    Yesterday in a hearing in the USDC-SDNY while arguing to retain control over records seized in the FBI raid of Cohen’s offices Monday, one of Michael Cohen’s lawyers stated that the client (Sean Hannity) had specifically requested that his name not be disclosed:
    “The client was contacted over the weekend, and asked that we not disclose their name. And further, that we take an appeal if the Court was going to make that name public.”
    A few hours later that very same client, Hannity, appearing on his own television program stated:
    “I never asked Michael Cohen to bring this proceeding on my behalf”

    Only one of those two statements can be true.

    If you are Cohen’s lawyer you’d better fucking pray that Hannity is lying again.

    In the previous thread I mentioned Kendrick has a Pulitzer. I brought it up because, predictably, the Right is all verklempt that as Breitbart put it, “Album Demonizing Trump, Fox News” could win such an award.

    Just a little fuel for the “rampant speculation”:

    Hannity is pretty damn wealthy. His annual income is around $36 million, he owns lots of very high value real estate and his own jet. Since the collapse of many other FOX News stars in recent years his star power and his influence at the network, and in “conservative” news media in general, has shot up. His contract negotiations with FOX News alone are likely to involve teams of dozens of specialist lawyers and accountants. There should be little doubt that Hannity has some very good and very well paid legal representation covering his business and personal dealings. Representing a guy like Hannity is solid trophy for any firm. For Hannity to insist that he has never been a client of Michael Cohen makes a great deal of sense so long as we assume Hannity’s innocence. It’s hard to imagine any innocent reason for Hannity to retain the services of a guy like Cohen. But they obviously run in some overlapping circles and they are by their own admissions “friends”. So again, a perfectly innocent explanation might be that Hannity casually sought Cohen’s advice about an unrelated private matter just as Hannity insists.

    But that leaves the puzzle of why Hannity would not only refuse to waive privilege, but would according to Cohen’s lawyers direct them to assert it and appeal any adverse decision*? Remember he has good lawyers. Probably a bunch of them. Friday night and over the weekend as this developed Cohen’s lawyers were in touch with him. And he was certainly in touch with his own lawyers. A guy like Hannity gets his calls returned. By a senior partner. They would have been huddling with him over the weekend and into Monday to help him respond. So if Hannity as he explains just casually pumped Cohen for free legal advice about condos, why the pitched battle? What’s could possibly be so confidential about a pissing match with your condo board?

    *Here I believe Cohen’s lawyers. It’s hard to conceive of a strategy that would lead to telling easily disprovable lies in court in front of a federal judge. They are strangely sensitive to lawyers telling lies in front of them.

    A Southwest Airlines flight from New York to Dallas has made a successful emergency landing at Philadelphia after an engine exploded in mid-flight at 30,000 feet, blowing out a cabin window and resulting in loss of cabin pressure. A passenger told the media there was “blood all over the place” in the forward cabin. At least one person was taken to a hospital with shrapnel injuries.
