Wow… “Where is the leadership?” asked Cory Fritz, a spokesman for Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio). “The federal government has just been hit by one of the largest thefts of sensitive data in history, and this White House is trying blame anyone but itself. It’s absolutely disgusting.”
Wow… “We can expect to continue to see these kinds of cyber attacks and intrusions until we get much better at defending our cyber networks,” Rep. Jim Langevin (D-R.I.) told The Hill.
Meanwhile we just experienced two big hacks and Obummer wants to do this? http://thehill.com/policy/cybe.....encryption
Wow… “We are opposed to any policy actions or measures that would undermine encryption as an available and effective tool,” said the letter, from the Information Technology Industry Council (ITIC) and the Software and Information Industry Association (SIIA).
Wow… Many of the big names in ITIC and SIIA also signed on to a similar letter sent to the White House in May that also included over 100 civil liberties organizations, digital rights advocates and security researchers.
Anything to spy on Americans is the Obummer way! So if Obummer has his way, all those web purchases would be under scrutiny now!
And you HA DUMMOCRETIN morons didn’t understand that Obummer’s push for strange net neutrality rules was the first step because most of you are as internet ignorant as you are in most topics y’all comment upon here! https://www.techdirt.com/blog/netneutrality/articles/
20141012/06344928801/revealed-isps-already-violating-net-neutrality-to-block-encryption-make-everyone-less-safe-online.shtml – remove the space after the “…articles/” because it overran the boundaries!
Then read www .enta. net / opinion/ 2015/ 05/27/ update-internet-org-coexist-net-neutrality-and-encryption / #.VXbqtFVVhBc – Puddy removed the http part and inserted spaces so it would pass the filter test!
Wow… However, it’s not just the net neutrality aspect that is now causing concern. Amongst the strict criteria for companies wanting to join Internet.org is the fact that encryption is not allowed. The reasoning behind this is reportedly because all the on-the-house web traffic has to go through Internet.org’s proxy servers which cannot (currently, at least) support HTTPS. Therefore, participating sites using HTTPS will either have all encryption stripped out or will be rejected from the project.
Wow… In response, Facebook has confirmed that it will have access to track users’ online activity but argued that use of that information will be governed by their standard data policies, which seems of little comfort to many privacy advocates. Let’s face it, Facebook doesn’t have the best reputation for protecting users’ privacy and has been accused of tracking online activity in the past.
And whose ASS does Mark Zuckerberg vividly kiss in politics? Obummer and DUMMOCRETINS!
You see HA DUMMOCRETINS, people in the technology industry understood what net neutrality as offered by Obummer’s FCC would do and allow companies to do! Yet there were IDIOT Wabbits and clueless databaze cretins and frog lovers and neverrights and fake scientists all for net neutrality! Puddy was against it from the beginning knowing what Obummer’s suggested rules would do to the average user! Butt, y’all are ignorant because you read left wrong libtard sites all day. Yes…

@1 That’s nothing. A few years ago, our country had an unelected commander-in-chief who spent more time vacationing in Texas than working in Washington, and then when some buildings got knocked down by foreign terrorists, he went and attacked the wrong country and embroiled us in a war that cost thousands of American lives and over a trillion dollars. Kinda a one-man wrecking ball who ruined a lot of peoples’ lives. You voted for that guy, you defended him, and you’re whining about a data breach that could have been avoided if Republicans weren’t too goddam cheap to spend a little money on upgrading the government’s 1970s computer systems? Stamp this comment with a big fat red “H” for hypocrisy.
Roger Rabbit spews:
GOP rising star Marco Rubio, it seems, has a bad habit of mismanaging his personal finances that’s been well known among GOP insiders for a long time and is now surfacing in the media.
http://www.cnbc.com/id/102743754
This guy would be bankrupt if he hadn’t been bailed out multiple times by his Republican backers. He puts his family members on campaign payrolls so he can pay his bills. And now that he’s a presidential candidate, he’s going to tell us how to balance the federal budget? When he can’t manage his own checkbook? Really? C’mon.

Since you all hate Mike Huckabee so much Puddy knows you disagree with his prescription for the hack attack… http://thehill.com/policy/cybe.....okers-data
Interesting… and true about Obummer’s foreign policy weakness… The U.S. should launch a cyberattack campaign against China, 2016 GOP hopeful Mike Huckabee said Monday, days after it was revealed suspected Chinese hackers had pilfered 4 million federal workers’ records.
“What will it take for President Obama to open his eyes?” Huckabee said, calling it “mind-boggling” that the administration wouldn’t hack China in response to the breach revealed last Thursday at the Office of Personnel Management.
None of our enemies respect Obummer at all. Weakness leads to tragic consequences. And now 4 million people are open to espionage upon themselves and their families! Remember last year the Sony attack was the tip of the iceberg when North Korea could hire some peeps to perform their dirty work! What is IS doing to us that we don’t know about? http://www.foxnews.com/politic.....y-website/ Well these guys took “credit”!

He was too busy hanging with the in crowd to take the call or make the decision to eradicate the individual!

Roger Rabbit spews:
@6 “which we now learn was mostly his wife’s lead foot”
Uh, no. Four of them are his, and that was made clear in the news reports, and also in my first HA comment about the subject. Rubio is a guy with a lead foot and also happens to have a wife who has no respect whatsoever for traffic laws intended to keep other people safe from people like the Rubios.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@6 As for the Rubios’ financial issues, these go far beyond the travails experienced by many Americans, into the realm of personal irresponsibility. Another concerns is the Rubios’ dependence on a wealthy patron who subsidized Rubio’s teaching career, employed him as a lawyer, and still employs Rubio’s wife. It’s not stretching things to say this billionaire pays the Rubio family’s bills while Marco plays at politics; and if Marco becomes president, you can be sure he’ll use that office to make decisions that benefit his patron’s business and investment interests.
Some people resent Hillary’s wealth (strangely, most of them are Republicans who in all other instances worship money and those who have it in abundance), but nobody owns her. You can’t say that of the GOP’s boy wonder.
Oh, and then there’s the utter rank hypocrisy of a politician who can’t manage his own checkbook peddling “austerity” in the name of balancing the federal budget as cover for beating up on the working poor. (It’s not the military budget or corporate welfare that Rubio would cut to achieve his “austere” budget.)
What a two-faced little slimebucket this guy is. He’s disgusting.
Roger Rabbit spews:
Although the minimum wage has gotten most of the attention, another force depressing incomes at the bottom of the wage ladder is shrinking work hours. Opportunistic Republicans try to blame this on Obamacare, but it’s mostly due to demographic and economic forces, such as the U.S. economy’s switch from manufacturing jobs to service jobs. See, e.g.,
http://www.cbsnews.com/news/wh.....rt-timers/
And now many employers are using on-demand scheduling software that saves them money and boosts their profits but makes things even worse for their low-income employees. The net result is a growing need for government subsistence aid for low-income workers, such as the explosion in food stamps we’ve seen in recent years, much of which is going to the working poor. If you believe in free markets, and don’t want government dictating minimum wages or hours to employers, then a logical solution that allows markets to function freely is to give businesses freedom in scheduling and paying their employees, but tax businesses as much as necessary to pay for public assistance provided to their employees, which amounts to government subsidies of their labor costs.

@17 Thank you for mentioning Sidney Blumenthal. He starkly spelled out just how criminally negligent the Republican George W. Bush regime was in failing to protect us from terrorist attack:
“Bush’s approach in most situations seemed a reactive combination of calculations to avoid his father’s mistakes and to reject Clinton’s policies. This was especially clear in international affairs: in his first nine months he reversed Clinton’s policy toward China, proclaiming it no longer a ‘strategic partner’ but a ‘strategic competitor’; in the Middle East, by withdrawing U.S. involvement in the negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians; toward Korea, by abandoning the negotiated accord that had frozen the North’s nuclear program and by humiliating President Kim of South Korea, who was promoting North-South reconciliation, during his March 2001 visit to the White House, contributing to a wave of anti-Americanism in a country that was among the staunchest American allies; by withdrawing U.S. support from the Kyoto treaty on global warming; and by forsaking Clinton’s efforts to address the dangers of international terrorism.
“During the transition between administrations, National Security Adviser Sandy Berger arranged several extensive briefings on this last subject for Bush’s incoming national security adviser, Condoleeza Rice, and others on the Bush team, including Vice President Cheney. One briefing lasted half a day. Berger told them that Osama bin Laden was an ‘existential threat’ and told them that he wanted ‘to underscore how important this issue is.’ In another briefing, Richard Clarke, head of counterterrorism in the NSC, the single most knowledgeable expert in the government, gave them a complete tutorial on the subject. In yet another briefing, CIA officials were brought in to go over all the intelligence available on terrorism.
“Don Kerrick, a three-star general and outgoing deputy national security adviser, overlapped for four months with the new Bush people. He submitted a memo for the new National Security Council warning of the danger of terrorism. ‘We are going to be struck again,’ he wrote. But as Kerrick explained to me, he received no answer to his memo. ‘They didn’t respond,’ he said. ‘They never responded. It was not high on their priority list. I was never invited to one meeting. They never asked me to do anything. They were not focusing. They didn’t see terrorism as the big megaissue that the Clinton administration saw it as. They were concentrated on what they thought were higher priorities than terrorism.’ The Principals meeting of national security officials took up terrorism only once, after constant pressure from Clarke, on September 4, 2001, and at that meeting they discussed using unmanned Predator drone spy aircraft, but no decision was made. ‘Unfortunately,’ said Kerrick, ‘September 11 gave them something to focus on.’”

@1 You know last night Coast to Coast was about EMP and the possibility that the sun could do an XFlare. Sure they were selling the guests book and selling their version of MREs so folks would have emergency supplies. Sure there was more than a bit of hyperbole, but either event can happen and either would be more serious than any cyber attack on the internet. Heck either might take the internet down. At least large parts of it. People would die probably not the 90% of Americans predicted by some yet not too much is mentioned about this threat to the internet and power grid ect.
There are ways to protect yourself from cyber warfare. In some instances perhaps the old way is the best way. Rather like the Russians do in some cases. Rather than hooking the nuclear power plant or any power plant and running it off the net maybe like hire people to work 24 hours who will operate the plant. You want secure communication with a loved one or friend drop em an old fashioned letter through the mail. Rather like Jimmy Carter does when he writes to leaders over seas.
Be a luddite and do your banking in person at the window with a person.
Puddy shows a fundamental misunderstanding that many people have. The internet is not secure and was never meant to be. It’s just a way to exchange information. It’s a great way to communicate during a nuclear war particularly when the government systems close their gateways to the rest of the internet. This makes the governments internet a little less useful. Someone may want to order some great underwear from Duluth.
These folks are confusing security with the internet. If the information is on a computer on the internet there is a risk someone can get it, change it, ect. There is no privacy on the internet. Perhaps government agencies should not be placing employee information on computers that end up on the internet, perhaps such information should remain in old fashion paper files, but those things are pricey to maintain and then to store. The bean counters hate paper files for any number of reasons unless the power goes out then they love em.
Does Mr. Hucklebee really believe that we are just pure and clean when it comes to cyber warfare. We are not pure and clean. Hitting North Korea with a cyber attack is a joke as they have no internet. Getting China is more possible but not easy as there is the Chinese Wall and exploiting it may expose the exploits that we may or may not have in the wall. So operationally it may be we could do such an attack, but it may be more useful to read the communications between the Chinese Politburo. Or between army leaders doing illicit deals between each other and the outside world. Or keep an eye on the communications between the leadership and the Princes and Princesses that study in this country. Maybe Mr. Huckebee is talking to his base and doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Rather like past Republican calls to close the Atomic Energy Commission ect. Odd how old Ronnie Reagan changed his tune so quickly and quietly on that. Now its the evil IRS. Yeah sure they will close the IRS down when pigs fly and they will eventually decide to give it the resources it requires to like collect taxes. If only to support limited government. Someone needs to pay the power bill at the lighthouses.

As North Korea and Iran and atomic weapons sorry I mean Weapons of Mass Destruction will be part of the upcoming election may I suggest reading: “To Kill Nations American Strategy in the Air-Atomic Age and the Rise of Mutually Assured Destruction: by Edward Kaplan.

Yes Mark Adams, you are a moronic luddite!
Regarding MAD, the Chinese would love for their client state North Korea to attack the US. China would love to see what would happen if they could make a long range SCUD to deploy EMP over America! How about those special islands China is making in the South China Sea? Obummer runs to China to try and thwart the North Koreans was the funniest thing Puddy read late last year… http://www.washingtonpost.com/.....story.html

The legal request, filed nearly four hours after Barack Obama vowed to sign a new law banning precisely the bulk collection he asks the secret court to approve, also suggests that the administration may not necessarily comply with any potential court order demanding that the collection stop.
US officials confirmed last week that they would ask the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance court – better known as the Fisa court, a panel that meets in secret as a step in the surveillance process and thus far has only ever had the government argue before it – to turn the domestic bulk collection spigot back on.

I’m sure cheap labor conservatives love that outsourcing Disney story. They seems to love it when American workers lose their jobs,
“H-1B immigrants work for less than American tech workers, Professor Hira said at a hearing in March of the Senate Judiciary Committee, because of weaknesses in wage regulations. The savings have been 25 percent to 49 percent in recent cases, he told lawmakers.”
“Former employees said many immigrants who arrived were younger technicians with limited data skills who did not speak English fluently and had to be instructed in the basics of the work.”
but they are cheaper….

@61 So what industry are you in Puddy? Doubt that you knowwhat a gateway is or a CISCO router or how about a line of sight microwave or how about some tropo. Or for more fun how about some HF communications.
So what is a T1 dude? What can you use a T! for?
Apple isn’t an encryption company. Neither is Microsoft. Sure encryption is used on the internet, or by individuals to encrypt their data and that can get the NSA whitey tighteys in a bind. It does seem a corporation has rights if so doesn’t a corporation have the right to keep it’s communications secure and the communications of its users and customers. Doesn’t seem to the business of the NSA or Uncle Sam what folks say to each other. There is that odd constitution thing out there. Now I do agree that the NSA can spy and get information, but that information can’t be used to throw someone in prison or charge them with a crime. That isn’t the NSA’s purpose. Child porn isn’t the NSA balliwack and if it finds the largest purveyor of it that information should just go down a great big black hole because that isn’t their job. The security of the United States is. The NSA’s problem is that it loves creating huge haystacks of information that might contain some useful information, but the NSA is supposed to answer to our civilian leaders, who are supposed to answer to we the people. And while there are things that are legitimately secret or secret for a time the NSA is still answerable to the American public and not everything secret should be and too much secrecy threatens us all and our American Republic.
Mark Adams spews:
@62 Actuallyy the Chinese are not particularly happy with the North Koreans and yes to get at the US they will continue support, but there is more enough Chinese grumbling out there that suggests they know the North is about run its course and they would like to figure out a way form the Korea’s to reform under the leadership of South Korea rather than the chaos that will follow a collapse.
The Chinese know if the North Koreans misbehave they can be dragged into something they don’t want. That scares them. If North Korea were to o an EMP over the US within 12 hours the North will be a radioactive wasteland. e Chinese also know there will be at least one sub off their coast with the ability to launch and will launch on China adding to the disaster in the North drifting across their mutual border.
Mark Adams spews:
