party’s demands that day.

I’d like to imagine that the majority leadership would have had the wherewithal to go ahead and convene a joint session without the Trump party and his VP in attendance and then certified the EV count. But it’s pretty hard to imagine that taking place while a thousand weird-beards with spears and pipe-bombs were wilding on the floor of the House. And that’s pretty much the point.

Trump cut off National Guard support without his approval. Had Pence gone along with his party on the conspiracy, Trump would have declared any joint session “unlawful” and refused to protect the Congress at all. He obviously waited as long as he did to make sure that the conspirators had exhausted every opportunity to prevent the certification. Part of that meant polling Republicans in the House and Senate. They refused to back his play without Pence to take the lead (and the blame).

So there’s really no reason to think it wouldn’t have worked if Pence had gone along with his party. And it might still have worked if just a few more Senators had been willing to back Trump without Pence. Considering that they are people like Ted Cruz, that’s a fucking close call.

I’d tell you that there’s not very much leeway for federal judges to independently depart from the guidelines no matter how much a defendant or their attorney pisses them off.

Angeli pleaded guilty to a single felony count of violating 18 U.S.C. § 1512(c)(2), and agreed to the prosecutor’s recommendation. The statutory range extends to 20 years. 3-1/2 years is probably the formulaic custodial sentence based upon the matrix of statutory considerations recommended to the judge by the prosecutor and agreed to by the defendant. What these fuck sticks did is not a joke. It’s a serious big-boy felony with serious big-boy consequences. FAFO I guess.

Mr. Angeli was examined by qualified psychiatrists and found to be very aware, completely oriented to time and place, able to distinguish fantasy from reality, capable of comprehending and discussing complex issues involved in his defense, and entirely capable of understanding the charges against him and every step in the legal process.

The legal standards for diminished mental capacity do not incorporate wildly improbable, deeply deluded, firmly held beliefs.

Which may ultimately prove problematic for a great many Republicans in the coming years.
Some credible argument can be made that the obviously irrational Qanon type paranoia that now grips these people may raise obstacles in prosecuting crimes with complex intent requirements. Obstruction of an official proceeding has no such requirement. And Mr. Angeli never argued as part of his defense that he did not intend to interrupt the electoral vote count when he unlawfully entered the building. Quite the contrary. He admitted that it was his intent. Many of the other Trump supporters facing prosecution, including some of those not yet indicted, have been equally helpful to prosecutors by documenting their intent in social media posts, text messages, live streams, complex, Byzantine planning documents shared among top ranking officials, and emails to the wives of sitting Supreme Court Associate Justices.

That was very nice of them, I think.

    …he deserves his stay there.

I might not go that far. What a person convicted of a crime deserves isn’t really part of our system. Children with substantial cognitive and emotional delays, whose lives can only be described as prolonged horror are routinely deemed mentally competent, tried as adults, and subsequently given very lengthy sentences in very adult prisons. These are often complex cases with equally sympathetic victims whose lives have also been shattered. But it’s hard to find any kind of moral equilibrium in them.

From what I understand, and like nearly all of the Jan 6 defendants, Mr. Angeli had no such disadvantages or traumas prior to his crimes. It sounds like he had a stable and supportive family upbringing filled with encouragement. If I had to speculate I’d say he’s probably someone who suffers from a bit of narcissist/sociopath personality disorder (NPD/APD). He likes attention, he doesn’t regard others as fully human, and he isn’t too concerned about the people around him. I wouldn’t trust anything he says. Given time and the right opportunities he might have become a very successful investment broker or televangelist preacher.

Robinhood Dumbfuck Rabbit, since you bought your pitiful number of Citigroup shares I have sold naked puts against the stock, three times. Collected the premium and the contracts expired worthless, twice. This time I’m under contract until January at a 45 strike price. We’ll see what happens. But you took a $20/share paper loss on your investment. I collected several hundred dollars, twice, and have the same in the bank on the current contract. For those no longer willing to take Robinhood Dumbfuck Rabbit at his word, the opinion is here:

    https://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/21pdf/20-1088_dbfi.pdf

As noted, a neutral benefit program in which public funds flow to religious organizations through the independent choices of private benefit recipients does not offend the Establishment Clause.

    Emphasis mine.

Maine can always end its tuition assistance program to avoid indirectly providing funds for students who attend parochial schools.

The dissents are wrong to say that under our decision today Maine “must” fund religious education. Post, at 7

    236,
Comparing the two maps, I think we can conclude once again that Degen is still an idiot. The two maps are very different. And it’s much more than just Deschutes being “added”.

I think a credible argument can be made that Deschutes county Democrats preferred a Deschutes county candidate. But Schrader didn’t even campaign there. He’s a terrible candidate who ran a terrible campaign and didn’t even seem to care if voters on the dry side voted for him. His campaign operated on the assumption that McLeod-Skinner would trail by significant margins in Multnomah, Clackamas, Linn, and Marion counties. And her margin in Deschutes would not be enough to close that assumed gap. The assumption was entirely wrong. McLeod-Skinner was competitive in every wet side county and won Multnomah by double digits.

Regardless of his politics, Schrader is a putz. He’s a bland, unimpressive, and completely inauthentic candidate. He offered primary voters no reason to vote for him other than force-of-habit and name familiarity. But his politics gave voters scant reason to vote for him either. He doesn’t represent them.

I wouldn’t go so far as to say Schrader’s primary loss is a template for how “conservative” Democrats lose their seats, since very few other “conservative” Democrats are as thoroughly detached as Schrader. FiveThirtyEight and Politico do not get the West Coast right. I’m not even sure they give a shit. In terms of campaign fundamentals and politics, Schrader lost his primary on the west side of the Cascades. And he lost because of dissatisfaction by a very broad ideological cross section of primary voters for diverse reasons. The common thread running through those reasons as I see it is that Schrader was consistently more attentive to donors than to voters.

Does that work for you, too?

The problems with this are so numerous I don’t know where to begin. But I’ll try.

    1. Selling 3M only offsets your oil stock gain if you sell the oil stock, too. Otherwise selling 3M only converts your paper loss into a realized one.
    2. Selling 3M to book the loss and then selling the oil stock so that the loss can be offset means you no longer own the oil stock and it’s “massive” gain.
    3. Since you no longer own the oil stock, there’s nothing your heirs can “step-up” when you croak.

Are you keeping up so far, Robinhood Dumbfuck Rabbit? Because there is more:

    4. By repurchasing 3M at a lower price after avoiding the wash rule period, you will, once again, own a dog stock.

Only in Robinhood Dumbfuck Rabbit’s world can he claim a “tax-free gain” by losing nearly $50/share on a stock purchase. The rest of us call that admitting defeat and booking a loss before moving on.

Instead of 20 minute headways from Angle Lake to Northgate, it will still be 10 minutes north of Stadium Station. Makes sense, besides crossover tracks, there is a holding track just South of the platform. With the crowd I saw on the train I just got off of, 20 minute headways would not work.

    https://www.theurbanist.org/2022/06/21/sound-transit-lessens-pain-for-initial-future-ready-maintenance-projects/

To maintain 10 minute headways, requires 14 trains, 3-4 cars, up to 56LRVs in use. Pre-pandemic peak was 6-8 minutes, done with 12 4 car, and 6 3 car trains.

I don’t know how you can be certain that DPS knew otherwise when it offered false information in its updates, when nobody else of any note seems to be pointing it out

Nobody appearing as a guest on Tucker.

May 25: Texas Department of Public Safety Director Steve McCraw —leading the investigation — said Uvalde police officers “immediately breached, because we know as officers, every second’s a life.” It was not true. And there was no information, no statements, and record supporting it at that time. McCaw made it up to sound good. Even he knew it at the time, admitting mere seconds later, saying it was likely to be anywhere from 40 minutes to an hour that passed between the first children shot and the gunman finally being killed by a team led by BORTAC.

May 27: Texas DPS Dir – leading the investigation – says the shooter gained entry through a back door propped open by a teacher, despite surveillance video in his possession clearly showing that teacher responding to the approaching gunman by running inside, kicking the rock away from the door, and slamming it fully shit. Later, McCaw admits that the investigation showed the door lock was not functional at the time.

Today we learned that despite multiple consistent reports from DPS investigators that the entry team waited for keys to unlock the classroom doors along with tactical gear, breach equipment, and ballistic shields, we learn that they had all that and the doors were unlocked.

Benghazi much? Five separate House committees $7 million.

…the concept of separation of church and state was iterated outside the Constitution.

Sorry I missed this earlier dudes. But this is obviously a huge and fundamental error.

It’s stuns me sometimes how fundamentally ignorance about an important subject doesn’t prevent this kind of sweeping declaration. Yes, indeed. The Establishment Clause is actually in the Constitution. In the text. In the very first amendment to the Bill of Rights, etc.

Fucking moron. Even the dumbest illustrated comic book summary of The Bill of Rights explains the Establishment Clause. Separation of church and state was codified in the colonies (some) for as long as century before the convention.

    Breathtaking stupidity.

Texas police commander: Officers could have stopped the gunman in Uvalde school shooting within three minutes
    https://www.fox7austin.com/news/texas-police-commander-uvalde-school-shooting

Col. Steve McCraw said Uvalde police had enough officers on the scene to stop the gunman within three minutes.

McCraw told the Senate committee that Pete Arredondo, the Uvalde school district police chief, decided to put the lives of officers ahead of the lives of children.

McCraw also said the classroom door could not be locked from the inside.

It’s worth repeating. Bob, any time you feel useless, remember the Uvalde Police are more useless than you.

@300 He’s right. It was “iterated outside the Constitution.” It wasn’t in the Constitution, but was later tacked on as part of the Bill of Rights when it was brought to the Framers’ attention that they forgot to give us any rights.

And six conservative justices regard those guys as infallible and their handiwork as holy scripture.

When I first read the ruling I thought it was a mistake, how can they blur (heck, remove) that line between church and state?

Then I thought a bit more about it and don’t think it is all that bad.

Just wait until the Mooslums and the Satan worshipers setup schools to take those good Christians tax money to teach and worship their god. The law will be changed when that happens.

With the pending gun control legislation, the GOP gets to claim that it did something in an effort to reduce the number of mass shootings, and Democrats lose the ability to claim with any credibility that the GOP does nothing to reduce the number of mass shootings.

The Democrats can’t use gun violence, abortion, or J6 with any success this year.

At least they’ve still got the economy to brag about, and we’ll be well into recession by the time midterm voters make up their minds.
