    Just when will the house get a speaker? It’s not good for the country. Unfortunately, not any moderates would survive, if there are any, the GOP caucus. If they did, they might have got Democratic support.

    Looking at the national poll averages, it kind of interest how similar Trump and Carson have tracked since late August, both rising, with both peaking September 20th with Trump at 30.6% and Carson at 20%. Then both fell off, hitting lows around October first. Trump bottomed out at 22.8% and Carson at 16.3%. Since then, Carson has come back to 19.3%, near his previous high. Trump has more or less flatlined, now at 23.6%.

    After peaking in the national poll average on July 12th, Jeb! started tanking, hitting a low of 7.7% on September 21st and has gone nowhere since, now at 8%. And he was supposed to be the better politician of the two brothers? Trump nailed it. The guy is a snooze.

    Following her first prime-time debate, Fiorina shot up to 11.8% on September 23rd, but has been steadily ever since and is now at 7.8%. I take it you can only get so much milage out of lying about dead fetuses.

    From September 18th to 23rd, Rubio went from 5.3% to 9.3%, but hasn’t moved the needle much since and is now at 10%. There’s talk of him being the new guy for billionaires like Adelson, but I’d say it’s just talk until he shows some more movement up the polls. Until then, he only leads the pack that’s being left in the dust.

    I’d say the way to look at it is, how much support do the batshit insane candidates have, because when they fall out of the race, I struggle to see their support going to Bush or Rubio.

    Trump, Carson, Cruz, Huckabee, Paul, and Santorum have 57.2% of the poll average. The batshit insane have taken over the party. That’s all there is to it. It will eventually come out that Carson believes the pope is the Antichrist. That’ll end whatever Catholic support he has.

    IMHO, I predict it’ll come down to Trump and Cruz fighting for the batshit crazy vote, and if neither drops out, either Rubio or Bush will have a path to the nomination, and I’d put my money on Rubio over Bush. But if Carson drops out, Trump gets the nomination. Why? Because the majority of the GOP base is batshit fucking crazy.

    When Rubio came out with his energy policy yesterday, it became clear that he’s just another run-of-the-mill Republican hack who panders to the ignoramuses populating the party’s grassroots, and lacks the courage to lead. His policy is nothing more than GOP retread: Drill, baby, drill; there is no climate problem. And the EPA is an evil commissariat that must be reined in.

    One reason I decided to post this comment, based on a 7 1/2-year-old Seattle Times story I accidentally found while looking for something else, is because ST didn’t buy into this shit. They did straightforward reporting on it. The Seattle “paper of record’s” news staff is good for something, even if its editorial board isn’t.

    The sad thing is that there isn’t a better paper for them to work for — and that we don’t have any choices on our ballots when electing a prosecuting attorney in this county.
