The Central Japan Railway Company(JR Central) has announced that construction on the Chuo Shinkansen, a high speed rail line between Tokyo and Osaka next year. The first phase from Tokyo to Nagoya will open in 2027, and the second phase in 2045. What sets this apart from the other Shinkansens, is this one will be a MagLev.

This does not mean that they are giving up on conventional high speed trains. There are still two of those under construction, the Honiruku Shinkansen will not be finished unti the 2020’s, and the Hokkaido Shinkansen will open in 2015 to Shin-Hakadote just north of the Seikan Tunnel, and Sapporo by 2035. The Seikan Tunnel is an engineering masterpiece, as it currently hosts conventional passenger and freight trains, which in Japan are Narrow Gauge, but designed with the capability to put a third, standard-gauge rail in, so the Shinkansen trains can use it.

Wisconsin is a jaw droppingly beautiful place. I’m going to be camped out at Lake Wissota State Park for the next two nights and riding the Chippewa River and Old Abe trails, so come on down and bring your bike.

You could fairly easily account for 20 million unemployed workers by, um, a lack of jobs that supposedly would be created by the rich in exchange for their special tax privileges.
Which would seem to be an argument for revoking those special tax privileges. Retroactively, if possible.
