    50 years ago, in Eastern Washington, 4 Burlington Northern passenger trains were making their runs toward Seattle, After the next day, only the Empire Builder would be part of the new Amtrak network. Looking at Burlington Northern’s 2nd and last Passenger timetable, would have loved to have something like BN 29/30., the Mainstreeter., calling in Cheney, and the westbound run at a decent hour.

    While Eastern Washington lost most of it’s service on May 1, 1971 , over the last 50 years, what is now the Cascade Corridor actually had more service now on it’s pre-pandemic schedule. In 1971, BN operated 1 round trip to Vancouver B.C., 2 Seattle-Portland round trips plus Union Pacific’s 1, and South of Portland, Southern Pacifics Cascade to Oakland ran only 3 days a week.

    As an accidental fan of the Handmaids Tale, couldn’t wait much longer for Season 4. It’s not disappointing, so far. The plot has exposed Gilleads real motivations, and it’s not about reversing declining birth rates as the regime suggests, but control. If it was all about the kids, as Gillead claims while trying to get the 86 kids smuggled out on the Angels Flight at the end of Season 3 returned, they wouldn’t have threatened Offreds older daughter to get her to reveal the location of the other fugitive Handmaids. Figured she would escape again though, the trailer showed her on the run through war-torn Chicago (Changing hands several times I guess since A Gillead troop surge against defenders loyal to the Anchorage Government in Season 3), as well as testifying before what looks like a war crimes court, and not what passes for a court in the occupied US..

    Got mixed feelings about the Angels Flight, the kids were smuggled to Freedom, but they are not old enough to understand the Freedom they lost. In keeping with Atwood’s basing the book on things that religious fanatics and totalitarian regimes have done in the past, what Gillead did to the kids in the first place, reminds me of Argentina in the Dirty War. The parents were disappeared, and the kids adopted by regime loyalists. In the show, they are tracking down living relatives that escaped to reunite.

    FYI. Samsel is the second Kansas legislator to be arrested this year. State Sen. Gene Suellentrop (R) was arrested in March after driving while drunk and trying to evade police which led to a car chase. He was forced out as the Majority Leader of the state Senate, and many called for his impeachment, namely Samsel, although there are no procedures for impeachment in the Kansas Legislature.

    I asked why there can’t be another solution. Why can’t there be another solution? Like maybe not banning transgender athletes from competing, but put an asterisk next to the name and Identify them as transgender. And give the first place non transgender individual a first place postion too.

    And when it comes to records, have two catagories, one for non transgender and one for transgender.

    79) It’s Idaho, good chance any legislator that’s in the news will be a Republicans. If it was a Democrat, they would probably be expelled from caucus immediately, even if it will cut their numbers even further. Still they probably have more Democrats in the Idaho Senate than the GOP has in the Hawaiian Senate. I think the latter is back up to one.
