The big news story today is that Japanese authorities concealed how bad the radiation releases were to avoid panicking the public.
In my opinion, no matter how good nuclear technology gets, the nuclear industry — and the government bureaucrats who pretend to regulate them — just can’t be trusted with something as potentially destructive as a nuclear reactor.
Even a Volvo can kill people in the wrong hands.

Republican Texas legislators trying to legalize carrying concealed handguns in that state’s college classrooms have been stopped three votes short by a campus revolt against the proposed law. Students and professors in droves have objected to allowing people to carry guns in classrooms.
