Europe gets (or used to) ~150 billion cubic meters of natural gas from Russia a year. Flying under most people’s radar is Cyprus, which Forbes magazine speculated in a 2014 article could become an alternative gas supplier to Europe. Yesterday, Cyprus and Exxon confirmed discovery of a 5-8 trillion cubic meter reservoir of “high quality gas.” According to rabbit math, there’s gas equal to ~30-50 years of Russian exports to Europe in this one reservoir alone. Of course it’ll take some time to develop, and Turkey disputes ownership. But unless I’m mistaken, this has “Putin can go fuck himself” written all over it.
If the Turks and Greeks can forget their past “difficulties,” this Aphrodite discovery would be a game-changer for that part of the world where Europe and Asia meet.

There was a tale about a laptop told by a very strange, cosplayer filled with uncorroborated details and involving a disbarred N.Y. lawyer with a history of lying about the Biden family and financial ties directly to Putin.
The alleged laptop, if it even existed, was always in the possession of people working for Trump. And yet it still hasn’t turned up.
What there was, that we know for sure, was a bunch of copied data stored in a large file image and passed around among a whole bunch of Trump campaign operatives. Some small portion of the total appears to include genuine copies of emails from Burisma seized by a corrupt former state prosecutor in Ukraine in 2014. The same corrupt former state prosecutor with longstanding ties to the disbarred N.Y lawyer.
Trump supporters like Degen need a laptop.
Because in the end, when Trump becomes their nominee again in two years, they need a pretext for once again getting behind Satan. This is therapy for them. On a very basic level, they know that supporting Trump is wrong, that it’s disloyal to America, and that it betrays democracy. And they know that ultimately, it is destroying their party. But as we’ve pointed out so many times before, they no longer have any choice that doesn’t involve enduring massive losses in elections in the near term.
Sad clowns need a laptop to keep moving forward with Trump.

It’s now five days since Associate Justice Thomas was secretly rushed to the hospital gravely ill with an undisclosed infection.
Since word of his illness was finally leaked late Sunday there has been no further word from the Court. And as of this morning the Court is refusing to respond to any questions or provide any updates on Justice Thomas’ continuing hospitalization.
Five days in a hospital bed in this day and age is a serious thing. They discharge heart surgery patients in less time than this.
Thoughts and prayers.
The last time a justice missed this many days of argument was when Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was recovering from cancer surgery in January of 2019.
In less than two years she would be dead.
Previously when justices have been briefly incapacitated by minor infections or injuries, even when they have been hospitalized, they have participated in oral argument remotely from their homes or from the hospital.
It is therefor quite noteworthy that so far there are no plans from the Court to have Justice Thomas listen in or remotely participate in argument going on this week. Something about his condition may be preventing his ability to listen and take part.
