The Seattle Chapter of Drinking Liberally meets every Tuesday at the Roanoke Park Place Tavern (2409 10th Ave E, Seattle) starting at 8pm out on the back patio. Some folks may meet in the back room of the pub to stay warm.

Chapters of Living Liberally are all over the place…if you can’t make it to the Seattle chapter, there is probably another nearby chapter for you.

    950 arrests, 500 guilty pleas, dozens of convictions, 1 full acquittal.

    This sovcit wasn’t acquitted. She was part of a lynch mob, then landed in jail for violating her pretrial release. Now she’s got “credit for time served” to look forward to.

    Two Defendants Indicted for Civil Rights Conspiracy and FACE Act Offenses Targeting Pregnancy Resource Centers
    Two Florida residents were indicted by a federal grand jury for spray-painting threats on reproductive health services facilities in the state.

    The indictment, returned by a federal grand jury in the Middle District of Florida, alleges that Caleb Freestone, 27, and Amber Smith-Stewart, 23, engaged in a conspiracy to prevent employees of reproductive health services facilities from providing those services. According to the indictment, as part of the conspiracy, the defendants targeted pregnancy resource facilities and vandalized those facilities with spray-painted threats. According to the indictment, Freestone and Smith-Stewart, and other co-conspirators, are alleged to have spray painted threats, including “If abortions aren’t safe than niether [sic] are you,” “YOUR TIME IS UP!!,” “WE’RE COMING for U,” and “We are everywhere,” on a reproductive health services facility in Winter Haven, Florida. The indictment further alleges that facilities in Hollywood, Florida, and Hialeah, Florida, were also targeted.

    Y’all might wonder, as y’all should, why I find this newsworthy.

    It’s ’cause these two POS were committing domestic terrorism at pro-life pregnancy crisis centers.

    Of course, I’m not saying they should; “pregnancy resource centers” are a scam, but that doesn’t justify vandalism or threats.

    Okay. So defacing the exterior of a building with paint is “domestic terrorism”.

    But rounding up a few thousand friends to plant pipe bombs, tear down barricades and fencing, assault police, and storm and occupy Congress in order to prevent an election from being finalized is not.

    The FACE Act charges are a slam dunk and entirely proper. The law was written precisely to create a federal charge for these kinds of offenses.

    The Klan Act may be a stretch. But I’m down for it. If this works a whole bunch of J6 conspirators, Oath Keepers, Proud Boys, Boogaloo Boys, and Three Percenters can be re-indicted for J6. Plenty of time left. Maybe they can get this case in front of the GOP’s favorite judge. That would make it harder to disavow or challenge later.

    Then the Civil Rights Division can expand on that and apply the same legal arguments to all kinds of ultra MAGA, extremist right wing groups all over the place. Stephen Miller could be next. Don’t forget, asylum seekers would be protected by the Klan Act too.

    BREAKING: Former Arlington teachers union president arrested in Fairfax County

    Gant led the Arlington Education Association (AEA) for six years before being ousted last spring along with her executive board.

    FCPD says it was notified of her potential theft last September after an internal audit determined she had “failed to provide financial reports and failed to file tax returns,” raising concerns from Arlington Education Association board members, per the release.

    “Calibre CPA Group was hired to conduct an audit of the funds. After six months of reviewing the activity, it was determined Gant embezzled $410,782.10 throughout her tenure as president,” the release said. “Detectives were notified and began their investigation, while working closely with the accounting firm and AEA to review the documentation. Detectives determined Gant provided herself with multiple bonuses and used debit cards for unauthorized purchases.”

    Gant was terminated on March 30, 2022, according to police. By April, the National Education Association, which represents educators and staff from public school through higher education, was temporarily leading the AEA under an emergency “protective trusteeship,” ARLnow first reported.

    There go the Congressional hopes and dreams of this Democrat.
