    Sea Shepherds Cut Japanese Whale Harvest By 50%

    Commercial whaling is illegal throughout the world. But that doesn’t stop Japanese whalers from killing nearly 1,000 whales a year — in the Antarctic Whale Sanctuary of all places — in the name of “scientific research.” That pretense is bullshit; the whale meat ends up in grocery stores and restaurants in Japan, not in labs.

    The Australian government has responsibility for enforcing the laws in the seas where most of this whaling takes place, but they’ve been reluctant to send warships to intercept the Japanese whaling fleet, because they don’t want to jeopardize their trade with Japan. Australia is a major seller of wheat, coal, bauxite, and other resource products in the Far East.

    So, it has fallen to Washington state-based Sea Shepherd Conservation Society to protect the whales from the blatantly commercial Japanese whaling. This year, SSCS saved 528 whales and cut the Japanese whaling fleet’s kill in half, to a little over 500 dead whales. Bravo for the Sea Shepherds! I send them a donation earlier this year, and will continue supporting this group.

    Our planet-hating, environment-raping, money-grubbing wingnut friends don’t like the Sea Shepherds, of course. They, like the Japs, call them “terrorists.” That’s bass-ackwards — the Sea Shepherds are cops, and the whalers are the bad buys.

    The Sea Shepherd group is, in my opinion, worthy of your financial and moral support. They’re helping save the planet from human predators, one whale at a time. And as a rabbit, the whales are my friends.

    Milking That Cow For All She’s Worth Dep’t

    Some students retrieved a California college’s speaking contract with Sarah Palin from a trash bin and here’s what they learned:

    “When Sarah Palin delivers a speech this summer in California, audience questions will be pre-screened, her water bottles will have bendable straws and she’ll get three rooms at a luxury hotel …. [Palin] will get first-class plane tickets [but if] she doesn’t fly commercial, ‘the private aircraft MUST BE a Lear 60 or larger,’ according to the contract ….”

    A state senator requested a copy of the contract but university officials refused to disclose it, citing a nondisclosure agreement. Now that its contents have been disclosed, the senator is requesting an investigation of whether the university officials violated California’s public records law.

    This was a long watch of 37 minute Press Conference, but it sure explains WHY the two Senators (that were denied info, even after having to resort to FOI Act) are going after this. Great show! Might have gone unnoticed, EXCEPT the shredding was going during “Furlough Friday”.

    Some political science students discovered that on “Furlough Friday” when University staff was taking mandatory furloughs, paperwork shredding was going on. Same day about 5 students dug through the dumpsters and hauled out all the papers.

    Discovered parts of the Sarah Palin speaking contract, travel arrangements, (unshredded) etc, which were mingled with other documents from the University. Info that had been previously denied to these two Senators via Freedom of Information Act as to how much Mrs. Palin was being paid by the University – then part of the shredding two days later. Appears that they are turning over to the California Attorney General for investigation.

    Funny, when a Republican leaning state elects a Republican leaning Governor its a win for the Republican’s, but when a Democratic leaning district elects a Democrat it’s “nothing new.”

    Regarding PBC, when Puddy was there 1.5 weeks ago, my bro-in-law (also black, retired lawyer) and Puddy went bike riding around PBC. We noticed the stares of peeps in their “progressive lily-white gated communities”… Since most of these “progressive lily-white gated communities” are occupied by north-east Moonbat!s we knew what it meant. Many of these DUMMOCRAPTS are the same types who couldn’t figger out a voters selection sheet back in 2000.

    BTW my bro-in-law lives in a non-progressive gated community, where many hues and colors live. He purposely selected that one because of the diversity.

This last crash you could have bought Sanmina-Sci for 18 cents, pre-reverse split. Unisys was available at 37 cents, pre-reverse split. Look what companies like Hertz and Avis did, for Heaven’s sake. Heck, Humane Genome Sciences was at 35 cents. That one’s a $30 stock now. Let’s see, that’s 2800 shares of HGSI you could have picked up for your $700. How does an $83,300 profit on a $700 investment sound to you?

    Whatever you do, don’t listen to the KLOWN. For some strange reason he buys high and sells low – not a very good investment strategy, IMHO.
