DLBottleIt’s a beautiful day! Join us this evening as the Seattle Chapter of Drinking Liberally gets together to raise a toast and chat about life, politics, and summer plans.

We meet tonight and every Tuesday at the Roanoke Park Place Tavern, 2409 10th Ave E, Seattle. You’ll find us in the small room at the back of the tavern or, perhaps, on the back patio. We start at 8:00pm.

    With 34% of the precincts reporting, the “jigaboo” guy running for the Democrat nomination for Senate in Maryland, David Trone, is getting 47.1% of the vote. A woman who would take exception to his racial slur, Angela Alsobrooks, is getting 49.1%.

    Trone is doing significantly worse in the city of Baltimore. Go figure.

    Tidbit of the day: Did you know that the city of Baltimore is not located within any county?

    This should put an end to HA libbies’ claims of genocide in Gaza.

    The Biden administration does not believe that Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan told reporters in Washington on Monday.

    “We do not believe what is happening in Gaza is a genocide. We have been firmly on record rejecting that proposition,” Sullivan said.

    Common sense should have prevented the claims in the first place, except for unserious twats like Queen YLB.

    The school had little choice but to cut the diversity program.
    State lawmakers voted in March to cut $1.73 million from the University of Wyoming’s block grant and forbid state funding for the school’s diversity program. At a packed Board of Trustees meeting in March, students, educators, and community members rallied in support of DEI initiatives, and the Board of Trustees pledged to vote on a path forward at their May meeting.

    The racist politicians forced the school to abandon DEI, even through the students, educators, and community members wanted it. (Didn’t they say they were the party of local control) So the school got rid of the umbrella DEI label but dispersed much of the functions of DEI across the school.

    For the third time this month a large convoy of 90 trucks full of approved food aid was heading from Jordan to Gaza when it was stopped by armed Israeli settlers in the West Bank and destroyed yesterday.

    Police on duty did nothing. Some of the armed settlers have been identified as off duty police.

    I really don’t think it’s going to be hard for this jury to reach conviction here. To turn it around his defense will need to give the jury some alternative way of understanding all these fraudulent arrangements, the payments, and the tape recording. Whatever they come up with will probably either sound thin and improbable or completely ridiculous.

    I think the alternative way of understanding is to decry foul after being found guilty by the jury. Like a stolen election that wasn’t stolen, this trial and charges are all fake!!!! And that is the only ultimate defense. He doesn’t have to convince a jury, just the knuckle dragging Neanderthal folk like Bob The Horse Lover.

    I agree that much of the defense seems to be focused on how the ultimate criminal conviction will play out before an audience of ignorant, aggrieved, mouth breathing, loyal MAGA donors like the Village Idiot.

    But I would also point out that when these criminal charges were finally brought a little over a year ago, and in the wake of over 90 other felony indictments in other cases and other jurisdictions, it was “widely agreed” by “experts” that any conviction on these charges would be difficult if not impossible. Much was made at the time of the resignation of a lead prosecutor from Bragg’s office over the decision to move ahead with a grand jury. Based on that alone major corporate media like the NYT engaged in open cynicism about the merits of the case, even before they had any idea what the evidence and testimony would be.

    Now it’s more than a year later and the prosecution is close to resting their case. And so far, and barring any surprises from the defense, it’s been a very thorough and clockwork prosecution displaying absolutely none of the weaknesses or complications predicted by all those media “experts” last year.

    So the most likely reason the defense isn’t focusing on obtaining an acquittal is that they can’t.
