    It’s about the taxes.

    Two weeks ago House Ways and Means filed motions in their suit to obtain Trump taxes which revealed that committee lawyers have obtained the cooperation of an IRS whistleblower(s). The whistleblower affidavits credibly allege a pattern and conspiracy of misconduct at the IRS in its handling of the Trump audits being directed by the White House.

    The allegations and affidavits are material to the committee’s rule 12 motions to compel. Absent such a ruling the committee would have to await a verdict at trial which, with prolonged discovery and appeals could take years. The existence of eye witnesses offering credible sworn affidavits of misconduct on the part of the Sec Tres can potentially advance that schedule a whole lot. Treasury gets to respond to the allegations. But judge is obligated to view the evidence in the light most favorable to the moving party.

    I strongly suspect that Treasury has very little to offer in response and the White House has been informed of this fact. So if a release of Trump taxes is going to happen sooner rather than later, we should expect the White House and its allies to mount a big campaign to discredit media reporting along with lots of trial baloon distractions.

    And there it is. Right on schedule.

The FBI is investigating “whether the man assaulted” the ICE agent who shot him. The immigrant, who turned himself in to authorities, hasn’t been arrested or charged. His attorney said, “that is because the evidence does not support the ICE agent’s version of events.”

    A cooperating foreign intelligence agency provided intel to the FBI that employees of the 2016 GOP Presidential campaign were seeking back channel overtures and secret meetings with agents of The Russian State. All of which turned out to be 100% true and accurate.

    The fact he’s in custody for an immigration offense doesn’t preclude the FBI from arresting him for assaulting a federal officer, if they choose to do so. So far, the FBI doesn’t seem to think it has probable cause.
