Well, I’m not a sophisticated market timing speculator. But for that troll to wind up losing money in absolute terms the price would have to fall a bit below the strike to eat up his premium. And given how many people were looking to short Tesla at the time, he might have been paid reasonably well. But weighing against that is the strike price he set. He said it was trading at $170 at the time. So his buyers are accepting a 25% loss before they get to exercise the option.
So maybe he ends up owning a few thousand shares of TSLA at something close to the bottom and has to wait another year to buy new patio furniture. He isn’t going broke. He’s just having a few miserable weeks between Thanksgiving and New Years, and buying something he didn’t plan on for what he hopes is a bargain price.

Has to. That’s how it works in civil trials. Judge isn’t making any determinations at all about the claims other than they are capable of being established if the plaintiff can find evidence. The law and the circumstances must be viewed in the light most favorable to the party bearing the burden of proof, the plaintiff. The claims that get tossed are the ones that, by their very nature, are not capable of being heard, or for to which the law can’t be applied, or over which the court has no jurisdiction to hear them.

You’re entitled to a trial when there are disputed material issues of fact. In a motion to dismiss hearing, the judge does not rule on whether the factual claims are credible or supported by probative evidence. He only determines whether, if the allegations are proved, the party asserting them is entitled to legal relief.
Lake alleged, and the judge gave her an opportunity to prove, that Maricopa County’s ballot printers were “intentionally rigged to affect the election results,” and “did actually affect the outcome.”
To prove that, she has to produce evidence that the printers were intentionally set to print in light ink, prevented votes from being counted, and affected her voters more than Hobbs’ voters in sufficient numbers to change the election result.
She won’t succeed in proving any of that. County election officials will testify that about 20% of the printers inadvertently printed ballots in ink too light to be read by polling place tabulators, so they were taken to the county election office, which has more sensitive machines that could read them, and all were counted. They will also testify that voters could and did use the lightly-printed ballots, but if they didn’t want to use them, they could go to another polling place.
If thousands of Lake supporters, steeped in rightwing election conspiracy theories promoted by Lake herself, got mad and went home without voting, that was their free choice of their free will, not something scheming Maricopa County election workers deliberately did to them.
The trial is today and tomorrow, so you won’t have to wait long for the verdict. I’m guessing the county will ask the judge to make Lake reimburse their defense costs.
The House released a report disclosing Donald and Melania’s taxes. You can read the report here. It reveals that the Trumps reported $0 taxable income in 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2020; paid alternative minimum tax (net of tax credits) of $641,931 in 2015, $750 in each of 2016 and 2017, and $0 in 2020; and paid taxes of $999,466 in 2018 and $133,445 in 2019. Only the 2015 return was reviewed by the IRS, and that audit wasn’t completed. Presidents’ tax returns are supposed to be audited every year, but none of Trump’s returns for 2017, 2018, 2019, or 2020 were subjected to that process.

The report doesn’t show Trump cheated on his taxes, although nobody really knows, because he wasn’t audited. Taken at face value, his tax returns show he lost money hand-over-fist most of the time.
Anybody who knows Trump can guess, though. Bloomberg’s experts don’t have to:
