The impetus for it being green lighted this time, is the TF33 engine has not been produced since 1985., and spare parts are getting harder to source. They may have even depleted the Boneyard on this one. Previous plans included using bigger engines and reducing the number to 4. This plan, will keep it at 8. Probably won’t have to redesign the B-52’s unique throttle.
Retirement could be 2040 or later.
EvergreenRailfan spews:
2 Continued…
It’s amazing about the engine replacement. The airframe itself, the B-52H, production ended around 1964, and the rollout of the XB-52 was in 1952. Throughout it’s career, many theorized new weapons systems and new planes would make it obsolete. Now many of those systems are retired, or about to be. The B-21 Raider is cgoingbto be replacing B-1 and B-2s. Something recently installed for creature comforts on long missions, and taking into account the needs of a group of pilots not allowed to fly it until recent decades, a better toilet.
Also, the mission and attack prod file has changed. The original mission, penetrate at high altitude, Soviet Airspace and drop free fall Thermonuclear weapons on targets. Then after Gary Powers was shot down, it became low level, and in Vietnam, a conventional bomb truck. Now it drops GPS guided smart bombs.

I just want to be clear about this, and now I am being quite serious.
The claims that Burka Bob made yesterday that at least “one hospital had 25% incidence of” .. “hospitalized patients who are asymptomatic” .. “get classified as a Wuhan patient”.
This is straight from anti-VAX Facebook.
This belief in corruption among frontline medical professionals, and “hospital conspiracies” is one of the shibboleths of the increasingly extreme COVID anti-VAX community. They are sharing among themselves their own “truths” about hospitals infecting their family members and then drowning them to death on ventilators “for profit” as a form of Medicare fraud. And the fear and paranoia they have inculcated among themselves it what is driving the home treatment industry.
This actually predates the pandemic. A profound fear of science in general, and medical science in particular runs very strongly through these communities, often alongside devotion to charismatic evangelism. And it opens enormous opportunities for financial exploitation of those duped into the fears. All those ridiculous and at times toxic bleach and silver nitrate solutions being pimped by televangelists and prominent “conservatives” come from the same place.
But it’s very important to understand just how manifestly evil this has become during the pandemic. And we have now seen Burka Bob delve into this evil very specifically and very directly. First, fabricating falsehoods intending to discredit vaccination. And now more recently fabricating statistics to claim that hospitals are faking COVID numbers.
It needs to be very clearly understood what “conservatives” like Burka Bob are doing here. It’s not innocent lulz. They are killing people.

…corruption among frontline medical professionals…
I don’t think corruption is the correct word. And if by “frontline medical professionals” you mean ER and ICU physicians, I don’t think they are the ones responsible for coding a Wuhan positive patient.
It’s really not hard to grasp a concept that there are two pools of money, one more generously doled out than the other, and that classifying a patient in the more generous category for reimbursement results in…
wait for it…
greater reimbursement.
The federal government has created a financial incentive for treating patients with The Wuhan. Of course hospitals will take advantage of this. Administrators ultimately either make the coding choice or are fine with the choice.

Whether by corrupt intent or corrupt incentive, the key point is that it simply does not exist. The entire thing is a paranoid fantasy that exists exclusively in the minds and on the Facebook pages of the anti-VAX/anti-science rapture community.
Again, yesterday Burka Bob got excited and promised to cull through his voluminous Facebook group “research” to find the definitive data study “proving” that yuuuuuuge numbers of current “WHUHAN” patients are just comorbidities being intentionally reclassified for higher reimbursement.
But his own data study that he quoted, when you do the simple math required, demonstrates that at worst according to the author’s deliberate choice of the greatest potential error, the percentage would be no more than 0.35% of all hospital admissions – that is 25% of 1.4% of all hospitalizations that might possibly be reclassified for increased reimbursement – or about 1700 hospitalizations out of 530,000.
It’s statistically trivial. But anti-VAX cultists like Burka Bob cite it as evidence that the entire pandemic is fake or that well proven public health practices like masking or quarantining are fraudulent. Just like he made up pretend friends as evidence that vaccines are unsafe.
It’s important to understand here, this isn’t just Burka Bob. This is the entire right hand end of the political spectrum in America. Bob’s a good example. We’ve all seen this transformation in him, even if he hasn’t. He began as a Trump-curious “conservative” “rationalist” who leaned into Trump because of “woke, PC liberal hypocrisy”. Today he’s an openly racist, misogynistic authoritarian who casually trafficks in absurd tales of “leftist FBI conspiracies” and who rejects basic foundational principles of democracy and medical science in favor of peroxide inhalers. He is living proof that a person simply cannot “dabble” in these kinds of dangerous ideas and philosophies without it changing them permanently.
And it’s the entire right wing of American civic life that has been changed. Probably as much as half of all “conservatives” are now essentially beyond reason or meaningful compromise. Which is what makes posturing by Democrats like Sinema and Manchin useless and ignorant. There comes a point in any confrontational or adversarial relationship when the overwhelming evidence demands abandonment of rational actor theory in favor of a more efficient model.
Biden, Pelosi, and Schumer and the rest of America now find themselves bound up in a political relationship with angry, paranoid, cultists. And it’s only going to get worse. As with Trump before, there will be no pivot. The extremism, fear, and hysteria among them will only increase with time. They will continue to define themselves exclusively in terms of who and what they oppose. And that will increasingly limit and diminish meaningful prospects for compromise or inclusion.
Democrats have to start being straight with voters about this. They have to stop defining themselves to voters in terms of legislative bipartisanship in the mistaken belief that this will credit them with success. Words like “Republican” need to be cleansed from their vocabularies. They have to stop speaking with their voters about that other party or those other party leaders. And instead they have to talk about those other voters. It’s Trump’s GOP now. Accept it. And move on.

Elijah SFA McDotcom spews:
In Idaho the state’s only not-for-profit hospital system now reports a 1000% increase in COVID-19 admissions since the end of July.
How exactly does 1000% compare to 0.35% in terms of patient admissions? Well, it means that if the system saw 1000 admissions for COVID-19 over the entire month of July, then 3 to 4 of those admissions might possibly be admissions that could have been admitted for some other diagnosis, reimbursed at a lower rate.
But it also means this: that the same hospital system would now be on pace to admit 10,000 patients for COVID-19, and 34 of those admissions might be labeled COVID-19 merely for the higher reimbursement rate. Now that’s a six hospital system with a grand total of 437 beds. So it’s safe to say they are NOT admitting 10,000 patients. Duh. But it does mean that with the state’s new rolling daily average of 1300 new cases per day, all of them Delta, that all Idaho hospitals are now over capacity and have been now for almost one full month. Every bed is taken. Every ICU bed is taken. Every PICU bed is taken.
So obviously what it also means is that patients presenting with COVID-19 infections are being sent home, or sent to Spokane, or sent to Salt Lake City.
According to Burka Bob’s Facebook Group this has nothing to do with Ida-fucking-ho having the lowest rate of vaccination, refusing to mask, refusing to quarantine, and refusing to close even one single mini-casino for even a day. It’s all because of reimbursement rates. Now when you think about how unhinged and brain-fucked that thinking really is, remember also that this is absolutely a sincere belief on his part, and on the part of nearly every single soon-to-be dead Idaho anti-VAXer circling the drain.
If they would rather suffocate on a ventilator with broken teeth, smashed faces, swollen legs, blackened feet, and luridly inflamed bed sores than admit that they were wrong, how likely is it that you can reach a legislative compromise on voting rights or recovery spending?

Stupidity should be painful.
So should poverty. Run the numbers, YLB. There’s a correlation with per-capita income as well.
So should skin pigment. Look at the vaccination rates, YLB.
So should poor health. Look at the medical risk factors, YLB.
This is why I refer to you as an unserious twat, YLB. You pull a headline or subheadline, cheerlead it, and give no thought to it before doing so. That you give it no thought hides the fact that you don’t comprehend well enough to understand even if you did give it a thought.

Of course, since you mentioned sabotage, there’s this little goodie from two days ago:

Should the Climate Movement Embrace Sabotage?
For far too many of your ilk, Railfan, the answer is an immediate Yes.
Chill out, and realize that you gave me @ 53 exactly what I was hoping for.

Still too close to call in Germany. Plus, it only determines who will be negotiating the next government. If it’s Schulz, could be a Traffic Light Coalition, Laschet it would most likely be a Jamaica Coalition. Since the SPD and the Union block say they won’t do another coalition, Grosscoalition and Kenya coalitions may be out. With Die Lienke barely at 5%, The Red-Green-Pink coalition is out.

It’s a valid and current passport.
And you’re still an ignorant liar.
What the fuck do you think an attorney can do that anyone else can’t? There’s no Monell claim here unless the cited practice is either written down as official policy, or has been carefully and repeatedly documented as part of a pattern and practice. In the time it takes to establish the claim elections come and go and she still doesn’t get to vote.
So some fuckwit clerk prevented another “hippie” from registering to vote. All she can do is write letters and eventually sue for relief.
That’s not how this shit is supposed to work. And if they put an attorney through it like this, imagine what some retail clerk on their lunch break goes through.
Republicans are preventing citizens from voting because citizens hate Republicans. And citizens hate Republicans because they are preventing them from voting. It’s a self-licking ice cream cone.

I feel confident saying that as far as Burka Bob and Republicans are concerned, if a bus driver can manage to kill enough opposing voters, or perhaps crash their bus in a way that destroys a polling place in a poor neighborhood, they’ll face being elected to Congress.

The most interesting part of the day, the Party leaders having a televised debate while the results were rolling in. As I said, coalition talks will be starting soon. The SPD and Green Chancellor candidates seem to be very friendly, even running in the same district. Sholz won, but Baerbach should be in on the list vote. The Greens have come a long way, they started being considered Chancellor material in 2011 after winning the State election in Baden Wurtemmberg, and being re-elected with the CDU as their junior partner. They just need to work with the pro-business liberal Free Democrats and they will determine if the CDU or the SPD controls the Chancellory.
Most likely it will be a Jamaica or Traffic Light coalition (named after combinations of party colors).
Baden-Wurttemberg, home to where the German Constitutional Court sits in Karlsruhe, is an interesting state. The light rail network is impressive, Although some parts of the Karlsruhe Model can’t work here.
