Ummm…I somehow though a song with the lyric “I wanna be elected” was somewhat fitting for the event.
I am not sure that exactly qualifies as a “thing” (I mean, have I even mentioned Alice Cooper before on this blog?). If so, it is probably my age—I was an impressionable pre-teen when Alice Cooper was (supposedly) biting the heads off of bats…. How could I not be influenced?
Gee, that video took me back – mid 1970’s fashion really sucked. How did we ever look at ourselves in the mirror?
Oh, I remember now. I wore t-shirts, blue jeans, dingos, and flannel shirts and an old army jacket when it got cold.
When my son turned 18, I found the Alice Cooper song “18” on the internet, and played it for him. He just gave me a strange look, shook his head, and mumbled something about Alzheimers setting in early….
Just a little note to remind you wingnuts to jump in your gas-guzzling, fumes-spewing F350’s or Hummers and drive on down to your favorite wingnut watering hole. There you can swill your favorite booze and puff out you chests while strutting around braggin’ about who’s more “conservative”.
Come think of it, I believe that’s a great idea – just go further to the right. Please! Please do that! It’s absolutely the best thing you can do for yourselves. Just do the Rudy 911 Tourettes thing or the panderin’ Mittsters paeans to Saint Raygun.
Some of you Christianist Reconstructionist Theocratic Rapturists are for Huck, the Limbaugh-addicted Dittoheads are for the Panderin’ Mittster and a few are for McCain even though you’re embarrassed to say so. You all are so full of fear at the wave of change that’s comin’, so scared you don’t even know it’s comin’. Imagine being so shittin’ your pants scared and in denial you carry on as if everything’s just peachy – we’re “winnin'” in Iraq, the Chimp is the second coming of Churchill and we’re gonna “kick ass” in November.
Oh but this psychological state of denying reality takes it toll. Pretty soon it’ll take every bit of energy you got to keep puffin’ out that chest and blamin’ your situation on the “moonbats” or the “libruls” – anyone but your own miserable selves. You may get to guzzlin’ white lightning and lighting a match to your mouths to keep up the lagging energy.
Keep guzzlin’ that gas and downin’ those shots wingnuts. It’s gonna be nothing but pure joy from here on out!

I suppose it doesn’t surprise me that you don’t respect an artist’s intellectual property. While what McCain is doing isn’t copywright infringement, it does lack integrity. McCain’s use of an artist’s product for his own purposes, knowing that such use is inconsistent with the artist’s wishes, does not speak well of McCain. He should use music in the public domain or music written by a Republican (of course, there is precious little of that because composing music requires creativity and Republicans are a bit short in that category).
I like Alice Cooper – or at least the older stuff – but don’t really care for this song.
