    I recently read a column in Barrons that suggested monetary policy and financial markets are interchangeable, i.e. if the Fed doesn’t tamp down inflation the markets will do it for them. I don’t think the Fed is raising rates aggressively enough, and Friday’s stock market selloff seems to confirm that.

    Was watching the Season Premiere of For All Mankind to catch up on timeline changes from last season. Specifically who succeeds a term limited Reagan in 1984. Apparently Senator Gary Hart does not dare reporters to look into his personal life, and is elected President in 1984, and again in 1988, Also, One of the bonus features is the 1992 primary. Senator Dole campaigning in Michigan promising to continue investing in electric vehicles. Vice President Gore refusing to go after tge Ark Governor over his real estate dealings.

    Also, fossil fuel industry people were picketing NASA as Helium 3, an element in Nuclear fusion, is found in large supplies on the Moon. With the dialing back of tension following the near breakout of WWIII at the Jamestown lunar colony, seems tge trend of the superpowers avoiding regional entanglement continues. With demand for oil crashing, the Hart Administration stays out of the Gulf War. With no Afghanistan dragging the USSR down, Gorbachev appears to have carried out the transition to his hybrid socialist/market economy.

    TIL that according to Expert Market Timing Analysts not only will Trump pickup an additional 50 new seats in the House and flip the Senate, but Trump will also be consigning the Democratic Party to “minority status” for “decades to come”.

    We all should give credit where it’s due. This kind of Expert Market Timing Analysis must certainly be time consuming and rigorously sourced. And it must require enormous energy and concentration to pull that off even while “conservatives” are otherwise preoccupied greeting the return of JFK from the dead.

    I’m only speculating here. But I think it’s very possible the current televised round of Jan 6 hearings will not reveal the identities of the numerous Trump party House and Senate members who sought presidential pardons for their work in connection to the terror attack. That may be disappointing to some. But I don’t think it should be.

    The perfectly good reason to withhold those identifications is so that it has no impact on any part of the criminal investigations being conducted by the DOJ. Decisions to initiate a criminal investigation into the activities of any Trump party lawmaker and any grand jury indictments should only arise from the evidence. And there can be no appearance of influence in those decisions. Rolling up such a complex conspiracy and obtaining cooperation from lower ranking conspirators will take time.

    The mere existence of numerous pardon-begs from Trump party lawmakers does not prove a crime, even if it does help establish a guilty mind. The sad fact is that the Trump party voters have elected themselves a whole metric shit-ton of stupid to serve in Congress. And they are clearly poised to elect themselves a bunch more this November. But it’s just as likely these stupid assholes were seeking pardons for drunk vehicular homicides, kid-fucking, and financial corruption as for any involvement in the Trump insurrection.

    But this doesn’t have to be a bad thing at all. In fact, by leaving them unnamed, the cool thing then is that all of them become equally “guilty”. It’s just like the Brady Bunch episode where Peter broke Carol’s favorite vase. Only instead of super-nice imaginary sitcom kids it’s depraved, perverted, power-hungry assholes. And instead of only one of them having their heart set on going away for a scout weekend, it’s all 258 of them. Nobody’s going to take the rap for Peter this time.

    Her legal team has raised $460,000 in donations to pay legal expenses for a wrongful death lawsuit. But no lawsuit has been filed, the donations page is disabled, and neither the lawyers nor her family are responding to reporters’ requests for information about the lawsuit status. The lawyer has only said a lawsuit is “coming soon.”

    She was an immediate threat to somebody. And the cop who shot her wasn’t trying to take her life, he was only trying to stop her. He fired only one shot. Not aimed at her head or heart. Looks like projections are showing Macron’s block may be just under the number needed for an outright majority. Le Pen is expected to win between 20-45 seats.
