I wonder why the trucker protest fizzled? Was it the comments by the alleged “spokesman” that crossed the line? Plus, if it had been as big as they claimed it would be, what would they have done if an emergency vehicle had to get through? As for the Capital Beltway traffic, would be great to have a more robust DC Metro system, although the lines do touch the Beltway. The Metro needs it’s own Beltway, all the current lines radiate from Downtown.

Seeing them fly American flags from their trucks makes me want to puke. Too many good Americans have died defending that flag for it to be used this way. When will these people realize they don’t speak for most Americans? That wrapping the flag around their crackpot ideas don’t make them less crazy? That interfering with other peoples’ right to use the public roadways doesn’t make them right?
You know what would happen if counter-protesters got in front of these truckers on an interstate and made them drive 15 mph by blocking all the lanes? We all know what the truckers would do. I’m not suggesting anyone do the same thing to them. All I’m asking from them is stop behaving like assholes. But that’s asking for too much, given who they are.
Do you know a Democrat who lives in Washington’s 8th Congressional district who would like to make a difference by being a Congress person?
I wish I did. I’ve got money and friends with money who’d like to help that person.
Dave Reichert, a Republican, represents the district currently and he can be beaten.
Just the other day Public Policy Polling (PPP) released a poll of the WA-08 [pdf].
Go take a look at the polling results [pdf]. The lousy Sheriff can be beaten in 2014.
More importantly, Reichert should be beaten in 2014 for the benefit of Washington’s 8th Congressional district and the USofA.
Factoid: CNBC reported today that private borrowing in the first 9 months of 2013 was $6 trillion, or 35% of the national debt.
Corporations routinely renege their debts in bankruptcy court, but there’s no outcry over that.
The federal government has never failed to pay its debts (although Republicans are trying to change that), yet government borrowing provokes outrage and horror. Why is that?
Weird.

Roger Rabbit Commentary: No, it doesn’t make you racist, it makes you stupid. And maybe Joe isn’t a racist, or even stupid, but he’s definitely a lawbreaking scofflaw who racked up dozens of traffic violations in Arizona, skipped out on the fines, and then practiced the plumbing trade in Ohio without a plumber’s license. He also lied to the media about owning a plumbing business when he didn’t, and about what his income was. So who cares what a yahoo like him thinks? Joe’s a role model only for people who think like he does.
According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Joe got 23.4% of the vote in his run for Congress.
That’s still better than Byron “Low Tax” Looper, the worst Republican candidate of all time.
Looper, in case you’ve forgotten, got only 4% of the vote in an election in which he was the only name on the ballot.
Looper murdered his opponent 29 days before the election, after it was too late to replace him with another Democrat. His former opponent’s widow ran as a write-in and got 96% of the vote. Looper, in addition to his 4% of the vote, got life without parole.
That sentence has now been completed. Looper was found dead in his prison cell on June 26, 2013, two hours after assaulting a pregnant female counselor.
Hmmm, I didn’t know Low Tax Looper has been Raptured. He was only 48 years old. The autopsy report said he died from an enlarged heart, but his family claims he must have been injured when prison guards did a take-down after he assaulted the pregnant female counselor, after which he was placed in an isolation cell, and then was found unresponsive two hours later. They want another autopsy, claiming he must have suffered a head injury or something like that. I don’t know how you can injure cement. Does anyone here have an idea how a blockhead like Looper can sustain a head injury? It might crack if it was held together by low-quality rebar, but I don’t see how that could damage anything vital to the organism.

A follow up to the last part of my post@1, their is a Metro Belt line in the works, sort of. While not a Washington Area Metropolitan Transportation Authority project, the Purple line being built by the Maryland Mass Transit Administration, will connect the Maryland suburbs. It will be a light rail, not a heavy rail line. It should go further, but it would have to have the Commonwealth of Virginia on board.
