The Seattle Chapter of Drinking Liberally meets this evening for politics, drinks and good cheer. We’d be happy to have you stop by.
The Seattle Chapter of Drinking Liberally meets every Tuesday at the Roanoke Park Place Tavern (2409 10th Ave E, Seattle) starting at 8pm out on the back patio.
Chapters of Living Liberally are all over the place…if you can’t make it to the Seattle chapter, there is probably another chapter nearby.
Here in Missouri it’s 101 , but with humidity feels like 113. Gonna have excessive heat all week. But thanks the The Extreme Court annex of the Federalist Society, the Federal Government has less tools to combat Climate Change.
This is decade when ordinary people start to notice.
On the plus side, gas is 20 cent down off it peak. If it’s the Democrats fault when it goes up, will Democrats get credit when it goes down? Who am I kidding, This is Missouri

Metro King County Council is earmarking $500K to assist with abortions. Now that’s putting your money where your mouth is! Congrats to them!
@1 “the Federal Government has less tools to combat Climate Change”
That’s what air conditioning is for. Of course a/c is a feedback loop; the more people turn up the cooling to combat the hotter climate, the more power they use, which puts more CO2 in the atmosphere, which speeds up warming, so they turn up the a/c more, which draws more power, etc., and then one day we get runaway greenhouse effect and our planet becomes another Venus. Air conditioning no longer works when the surface of the planet is molten rock.
The parade shooter will spend the rest of his life in a cage. He’s only 21, so that could be a very long time. What was he thinking? He obviously didn’t intend to die. He tried to escape, but did he actually think he would get away? That didn’t work out so well.
Possibly several decades from now he’ll come to his senses and look back on his foolish youth with regret. And ask a parole board to let him out, because he’s seen the error of his ways, and is a changed man. And may even be genuinely surprised when he finds no parole board or governor will risk their reputation, career, and public approval on his promise to be a model citizen from then on. These are things he should’ve thought about beforehand. It’s too late now.
I wonder why the cops didn’t shoot this guy 60 times, or beat him to death in the paddy wagon? Professional courtesy to a fellow white supremacist?

A new government program could enable poor women to pay for abortion travel by collecting bounties from Republican congressmen who send their mistresses to Mexico.

Anyone downplaying Cassidy Hutchinson’s role or her access in the West Wing either doesn’t understand how the Trump WH worked or is attempting to discredit her because they’re scared of how damning this testimony is.
Next week she testifies.
Former deputy press secretary for Trump to testify at an upcoming January 6 committee hearing
(CNN)Sarah Matthews, who served as deputy press secretary in the Trump White House until resigning shortly after the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol, has been subpoenaed by the House select committee investigating the insurrection and has agreed to testify at an upcoming hearing, according to two sources with knowledge of the investigation.

What’s on the ballot in November?
Ds and Rs. Names of candidates with party affiliations.
Voters who want more rapid fire gun-humping slaughter, fewer civil rights, more billionaire tax cuts, and abandoning NATO are going to turn out and vote for Rs.
Voters who are appalled by all that are going to turn out and vote for Ds.

@7 “Incompetence is on the ballot. Inflation is on the ballot. $5 unleaded and $6 diesel are on the ballot. Senility is on the ballot.”
Assuming all of this is true, in 2020 voters preferred that to Nationwide Forced Birth, privatizing their Social Security, ignoring their votes, and abolishing Public Schools, and might well do so again. Republicans don’t exactly have a winning platform.
@15 “The coming food shortages are on the ballot.”
They were staved off for a day or two today.

You know, if Trump were still president, Europe probably would be buying wheat from Putin by now, at Putin’s price. Biden at least is putting up a fight.

Has been for 100 years, if not longer.
26,
A heartwarming and beautiful family story.
It’s rich family connections and memories like those that will sustain him in his final years in prison.
Looking back over recent years I must admit to one big surprise.
I never would have imagined how much Degen completely gave himself to Trump. It’s been shocking. And it’s been very nearly Every Republican You Know.
@30 Especially when the big black guy seated next to him dumps mashed potatoes on his head.
@31 I think of Trump supporters as starving prisoners eating cockroaches.
Don’t know if this has been posted here yet, but the last surviving member of Easy Company, 2nd/506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division has passed away. Bradford Freeman was the last of the Band of Brothers.

Pat Cipollone will appear and testify under oath Friday.
QAnon Shaman has dropped his baseless appeal and will serve out 31 months remaining in his felony conviction for invading the joint session.
Lindsey Graham, having received a lawful subpoena to testify from the Fulton County Georgia prosecuting attorney, has issued a press release essentially proclaiming himself above the law. His official statement omits any lawful or competent reason for refusing to testify. He declares his disagreement with the investigation. He declares his lawful purposes in pressuring state officials in Georgia to overturn the election. He declares his entirely unfounded and baseless opinion that subpoenas issued by a state prosecutor to compel testimony of a member of Congress would “erode the Constitutional balance of power”. Also something about the Fulton County prosecutor being a mere Black female… so like duuuuuh.
@36 So if Senator Graham shows up at a bank with a Thompson submachinegun, orders the tellers to put all the money in a duffle bag, and the FBI arrests him on the way out, that upsets the balance of power between the executive and legislative branches?
In any scenario, I would suggest stealing the presidency is a bigger deal than robbing a bank.
@35. I can imagine why Little Linsey is afraid to testify because he’s guilty as hell, but it’s sad to see a further erosion of Rule of Law by republicans.
Republicans “Rules for thee, none for me.”
