We meet tonight and every Tuesday at the Roanoke Park Place Tavern, 2409 10th Ave E, Seattle. You’ll find us in the back room of the pub. We start at 8:00pm.

    Trump to Puerto Rico: “Sorry, our troops are tied up annexing Greenland and retaking the Panama Canal, so you’re Venezuelans now.”

    Puerto Rico’s new Republican governor is drawing attention to Venezuelan strongman Nicolás Maduro’s military threats against the U.S. island in the wake of President-elect Trump’s calls for U.S. territorial expansion.

    In a letter to Trump dated Monday, Gov. Jenniffer González-Colón said Maduro’s plea for Latin American troops to invade Puerto Rico “is an open threat to the United States, our national security and stability in the region.”

    It’s obvious why Trump considers Greenland more vital to U.S. interests than defending Puerto Rico: Strategic location, oil and minerals, and white skin.

    @1 We don’t need the 16th Amendment. We can borrow money from China to pay for aircraft carriers and F-35s. I’m sure they’ll lend it to us at the same interest banks charge on credit cards.

    I wouldn’t recommend military action against the US in Puerto Rico by Venezuela. It would not end well for Venezuela.

    While Puerto Rico’s full independence from the US should be our goal for that island, the Venezuelans have no part in that scenario.

    @5 Really? Where’s Trump gonna get an army to defend Puerto Rico, when they’re tied up in Greenland and Panama? That’s Maduro’s point. Trump doesn’t want Puerto Rico anyway; he made that clear by tossing a roll of paper towels at them when they begged for hurricane disaster relief. You should learn to read between the lines, son.

    What today’s Hegseth hearings made clear is that in Trump World, which is all of the GOP these days, character doesn’t matter, and personal loyalty to Trump does.

    @9 Not me. I didn’t vote for Bill Clinton. Is he a sleazebag? Yes. But he’s not a convicted criminal, and he didn’t send a mob to overthrow an elected president.

    Trump tried to take away my freedom to choose who will govern our country. Clinton’s offenses are trivial compared to that. Getting a blowjob in the Oval Office didn’t deprive anyone of their rights. Jan. 6 was an attack on the rights of 81 million Americans.

    I think you need a better sense of proportion.
