It’s been a wild couple of years feeling like our democracy has been held together with spit and bailing wire. Today, we’ve wheeled ‘er into the pits to clean off the grunge, replace some nuts and a few bolts, do some serious alignment and, perhaps, a rebuilt the top end. Please join us Tuesday evening for an Election Day rally at the Seattle Chapter of Drinking Liberally.
But, before you stop by, if you haven’t done so please be sure to return your ballot in a drop-box. Here’s how you can find a ballot drop box near you.
We meet every Tuesday at the Roanoke Park Place Tavern, 2409 10th Ave E, Seattle. You’ll find us in the room at the rear of the tavern for our usual 8pm starting time. For election night, some of us will show up much earlier.
The Roanoke will have TVs tuned to election coverage. They have free WiFi. And you can buy drinks! If you insist on hearing every word of coverage, bring headphones and a device to stream audio. What can I say? Bars can be noisy.
We’ll be live-blogging the election right here.
Can’t make it to Seattle? Check out one of the 259 chapters of Living Liberally, including 22 in Washington state, seven in Oregon and three in Idaho. Find a chapter near you. Or consider starting your own chapter.

Doctor Dumbfuck is spending the night restocking his bunker with survival rations, canned water, and candles. It could get rather gloomy down there before this day is over. Without Puddy (R.I.P.) to keep him company, a horse will have to do.
RedReformed spews:
At 630 am there are over 70 people in line at my polling place. I have never seen more than 10. The line is out the door.
Redreformed spews:
The line is slow because they are all waiting for the touch screen machines
@godwinha spews:
Hey, Cz-252, maybe the line is long because someone is having difficulty finding the key to the “absolute lock” on the door, whaddya think?
@godwinha spews:
Funny about the HuckaPM.
Although this reminds me. YLB, maybe just to be on the safe side you should take your Midol a little earlier this evening.
“CERTAIN READERS MAY HAVE A NERVOUS REACTION”: THE NEW YORK TIMES ELECTION NEEDLE IS BACK, WITH A FEW NEW SAFETY FEATURES
The needle, which debuted with Trump vs. Clinton, is a symbol of the speed with which political hopes can be upended, as well as the maddening uncertainty of polling—and liberals are still deeply haunted by it.

Quite honestly, wasn’t it triggering that Darryl kept the final Monte Carlo analysis up for months on the HA sidebar after the election, YLB?
@godwinha spews:
Before the first HA moron – I know, when I put it that way I could be talking about so many of y’all – posts about the House National Popular Vote idiocy, review this:
https://www.brookings.edu/blog/fixgov/2016/11/22/gop-seats-bonus-in-congress/
and note all of those elections past in which Democrats received a larger percentage of House seats than their national vote percentage.
Then go fuck yourselves, pansies.
@godwinha spews:
Seriously, with the exception of Roger Dumbfuck Rabbit I’ve learned things from nearly everyone who posts here, and I’m appreciative that HA exists.
Here’s wishing that all candidates, everywhere, win a majority of votes today.
’cause participation trophies suck.

QoS, I’m jus’ sayin’ that for all those libbie womenz to truly make a difference, the next march should feature pink pussy. Ditch the hats and the trousers and the helium-filled Trump baby balloon and just go with the vajayjays.

Newt Hoennicker spews:
I see Dr. Dumbfuck is up early and spewing his full on hate and bs this morning. He must be very excited, I pity his horse and other barnyard animals tonight because win or lose, it is gonna be rough on them tonight.
However racist, homophobic, mysognistic, and hateful he is, I will defend his right to vote. Being willing to defend the right to vote of someone you disagree with is a huge difference between he and I and the candidates and parties we support.
So Dr. Dumbfuck, I hope you voted, if you didn’t, then shame on you.
WTF!? spews:
@7 that’s good, but I doubt anyone here has learned anything from you, other than you are always more wrong than ever right and that horses can be man’s best friend even if the horse rather kick you in the balls than wag its tail.
RedReformed spews:
if godwin was my only republican data point, I would conclude that all conservatives hated and were terrified by powerful women, hated and were terrified by minorities, hated and were terrified by gays, hated and were terrified by progressive ideas and lived for gotchas, finding some tiny example to try to invalidate the whole. Privilege and money were their only goals and they would abandon any values they claimed to follow if it would help them keep control of their money and privilege. They don’t argue the strength and validity of their ideas and admit when they are beaten by their betters, instead they muddy the waters with nasty personal character attacks.
RedReformed spews:
of course people at a Trump rally would say immigration was their number one concern.

@7 “Here’s wishing that all candidates, everywhere, win a majority of votes today. ’cause participation trophies suck.”
Deep down, this comment reeks of desperation, a cry from a bunker buried beneath rubble.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@9 Sounds like you’re planning to drop in on DL tonight to see if you can pick up Democrat girls, there being none left in the GOP.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@10 It takes dumbfucks to believe Tennessee has a border problem, but I’m sure Trump can dredge some up, even in Tennessee. After all, somebody has to be in the bottom 40% of the bell curve.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@12 I can’t think of a better place for him to vote than Oregon, which ensures he’ll never be able to put anyone in office above the level of county commissioner.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@14 I’m curious whether you have some reason to believe there is any other conservative data point?
Roger Rabbit spews:
The Dow was +145 a minute ago. Either Wall Street doesn’t believe the polls or thinks a GOP ass-kicking is a good thing. I guess we’ll know tomorrow.
WTF!? spews:
@23 I personally think that it is or was up +145 today, after positive gains for the last 4-5 days, because they are afraid of an ass kicking coming up and trying to avert it by giving the impression of this “great booming” economy. They along with The Hump live on fiction.
If it were down over the last few days then they (Wall Street) would be afraid that those that might be sitting on the fence politically wouldn’t vote for a Repuke. These guys are not to be trusted.
RedReformed spews:
Trumper staffers were having a hard time dating. Nobody wants to go out with them. I assume the same applies to trump supporters.

WTF!? spews:
@14
I think it is a sign that he is very unhappy in his personal life, and envious of those that have more than him, so he takes it out on those that have less than him because you know, they are the problem in his life.
Think about it – Why would anyone happy in life be like that? It’s how Repukes get you to vote for them.
Roger Rabbit spews:
Of course you shouldn’t trust Wall Street, but you can try to understand which direction their greed is coming from. Wall Street doesn’t mind a Democratic House takeover, and maybe even likes the idea a little bit, because a gridlocked government can’t do anything bad to them. These people are anarchists at heart, which is consistent with their looter mentality; a non-functioning government makes stealing easier.
Newt Hoenikker spews:
Dr. Dumbfuck went silent rather early this morning. He must have had to have his cup of coffee and then off to dissuade women and people of color that today is really not the day to vote, or more like their voted doesn’t count, why waste time being in line. That or he is busy out removing mailboxes on the island or in Oregon.
Steve spews:
My predictions? Come tomorrow, the loon (RIP) will still be lynched, we still won’t have a real Russian troll, but at least we’ll still have a dumbfuck. In fact, win or lose, I foresee an awful lot of dumbfuckery in our future.

If the Democrats get control of the House and the Republicans maintain control of the Senate, it will be good for investors. A divided legislative branch means less interference from idiots on both ends of the political spectrum.

@godwinha spews:
People placing bets don’t back the Dem House prospects nearly to the extent that 538 and other prognosticators might suggest.
Probably worth calibrating expectations. At PredictIt, a financial market of sorts on political outcomes, contracts imply:
There’s a 71% chance Democrats will take control the House;
There’s an 88% chance the Republicans will retain control of the Senate;
There’s a 62% chance of a Democratic House and a Republican Senate.
That’s a useful way of thinking about what happens and how financial markets will react tonight and/or Wednesday.

Government unions in the northwest have seen a massive decline in membership rates since state workers earned the right to relinquish their membership, according to research unveiled earlier this week.
The Freedom Foundation, a nonprofit think tank, found that unions in the northwest alone have since lost 25,000 members.
The group’s research also found that decline in membership accounts for a $27 million annual loss in union revenue.
