    First the Governors election had the count disputed in NC, and then theyou take powers away after the GOP incumbent lost. Just when I thought I had seen everything.

    In 2004, when Mitt Romney was MA governor, the Democrat-controlled legislature passed a law removing the governor’s authority to appoint someone to fill a vacant US Senate seat, and then overrode his veto. This was back when MA US Senator John Kerry was running for president.

    A few years later, when Ted Kennedy croaked, the Democrat-controlled MA legislature passed a law permitting the Democrat holding the governor’s office at the time to fill the US Senate seat vacancy immediately, by appointment.

    Legislators messing with the authority of governors of the opposite party is nothing new. When a Republican once again holds the NC governor’s office and the NC legislature reverses to give him/her more authority, that won’t be new, either.

Well, guess what, when you have a labor shortage it usually means the pay isn’t enough to attract people into the occupation. Seattle is a boom town, rents are soaring, nobody can live here on $10 or $12 an hour. I went to Louisa’s website, checked out their menu, their prices aren’t cheap — about $15 for breakfast or lunch. I can get a teriyaki lunch for under $10 in my neighborhood, or a really good deli sandwich at my local grocery for around $7 or $8. Eastlake isn’t a poverty area. The location must have been okay, because they were there for 20 years. Yeah, it’s gotta be the minimum wage. That’s gotta be it! The minimum wage killed Louisa’s Cafe! So, Boob, if Louisa’s Cafe couldn’t hire cooks at the current minimum wage, how would not raising the minimum wage help them stay in business?
