Without context it sounds like a large number. Except that 2016 was Barack Obama’s victory lap, and even in that year there were 354 bankruptcies through July, on the way to 576 for the year. Context is important, Queen YLB.
So yes, Queen YLB, there are 13.8% more bankruptcies in 2023 than there were in Barack’s last full year in office. Doesn’t sound like such a large number now, does it, especially when one factors in an increase in the number of companies in existence over that 7 year gap between 2016 and 2023. In fact, if businesses grew in number only 2% per year, that growth (assuming a constant rate of failure) would explain the 13.8% increase over those 7 years.

And the platform is also capable of supporting the entire array of long range weapons systems. But NATO members have continued to argue for limitations fearing potential escalation. And while details remain highly classified, there is speculation that Ukraine’s F-16 compliment, when fully assembled, might be restricted to ground only radar networks and fewer, less capable weapons.
So now that Russia has been caught conducting drone attacks upon another NATO member, Romania, will those objections to fully implementing the F-16 melt away?
Hope so. Ukraine won’t have full capability with the advanced tactical fighters until next year. And they’ll have limited capability for the next six to eight months to gain proficiency in using the weapons platforms and surveillance networks. But by next year 100 fully operational NATO F-16 really could rapidly accelerate the Russian defeat and bring most of the conflict to a close.
It’s important to recognize that Ukraine is no more interested in escalation of the conflict than NATO and honestly, probably far less so. For the foreseeable future, and regardless of whatever else happens with respect to future NATO membership, Ukraine will continue to be the focus of Russian territorial aggression and will have to be prepared to confront a highly militarized eastern border with Russia. From the very beginning of the current war Ukraine has been perfectly clear and very precise about their own objectives. And they have made incredible progress at their own expense in achieving those. Right now they understand this conflict better than anyone else, and that probably includes Russia. Properly equipped and supported they can finish evicting Russian aggressors from their own sovereign territory and then prepare to defend a hostile frontier for the decades ahead. There are tremendous strategic advantages in that outcome for NATO and for the US. It’s an outcome the US should invest in fully.
