DLBottleLet’s bid farewell to 2015 over drinks and conversation at this week’s Seattle Chapter of Drinking Liberally.

We meet tonight and every Tuesday at the Roanoke Park Place Tavern, 2409 10th Ave E, Seattle. You’ll find us in the small room at the back of the tavern. We start at 8:00pm.




Can’t make it to Seattle tonight? Check out one of the other DL meetings happening this week. Tonight the Tri-Cities chapter also meets. And next Monday, the Yakima and South Bellevue chapters meet.

    Merry (belated) Christmas / Saturnalia, HorsesAss cesspool!

    I’ve created a Greasemonkey script for HorsesAss that allows you to hide comments from certain users if you’d prefer not to engage with them. When this script is installed, comments threads will load and immediately hide the content of posts from users whose names start with text you specify. You can still view their comments by clicking on their names if you so choose. The script includes a little control panel to allow you to update the names on your blacklist.

    I threw it together rather quickly, but if I make updates I’ll let you know. I tested it in Firefox and Chrome (using TamperMonkey) on Mac.

    R@14 no I didn’t know about that. I missed that one. The story must have been buried behind all the other ones about mommy and daddy (one woman and one man) killing thier babies (after leaving the vagina) and stories of straight frat boys raping the womenz and the NFL stars who seem to beat up their womenz.

    This guy must be white. It is unfortunate because if he was black he would probably get the honor of being dragged to jail, and now that he has the special privelage of being white he’ll never know what it is like to go to jail and miss out on the opportunity to find God and become a sky pointer, and possibly play for the NFL thereafter.

    @9 It uses a plug-in for Firefox called Greasemonkey, which allows you to install custom JavaScript files that can be associated with certain websites. Greasemonkey is much bigger than what I’ve used it for — it allows people to write, share, and use scripts that work across tons of websites. It just happens to work for my purposes and be relatively easy to setup (plus lots of people have it installed anyway).

    1. Go to the Greasemonkey add-on page and click “Add to Firefox”. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/greasemonkey/

    2. You’ll be asked to install the add-on. Firefox gives a nice warning about only installing add-ons you trust. Greasemonkey is pretty widespread and standard, but please don’t take my word for it if you’re paranoid! If you want to proceed, click “Install Now.”

    3. Once installed, you’ll have to restart Firefox (it will prompt you to do so).

    4. Now that GreaseMonkey is installed (you’ll see its monkey face icon in the top right of your browser controls), you can install my script by clicking on the link I gave above. This will add my script to the list of scripts that GreaseMonkey runs. Click “Install” to start using it. You can also check out the source to make sure I’m not doing anything nefarious.

    5. Re-load a HA comment thread. Once the page loads, a text field will appear directly under the “Comments” header where you can enter usernames to block, separated by commas. Clicking “Set” will preserve your blacklist and immediately hide posts from users whose names start with any of the items you’ve entered. Once you’ve entered some names to block, posts from those users will be hidden as soon as you load the page.

    @13 it’s clearly an un constitutional mandate. When Homeland tries to enforce it and steps on citizen toes two things will happen There will be howls at airports and other places by Americans who look at the official and l him I’m an American let me in. And there will be lots of court cases about rights of Americans being abridged. Would be better for Washington state to tell the feds to stick it. After all we are the rebels that legalized marijuana in this state.

It may be hard to believe from the vile nature of the threads, but yes, we have a commenting policy. Comments containing libel, copyright violations, spam, blatant sock puppetry, and deliberate off-topic trolling are all strictly prohibited, and may be deleted on an entirely arbitrary, sporadic, and selective basis.
