    Elizabeth Warren
    Mayor Pete

    Leon Panetta
    Val Demings

I wish I could add Klobuchar to this list. She has settled back into the role of spineless leftist. Hard to see her otherwise today.

Yes, I know that Leon Panetta has never run for president. We are all poorer for it.

Hey Railfan, how’s public transportation between red states and blue states?

Texas clinics’ lawsuit over abortion ban ‘effectively over’

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — The Texas Supreme Court on Friday dealt essentially a final blow to abortion clinics’ best hopes of stopping a restrictive law that has sharply curtailed the number of abortions in the state since September and will now fully stay in place for the foreseeable future.
    …
It spells the coming end to a federal lawsuit that abortion clinics filed even before the restrictions took effect in September — and were then rejected at nearly every turn, and in nearly every court, for six months.

“There is nothing left, this case is effectively over with respect to our challenge to the abortion ban,” said Marc Hearron, attorney for the Center for Reproductive Rights, which led the challenge against the Texas law known as Senate Bill 8.

There will be permissive states and restrictive states. Which is not hard to understand, if one actually reads the Bill of Rights.

Baby-killing is not an unenumerated right. Although the parents of G-clown and The Even Bigger Fucking Moron would take issue with that, in hindsight.

The Even Bigger Fucking Moron applied unsuccessfully for admission to Evergreen State College. So, being in the St. Louis area, he was forced to attend the University of Missouri, where he was part of the dumbfuckery that occurred there in 2015.

‘I Need Some Muscle’: Missouri Activists Block Journalists

Tim Tai, a student photographer on freelance assignment for ESPN, was trying to take photos of a small tent city that protesters had created on a campus quad. Concerned Student 1950, an activist group that formed to push for increased awareness and action around racial issues on campus, did not want reporters near the encampment.

Protesters blocked Mr. Tai’s view and argued with him, eventually pushing him away.
    …
“I am documenting this for a national news organization,” Mr. Tai told the protesters, adding that “the First Amendment protects your right to be here and mine.”

The protesters accused him of acting unethically and disregarding their requests for privacy.

“What is so hard about respecting our wishes?” one protester asked.

“Because I have a job to do,” Mr. Tai answered. That elicited a retort: “We don’t care about your job.”

As the video nears its end, the person taking the video, Mark Schierbecker, emerged from the scrum and approached a woman, later identified as an assistant professor of mass media, Melissa Click, close to the tents. When he revealed that he was a journalist, Ms. Click appeared to grab at his camera.

She then yelled, “Who wants to help me get this reporter out of here? I need some muscle over here.”

Melissa Click is disgusting enough to turn any man gay. This dumb cunt thinks demonstrating on a public university quad gives her and her dumbfuck friends a right to “privacy”.

Under George Bridges’s leadership, the college full-time student enrollment has decreased from 4,225 in 2015 to 2,209 in 2020. [34]

I was a student at the University of Missouri in the 1960s; it was a racist campus, and Columbia was a racist town, back then and apparently neither had changed very much 50 years later.

Hence the protests. As for dropping student enrollments, doesn’t surprise me at all. I dropped my enrollment there, too. The University of Washington is a much better school in all respects.

The progressive writer Thorstein Veblen once called Columbia “the woodpecker hole in a rotten stump called Missouri.” Having lived there, I don’t disagree. I could tell you stories.

I remember meeting a girl in one of my classes who was majoring in romance languages. She told me she wanted to become an engineer, but they wouldn’t let her. This was when McDonnell Aircraft was a huge employer in St. Louis, building F-4 Phantoms. She was smart, and good at math so she enrolled in Mizzou’s School of Engineering. She was asked by the dean to withdraw from the School of Engineering because engineering was a man’s job. More than one professor told her she would not receive a passing grade in his class, again because engineering was a man’s job. They also told her she wouldn’t get a job in the field because engineering was a man’s job. She was encouraged to become a teacher. So she majored in romance languages.

I could tell you more stories, like how the frat boys would dress up in Confederate cavalry uniforms and ride horses through the campus on some Confederate holiday (I forget which one). A hundred years later, Quantrill’s raiders were still popular among that set.

Whatever happened at Evergreen State College, and I wouldn’t know because I was never there (some fragile conservative student’s feelings were hurt?), I doubt it’s worse than the environment at Mizzou.

Still, I love the show , especially Season 2 with the Space Shuttle having few delays, and 10 were built by 1983. Enterprise was an operational shuttle, with Columbia, Challenger, Discovery, Atlantis, Endeavor plus 4 others, Beagle, Victoria, Constitution, and Kon Tiki. In Ep1 of Season 2, the last one was shown docked at SkyLab. Sound Transit, King County Metro, Pierce Transit, Community Transit, Everett Transit, Kitsap Transit, and Washington State Ferries rolled out the Orca Card system in 2009. Now they are rolling out the replacement. Seen something similar in Portland, but the Central Puget Sound agencies are not adopting the Fare capping option. Love the idea of being able to reload value on the card via an app instead of the Ticket Vending Machine. On a side note, CT needs to replace the TVMs at SWIFT Stations with something similar to what Sound Transit uses. Especially with SWIFT due to connect with LINK once tge Lynwood Extension opens.

64)Except Transit seems to get people to care when fuel prices go up. Also, comes in handy, for the sports crowds. Sounders FC, Kraken, Seahawks, Mariners, all provide riders. My Great Uncle wondered why the Kingdome, and it’s replacements weren’t built in Kent. This is why, T-Mobile Field and Lumen Field are astride major transportation hubs,.

Metro has always seen ridership spike with gas prices going up. First time, nearly 50 years ago, and thankfully they had a few good people left from Seattle Transit to show them how. From what I read about Metropolitan Transit Co, they literally had no idea what they were doing. Their buyout went to creditors, Seattle gave Metro back it’s money from the purchase of Seattle Transit so Metro could begin the rebuild of Seattle’s trackless trolley network. Hopefully Metro will have the 48 fully electrified next year, Wished they could do the same with the 8 but there are longer wire gaps on Denny and MLK Jr Way. Just like the 48, residents had to petition hard to get the 8 extended down MLK Jr way to close a gap in crosstown services. The 48 is a success, believe Seattle Transit started it around the time of the Thompson Expressway debacle.

Seen an example in my neighborhood of how bus routes can be changed. Like what we got now with Route 50, but the route it replaced, the 39 Seward Park changed over decades. Originally a series of Municipal Street Railway shuttle bus routes, under Seattle Transit, it ran from Mt Baker via 38th, a quick cut over Dakota to Rainier, then it’s longtime routing via Genessee, 50th Ave S, through Seward Park and onto Seward Park Ave to Rainier where it met with the suburban operator at Lakeridge Park. Metro played with it over the years,, with a downtown routing on the North end, curtailing the south end to RB, then adding service to Southcenter, and through routing to North Seattle. Frequency was always the problem. In its final years, just like the 50, the 39 fed into LINK at 3 stations, but tough connection between a constantly late every half hour bus and a timely train running pretty frequently.

Immediately after his comment, a member of the audience asked if O’Rourke supported CRT in schools, to which the gubernatorial candidate said, “No, I don’t think [CRT] should be taught in our schools.”

I agree with Beto, CRT is not meant for K-12 schools. There are elements that overlap, but CRT is meant for Law schools.

Critical Race Theory is not being taught in pre school.
Critical Race Theory is not being taught in elementary school.
Critical Race Theory is not being taught in Junior High.
Critical Race Theory is not being taught in High School.
Critical Race Theory might be taught in Law school.

“There is little to no evidence that critical race theory itself is being taught to K-12 public school students, though some ideas central to it, such as lingering consequences of slavery, have been.”

“Critical race theory is not something we teach to students,” said Lisa Luten, a spokeswoman for the school system. “It’s more of a theory in academia about race that adults use to discuss the context of their environment.”

“But the theory also has become somewhat of a catchall phrase to describe racial concepts some conservatives find objectionable, such as white privilege, systemic inequality and inherent bias.”

A black guy complains to his boss about racist behavior by his co-workers. The boss gets his fishing buddy, the local police chief, to have the black guy arrested on false charges.

The black guy eventually got $415k from his employer and $600k from the city. The police chief retired on a pension after being arrested for DUI. The chief who succeeded him was fired for defending the corrupt cops and calling the cop who falsified the police report a victim (the city decided to clean up its image).

On Friday, the cop who falsified the police report was charged with a misdemeanor.

Before this case, three officers with that department had accused the corrupt cops of false arrests and lying in previous cases.

The review also revealed a string of defaults, settlements and lawsuits alleging that Walker and his businesses owed millions of dollars in unpaid loans.

105)I’ve been busy at work lately. Office renovations complete, plus more people returning to the office means more work. I’m the only one worried about the excessive overtime, for now. Was in a tough spot Friday night. Don’t know why the first bus didn’t show, might be a diver shortage, but could also be, because the 32 is assigned out of North Base. South Campus in Tukwilla is where new busses except trolleys arrive, North Base in Shoreline is where ones due to be retired tend to end their careers. Currently the 31/32 since the October service change, have been using Orion VIIs, 2009 purchase, now the oldest 40ft busses in the fleet. Used to be with Seattle Transit and for the first half of Metro’s existence, that would still be considered fairly new. The industry standard for retirement is 12 years.Bus could have broken down. Not all passengers are like me, who tries not to break it. Case in point, my stop on Nickerson is very close to the previous one, I make sure not to pull the chord at the last minute, partly because it’s a long walk from the next stop on the32.

Probably might be getting some of the XDE40s and Gillig Advantage from South transferred to North once the Battery-Electrics enter service. They are a replacement for the Diesel bus, not the trolleys like Governor Baker’s idiots at the MBTA just did to Boston’s small fleet. The plan is replacing them with BEB’s that have diesel heaters. The Boston fleet had an oddity, a door on the left side to access an underground platform near Harvard.

    Mississippi, 2013-2016

    136 pregnancy-related deaths. They include

    • 51 directly related to pregnancy
    • 23 maybe or maybe not pregnancy-related (breast cancer, cardiomyopathy, etc)
    • 62 unrelated to pregnancy. Of these:
    • 33 motor vehicle deaths – largest single cause of death in
pregnant and post-partum women in MS
    • 10 homicides
    • 7 suicides
    • 9 drug ODs

The study examined post-partum as birth to 6 weeks, or after 6 weeks. It didn’t examine, say, first through fourth quarters after birth, which would be useful to determine whether additional coverage was needed after 6 months or so. It was an examination of death certificates, not medical records Nope, they just wanted to increase the duration of coverage six-fold, without looking at whether doubling or tripling it would be enough.

Not everything requires a knee-jerk response. Had a bill been written to expand care to women in their 40s

The highest pregnancy-related mortality rate (deaths per 100,000 live births) occurs among women aged 35 to 39 (43.4 deaths per 100,000 live births) and over 40 (138.9 deaths per 100,000 live births).

it would have passed, because the numbers support it and the cost is far less.

The link is the whole study report. It’s a shitty study. It’s why the bill failed. For 2017-2020, actual medical records can be used to try to find something useful to guide legislators, rather than a generalized recommendation based on shitty study design.

Medicaid doesn’t help shitty drivers. Medicaid doesn’t keep boyfriends from stabbing their girlfriends or prevent women from hoopin’ the George Floyd cocktail at 37 weeks, when it’s a near-term baby on their diaphragm instead of a knee on their neck that causes the hypoxia. Medicaid doesn’t help if obese women (> 2/3 of the deaths in the cardiac and thromboembolic categories were to obese women) use the money they save for a couple of extra trips to Popeye’s each week.

    It was a shitty study.

In a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, almost 4 percent of pregnant woman admitted to recently using marijuana. The leg of victim Susan Leyden – cut off from the knee down – was captured on surveillance video when her accused killer Harvey Marcelin stood up from the wheelchair while inside the store, Chief of Detectives James Essig said at a Friday press conference.

“She gets up out of her wheelchair there and the leg is right there on the seat,” Essig said.

The chief did not specify when Marcelin, who also went by Marcelin Harvey, went on the horrific shopping trip.

Marcelin, an 83-year-old transgender woman, was arrested March 4 after she was identified as the person who ditched Leyden’s headless, limbless torso in a shopping cart at Atlantic and Pennsylvania Aves. in East New York. The NYPD says Leyden’s head was found inside Marcelin’s home.

    137, 141,
Gabbard is absolutely a Putin asset insofar as, like Degen, she is actively invested in and engaged in ongoing criticism of liberal democracy.

Authoritarian regimes presiding over managed democracies, like Russia, Brasil, India, and Venezuela, are constantly burdened with demonstrating “prosperity through strength”. And part of that burden includes ongoing criticism and political destabilization of liberal democracies that surround them. For that they need assets within those liberal democracies like Gabbard, Ron Johnson, Tucker Carlson, Trump, and Degen.
