    As if the university is obligated to serve them breakfast in bed or serve as their personal Door Dash.

    Oh, and she worried that without sustenance the students would die of dehydration. In a building with water fountains. And starvation. After spending fewer than 24 hours in the building they took over.

    Actually they would be. Student, their parents, contract for services. If you live in a dorm on almost any college campus that includes meals. If the University shuts down the kitchen, they are responsible to refund the part of services not provided. This is simple contract law.

    For example, in my college dorm year our IDs were digitally scanned at Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. On Sunday’s we only got Lunch. On several Sundays it was announced that the cafeteria would be closed but, as required, they would distribute a voucher that was good at any OTHER dorm building or valid for $7 at any on campus eatery. Imagine that. You used to be able to get a not great personal pizza and a drink on campus for $7. The Taco plate in the building next to the main library was $4.95.

    Students who transferred to another State School or withdrew but had paid their dorm fee were refunded the pro rated portion of their meal plan.

    Good God you are a clueless dickhead about everything.

    So when Columbia decided to shut down the Campus due to a not at all violent “Stop the Killing of Women and Children” protest The University made the decision to no longer provide the services for which students, and their families, had paid through the end of the school year. They whined about people starving to death fewer than 24 hours after taking over the building. They whined about people dying of dehydration after taking over a building with working wall-mounted water fountains and full restroom services.

    Effective immediately, access to the Morningside campus has been limited to students residing in residential buildings on campus (Carman, Furnald, John Jay, Hartley, Wallach, East Campus and Wien) and employees who provide essential services to campus buildings, labs and residential student life (for example, Dining, Public Safety, and building maintenance staff). There is no additional access to the Morningside campus.

    The only access point into and out of campus is the 116th Street and Amsterdam gate. All other campus entry points are closed. Security personnel will remain in place at the Wien Gate for individuals requiring disability access to Wien Hall and East Campus.

    This access restriction will remain in place until circumstances allow otherwise.

    The safety of every single member of this community is paramount. We thank you for your patience, cooperation and understanding.

    Yes, I’m afraid it’s actually true, that losing previously “safe” red district while vastly outspending your opponent and with the full backing and support of your party’s leadership including its soon-to-be nominee for President is losing badly, even if it was losing narrowly.

    Pelosi all but conceded the district. Brave Kevin tagged it as “must win”. Kent was held up as the “perfect” Republican. Glussenkamp Perez was completely unknown and had no outside support.

    There’s also non-dormitory student housing that had dining access, but don’t now. They closed dormitory dining halls to non-dormitory students with meal plans and redirected them to other locations.
