The Seattle chapter of DL meets every Tuesday at the Roanoke Park Place Tavern (2409 10th Ave E, Seattle) starting at 8pm out on the back patio.

    Deutsche Bank is the first big bank to forecast a US recession

    The recession call — the first from a major bank — reflects growing concern that the Fed will hit the brakes on the economy so hard that it will inadvertently end the recovery that began just two years ago.
    “We no longer see the Fed achieving a soft landing. Instead, we anticipate that a more aggressive tightening of monetary policy will push the economy into a recession,” Deutsche Bank economists led by Matthew Luzzetti wrote in the report.
    That forecast is driven by red-hot inflation, with consumer prices rising at the fastest pace in 40 years.

    Of course, Biden won’t be alive to see it, so why the fuck should he care?

    @6 Deutsche Bank isn’t spewing Putin propaganda here. They’re the first major bank to predict a recession, but lots of the financial world is thinking the same thing. Fed officials are talking up a “soft landing,” but just about everyone else (including yours truly) thinks that’s la-la-land.

    What Doctor Dumbfuck elided from the quote, no doubt deliberately, is that Deutsche Bank is predicting a “mild” recession in the 4th quarter of 2023, more than a year and a half from now.

    He apparently would also have you believe that recessions are something other than regular occurrences and a normal feature of capitalist free market economies.

    The end of March came and went a week ago and the GOP’s Russian backed campaign Deathstar app Truth Social continues to circle the bowl.
    Recall now that the GOP and Devin Nunes sacrificed a perfectly safe House seat so that the dairy farmer could run a tech company, as one does.
    And now both the House seat and the tech company are in mortal jeopardy.

    They elected an eleven times bankrupted, failed reality television star who pays adolescent girls to jerk him off wearing rubber gloves even after they heard him bragging to a bus load of complete strangers about his long history of getting away with sexual assaults. They launched their own investigation into their own campaign collusion with Russia. They stand by him and continue to support him even when he praises white supremacists, Nazis, and war criminals who rape and execute children like Putin. They stand by and support him even when he responds to a devastating deadly global pandemic by advising people to eat horse liver paste and shove flashlights up their asses. They stand by him and support him even when he conspires with an international war criminal like Putin to destroy Ukraine. And when because of all that they lose an election they collectively lose their shit and launch a “fat grandmother” attack on Congress to stop the election certification.

    It’s good to keep all that in mind when you see them call Joe Biden “an imbecile”.
    It’s also good to keep in mind that Republicans aren’t even close to being done fucking up yet. Not by a long shot.
