Join us at the Seattle chapter of Drinking Liberally for an extraordinary evening of electoral politics under the influence. We officially meet at 8:00 pm at the Montlake Ale House, 2307 24th Avenue E.
Many of us will show up at 5:00 pm (when the place opens), and enjoy the excellent cuisine while watching the election returns.
Tonight’s theme song? Alice Cooper’s Elected, of course:
If you find yourself in the Tri-Cities area this evening, check out McCranium for the local Drinking Liberally. Otherwise, check out the Drinking Liberally web site for dates and times of a chapter near you.

Drink heavily, lads and lassies, but use a designated driver! DUI is an incredible hassle, and they never let you forget it!

Darryl, what exactly is the story behind your ‘thing’ about Alice Cooper?

“Darryl, what exactly is the story behind your ‘thing’ about Alice Cooper?”
Ummm…I somehow though a song with the lyric “I wanna be elected” was somewhat fitting for the event.
I am not sure that exactly qualifies as a “thing” (I mean, have I even mentioned Alice Cooper before on this blog?). If so, it is probably my age—I was an impressionable pre-teen when Alice Cooper was (supposedly) biting the heads off of bats…. How could I not be influenced?

Gee, that video took me back – mid 1970’s fashion really sucked. How did we ever look at ourselves in the mirror?
Oh, I remember now. I wore t-shirts, blue jeans, dingos, and flannel shirts and an old army jacket when it got cold.
When my son turned 18, I found the Alice Cooper song “18” on the internet, and played it for him. He just gave me a strange look, shook his head, and mumbled something about Alzheimers setting in early….

Just a little note to remind you wingnuts to jump in your gas-guzzling, fumes-spewing F350’s or Hummers and drive on down to your favorite wingnut watering hole. There you can swill your favorite booze and puff out you chests while strutting around braggin’ about who’s more “conservative”.
Come think of it, I believe that’s a great idea – just go further to the right. Please! Please do that! It’s absolutely the best thing you can do for yourselves. Just do the Rudy 911 Tourettes thing or the panderin’ Mittsters paeans to Saint Raygun.
Some of you Christianist Reconstructionist Theocratic Rapturists are for Huck, the Limbaugh-addicted Dittoheads are for the Panderin’ Mittster and a few are for McCain even though you’re embarrassed to say so. You all are so full of fear at the wave of change that’s comin’, so scared you don’t even know it’s comin’. Imagine being so shittin’ your pants scared and in denial you carry on as if everything’s just peachy – we’re “winnin'” in Iraq, the Chimp is the second coming of Churchill and we’re gonna “kick ass” in November.
Oh but this psychological state of denying reality takes it toll. Pretty soon it’ll take every bit of energy you got to keep puffin’ out that chest and blamin’ your situation on the “moonbats” or the “libruls” – anyone but your own miserable selves. You may get to guzzlin’ white lightning and lighting a match to your mouths to keep up the lagging energy.
Keep guzzlin’ that gas and downin’ those shots wingnuts. It’s gonna be nothing but pure joy from here on out!

They brought it on themselves.
Politically Incorrect spews:
As long as Hillary doesn’t get elected, I don’t care.

marvin…yup, that’s old YLB.really classy guy.you notice how he actually names the expensive cars that he wants but can’t have? classic!
YLB…..no matter who wins in november..it won’t be YOU.
get it? you will still be the same sad miserable envious loser you are right now….maybe worse…….after all ,what excuses could you possibly have for being ‘you’ if there was a democrat in the white house?
come to think of it…what would goldy talk about?

It’s a long way down!

Roger Rabbit is sick and can’t attend tonight, but don’t start celebrating yet, trolls — the veterinarian says I’m gonna live.

That’s good Pelletizer. Who would we have to kick? At least you are cogent on legal issues.
We haven’t determine what Clueless Idiot is good at yet. Oh yes, being an idiot.

Rock songs for Republicans from an ex-republican:
Dear Mitt: It is a long way to the top – if you want to rock and roll -(ACDC)
McCain: Imagine (endless war…) JL
Huckabee: We don’t get fooled again (the Who)
Tlazolteotl spews:
@3: I could have sworn you used an Alice Cooper song or two for previous DL themes…but I could be mistaken! If you say you haven’t, I believe you – I will have to try to figure out where the hell I got that impression though. Maybe I need to up the omega-3 supplement dosage!
Tlazolteotl spews:
Oh, and you know that Alice is a Republican now. I propose for the next DL a theme song by Ted Nugent. Hmm, I don’t think I can even recall any of them except for Stranglehold. Must suck to be Ted Nugent. And yes, I am of an age to recall Ted and Alice too.
@4: I thought about playing 18 and School’s Out for my nephew, but I suspected he would have about the same reaction your son did. Funny, though, I know kids that age who like Marilyn Manson, and I just think of Alice, Ozzy, and Lemmy, and laugh. And the guys in Bauhaus. Peter Murphy is still hardcore.

Puddy.
As a Republican, I understand you are a coward. Why did you avoid this post on a previous thread?
Puddy,
I suppose it doesn’t surprise me that you don’t respect an artist’s intellectual property. While what McCain is doing isn’t copywright infringement, it does lack integrity. McCain’s use of an artist’s product for his own purposes, knowing that such use is inconsistent with the artist’s wishes, does not speak well of McCain. He should use music in the public domain or music written by a Republican (of course, there is precious little of that because composing music requires creativity and Republicans are a bit short in that category).
Mary Higdon spews:
I like Alice Cooper – or at least the older stuff – but don’t really care for this song.
You really should check out
Fired Up and Ready to Go. It’s quite popular – over 55,000 YouTube views alone – and in just a little over ONE WEEK.
Local musicians (The Bergevin Brothers, Rev. Pat Wright of the Total Experience Gospel Choir, and Matt Cameron of Pearl Jam, plus others) wrote this song specifically for the Obama campaign. Watch the YouTube video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LyJ72iZ3tW4.
Even better is the story about how the song came about, a collaborative effort by musicians who had never played together. From Seattle. From the people! Read about it here.
Yes, I’m supporting Barack, as I have for over a year. Seeing the returns tonight from across the nation is sweet vindication indeed!

Proud leftist: As a conservative…is more like it. I just happen to see more R than D in many of my positions.
In the words of a 1900s based ASSHead NEW Progressive democrat clueless idiot – “I don’t answer to the likes of you”.
And you never answered my attacks on H Carl McCall, Mike Steele and Lynn Swann. You never answered my questions on Gary Ridgway. When you find your “courage” to answer those fine historical questions your audacity to call me a coward is unbelievable… now I hear your mirror image calling you!
Politically Incorrect spews:

Hey, is there a post-caucus drinking liberally event at the Alehouse on Saturday? Thanks!
