The DOJ Inspector General for intelligence issued a report detailing a substantiated whistle blower complaint deemed “urgent” from within the NSC alleging misconduct. By statute the Director of National Intelligence is required to share such complaints with the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence as part of oversight. Having failed to do so for the past two weeks the committee has issued a subpoena due today. The DNI has now indicated to committee staff that he is being ordered not to comply with the subpoena.
Who gives orders to the DNI again?

He has informed the committee that he has been ordered to withhold the report from the committee. The statute literally directs the DNI to forward such reports to HPSCI within ten days. No such statute exists or existed with regard to correspodence within the DOJ being provided to unemployed Darryl Issa fishing expeditions.
Legally, how long ago that order was given is of no consequence except as it might relate to the statute of limitations for criminal obstruction, contempt, or any other violations. Issuing a subpoena stops that clock until such time as a court rules.

Well, up until this administration, whenever an agency was either reluctant or resistant to complying with statute or subpoena for document production, they at least offered a reason, they provided some form of production, and they didn’t try to lie about it.
In this case, the IC IG had to go around the ODNI to inform the HPSCI that the report even existed. And production of the report is compelled by statute. The language is unambiguous.
So in a way the subpoena is really just a courtesy (undeserved by any measure). And in some ways, issuing the subpoena for the document weakens the statute. They should be issuing a subpoena for the arrest of the DNI – he’s in violation of the law. Cut and dried. But that would be up to AG Quisling. So Schiff is trying to be methodical. The subpoena would precede a criminal charge of contempt. ODNI might have a leg to stand on if they had issued a redacted version of the report. But instead they tried to bury it and prevent the committee from learning about its existence. Wonder why.

I understand that plight of the homeless but I think the homeless need to be held accountable too. Sure things are very unaffordable but that doesn’t give a homeless person the excuse to be belligerent, dirty, drunk, and litter. Sure that doesn’t describe every homeless or the majority of homeless but that is the face of the homeless that people see when they walk down the streets and they are sprawled out on the sidewalk with food and packaging littered all around them.
Sure they need help and some bigger solution need ms to be done, but they also have to help themselves and assume some responsibility and care for themselves. I know easier said then done when there is no care of mental health.
I do t think the solution is subsidized housing in the sense that not all things need to be equal, meaning if you only make $60,000 then you don’t belong in a penthouse high rise, for lack of a better explanation.
Part of the solution to homeless is being single. Not everyone should marry and have kids they can’t afford just because that’s what is the normal. And especially know how to earn and save. Marriage can lead to divorce and with that could come palimony. You can end up homeless pretty quick.
