    I remember once BC Ferries used Social media for their own Santa Tracker exercise.     I was searching the internet last night for something about how evangelicals view this mission. There doesn’t seem to be a fundie outcry against it. Do they simply ignore scientific findings they disagree with?

    I found a website with a series of articles that attempt to reconcile “Christian beliefs” with science, obviously written by someone who’s quite intelligent, and not polemic. Game effort, but there’s no way Biblical literalism and modern science can live side-by-side; they can’t both be right.

    More plausible than their Creation myths is Bible creation. People have always needed to rationalize things they don’t understand, such as life and death, the questions of origin and existence, the visible universe. That’s human nature. So they formed beliefs and told stories. The Christian Bible seems to have captured the religious legends of its time and place, along with recording some tribal history.

    @218 No, let’s visit it right now. Employers who pay less than subsistence wages, and are allowed to do so by ridiculously low minimum wage laws, are subsidized by taxpayers. Not just during the pandemic, but all the time.

    Labor is an input cost, just like materials, space rent, overhead, etc. Although it’s not mined out of the ground or grown in fields, nevertheless it costs workers money to supply their labor. They need food, shelter, transportation, etc., to work.

    And when work pays less than the cost of those things, as it does in most GOP-run states, those workers are kept on line by government subsidies for housing, food, and child care assistance, Medicaid, etc. In those instances, taxpayers are paying part of the employer’s labor costs.

    A minimum wage set at the livable wage level is a taxpayer protection law, pure and simple.

    You’re obviously too stupid to figure that out.

    Oh, one more thing: When unemployment benefits are more than wages, that doesn’t mean the benefits are too generous, it means there’s a problem with the wages.
