BlacKkKlansman was good but not really at the level of ‘Do The Right Thing’ or ‘X’. I’ve watched ‘Sorry to Bother You’ a couple times but don’t feel like I’ll watch BlacKkKlansman again. I got it all the first time.
I’d still like to see a directors cut of ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ where the rest of the band and management didn’t have the final cut. There’s a really good biopic in there somewhere but that is a crappy nomination.
Didn’t see Green Book. I’d like to be surprised that it isn’t exactly how I imagine it from the trailer but I’m not willing to fork out the cash to find out. It will come to Netflix soon enough.

https://www.appropriations.senate.gov/news/shelby-releases-proposal-to-reopen-government-and-secure-border-urges-passage-of-comprehensive-package
Big highlights:
-Limits temporary DACA protections to 3 years, excludes all currently eligible applicants.
-Rescinds all existing legal provisions for assylum to be replaced with a new system outside the United States that does not yet exist, and which the new law neither requires nor provides for.
Yertle could get the votes for this. But the only way he can sell it is by emphasizing to the MAGA base what a screw job it is.

Just out — a state judge has refused GOP demands to certify their candidate the winner in NC-9’s fraud-tainted election.
Republicans initially made noises about possibly holding a new election when it first came out that a consultant working closely with the GOP candidate had tampered with ballots in two counties.
But lately they’ve doubled down on insisting an election they themselves admit was fraudulent be certified. Because integrity, fairness, and rule of law count for nothing now, and winning at all costs and by any means is who they are now.
It was a pointless lawsuit anyway, because there was no way the House Democrats were going to seat this guy under these circumstances. They’ve already said so.

Laugh at AOC’s soak-the-rich tax proposal all you want … then read this:
“A new poll from The Hill and Harris X found that 59 percent of registered voters supported imposing a 70 percent tax rate on every dollar over the 10 millionth a person earns in a year. (Tax rates that apply only to income over a certain threshold are called marginal tax rates.) The idea even received bipartisan support: 71 percent of Democrats, 60 percent of independents and 45 percent of Republicans said they were in favor. In contrast, the Republican overhaul of the tax law that President Trump signed in 2017 — which decreased the marginal tax rate from 39.6 percent to 37 percent on married couples earning over $600,000 — has far less public support. A September Gallup poll found that only 39 percent of Americans approved of it.”
https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-wants-to-raise-taxes-on-the-rich-and-americans-agree/
I mean, even almost half of Republicans are in favor! But Doctor Dumbfuck needn’t worry, he’ll never be within a thousand leagues of being “rich” as that term is defined today, and AOC isn’t interested in two-bit hustlers like him. Not enough revenue potential there to be worth the bother.
I’llHaveAPilsner spews:
And now to D leaning poll
Biden 53%, Trump 41%
Sanders 51%, Trump 41%
Harris 48%, Trump 41%
O’Rourke 47%, Trump 41%
Warren 48%, Trump 42%
Booker 47%, Trump 42%
Gillibrand 47%, Trump 42%
Not where you want to be as an incumbent. We’re all junkies here so none of the names are unfamiliar but you have to figure there’s a lot of ‘Not Familiar with’ for Harris, Gillibrand, O’Rourke and not much less for Booker among voters who don’t follow races outside their state.
So a poll this bad for Donald shows a lot of, “Anybody But.” Among the less informed voters.

All this complaining about tax rates when the answer is always the same: a single, flat-rate tax for everyone. One single deduction for every individual covered on the Form 1040, based on the annual federal minimum wage. I suggest everyone gets twice the annual minimum wage ($7.25 federal minimum wage X 2,080 work hours per year = $15,080 of income tax-free per individual listed on the Form 1040). Then, 15% tax on everything about this level.

Roger Rabbit Commentary: I’m no socialist, and certainly not a communist (I fought against communism in Vietnam), but it amuses me to watch Randians squirm.
It’s a historical fact that whenever the one percent have gotten too grabby, the 99 percent have responded with what you might politely call systemic reconfiguration. High marginal tax rates are actually a form of life and property insurance for the people subject to them. As Marie Antoinette learned, it’s better to keep 30% of your property and your head than to lose it all by trying to hang onto it all.

300HR and + .300 batting average are pretty much the bare minimum for HOF unless you also have defensive talents. Edgar @ 309HR (134th all time) .312. If you miss those numbers but have several gold gloves or played on World Series winners you can slip in. Edgar didn’t have either.
He would have missed the HR cutoff if he had only played 17 years (see wear and tear) and there’s a reasonable assumption that he would have missed both if he had the nagging turned ankle/Jamed finger/wrist pain that will make a typical position player take 5-10 games off each season and play hurt and not be able to turn on a fastball quite as well. Most players go on the DL in the outfield not running bases.
Edgar’s not the least deserving guy in the Hall but he is one of those where a lot of us think, “It’s the Hall if Fame not the Hall of above average.”
There’s a handful of players that are in for defense. Ozzie Smith at 29 career HR and .268 with 13 Gold Gloves in 19 seasons. Deserving

Enough to be discharged as a private after about 3 1/2 years.

Note: This article has been adjusted from it’s original version to show that Nathan Phillips was a Vietnam-era veteran and that he was spit on while in uniform as opposed to when he was returning from combat.

I’llHaveAPilsner spews:

Read your source again.
NYT states they printed Vietnam Veteran when that’s not what he said. (It’s on several post incident tapes coming from Phillips mouth, “Vietnam Times Veteran…”)
But good you’re picking up on what D’Nesh is peddling. Why do you hate Veterans? Find a distraction from lying about Russia dealing or dead toddlers in ICE sententious yet?
I’llHaveAPilsner spews:
For those playing catch-up, here’s the quote from the really old ‘corrected’ (wrong, though it will become a Pizzagate article of faith for Dumbfuck, not a correction.) article D’Nesh is seizing on.
1st find within the quoted part where Phillips implies he was in VietNam. In this new version of combing through the record the way it was printed originally, “Vietnam Era” is clear but now that the minions of a pardoned felon’s cult are harassing a small newspaper they feel the need to clarify. No real need. It was clear. “Vietnam Era”
In this version, the cult of campaign fraud argues that people who would spit on Veterans or active duty in uniform were going up to Servicmen and asking if they were actually in Vietnam Nam and if they said no going all, “Cool Bro. Peace. See ya later. Woodstock!”
Dumbfuck is swallowing it because of course. Marching Orders. White Teens are young and white and honest and well behaved and never never never wrong. They’re white. Pure and white.

@31 That’s still 3 1/2 years of military service that Cadet Bonespurs didn’t serve.
I also notice that in some articles he’s being criticized for being **only** an electrician, and for not serving in combat.
Let me explain something to do about veterans, dumbfuck, as I’ve been active in veterans organizations and can speak with some authority on how my fellow veterans feel about these things.
We don’t make these differentiations about our fellow veterans’ service. If you wore the uniform, you’re a veteran, period.
But for the record, every Marine is trained to be a rifleman, and is subject to being pressed into combat. In the Marine Corps, you’re always a rifleman first, and cook, mechanic, driver, electrician, or whatever, second. Every Marine is trained to be, expected to be, and may be called on to be, a combat grunt. Anywhere, any time.
Either show me a dishonorable discharge or go fuck yourself. And I’m sure every one of my local veterans organization fellow members would tell you exactly the same thing.
Roger Rabbit spews:

The White House has absolutely no desire to reopen the government orbuild WALL. They really don’t care at all. This is pure theater for them. They will just keep right on inventing reasons, raising the pot, or inserting these poison pills. Currently that leaves it to Senate Republicans to break ranks and kill WALL to restart the engines before CRASH.
But if Yertle can pull seven Dems over on BRIDGE TO WALL II he gets to climb back under his desk to read soft core porn novels. Yertle would surely like to restart the engines sooner rather than later and avoid CRASH. But his first and highest priority is protecting his thin majority from his rabid hooting mob of beer drunk base voters.

I’llHaveAPilsner spews:
@46
There’s still the photo that used to be on the school’s home page.
The theee point sign is one hand raised, three fingers pointed up. If you watch basketball, some refs will indicate with an ‘OK’ type sign and others will touch thumb and pinkie. No one thinks Clay Thompson is a magabro after draining a three. In the NCAA and most HS the signal is one hand raised on the attempt to indicate behind the 3 line, second arm raised as in ‘touchdown’ to indicate to the scorer to count it.
But having your arms around your buddies not at a game with the fingers pointed downward (home page photo) ain’t a three pointer.
Y’all are trying so very hard. Keep trying.
