It’s still summer and it will be for another month. Believe it or not many and probably most undecided voters in swing states are still undecided and will not start thinking about how to vote until autumn.
So while massive poll movement toward Harris/Walz is indeed very good news and makes it fun to waive in the face of MAGA turd idiots, these are still best thought of as early polls that can change especially in swing states.
More older polls matching Biden-Trump will age out of averages in the weeks ahead. And more polls will be modeling likely voter turnout. So the focus of polls will be getting clearer.
But in the end polls don’t decide elections. Voting does. So campaigns matter. Messaging matters. And turnout matters. It’s very good to see Harris/Walz honing a simple, clear, positive message focusing on the future addressing key voter concerns. And it’s even better to see a unified and energized progressive electorate eager for the work ahead.
