But never mind the fact that taxpayers currently subsidize the housing, food, child care expenses, and medical care of minimum-wage workers, because not even a chicken can live on $7.25 an hour.
Raising the minimum wage to make employers pay for their labor instead of handing these costs off to you and me is a taxpayer-relief measure.
From a Republican business owner’s point of view, if he can’t own slaves, then making you and me pay for his labor is the next best thing.
This is just fine with Republican legislators and voters, who claim to care about taxes paid by the little guy (we all know that’s bullshit).
