DLBottle

It’s Tuesday…and that’s Drinking Liberally night in Seattle. So please join us for an evening of politics under the influence at the Seattle Chapter of Drinking liberally.

We meet tonight and every Tuesday at the Roanoke Park Place Tavern, 2409 10th Ave E, Seattle. Our starting time is 8:00 pm, but some folks stop by earlier for dinner.

Can’t make it to Seattle tonight? Check out one of the other DL meetings this week. The Tri-Cities and Redmond chapters also meet tonight. The Lakewood chapter meets on Wednesday. On Thursday, the Tacoma chapter meets. And next Monday, the Aberdeen and Yakima chapters meet.

There are 191 chapters of Living Liberally, including eighteen in Washington state, four in Oregon and two in Idaho. Chances are excellent there’s a chapter meeting somewhere near you.

In setback, Obama concedes Congress role on Iran deal

Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Senator Bob Corker, who wrote the bill, said the White House had agreed to go along with the bill only after it was clear there was strong Democratic support. The legislation was passed unanimously by the committee and is expected to pass the full Senate and then the House of Representatives.

19-0 is a pretty clear signal, I guess.

Wow. Chris Christie is a pretty shameless tax dodger:

Other New Jersey governors paid taxes on their allowances. One example is former Gov. Jim Florio, who disclosed it on his tax returns, the Associated Press reported in 1992. The AP story noted the expense account “must be declared as personal income.”

In contrast, Christie did not report the allowances in the 740 pages of tax returns he voluntarily released to the public as governor…

In addition, the Christies dodged roughly $33,000 in New Jersey income tax by not reporting the allowances on their state returns.

    http://watchdog.org/211787/chr.....ome-taxes/

Oh. The people who know him best think he’d make a lousy President.

And most Republicans across the country aren’t impressed with him to boot.

    Still early but just sayin’..

Newly emerging empty suit Jeb Bush steered Florida pension funds to friends of Dumbya…

International Business Times’ review of government documents shows Jeb Bush oversaw Florida directing at least $1.7 billion of state workers’ retirement money to the financial firms of his elder brother’s major donors.

As Jeb Bush oversaw the State Board of Administration (SBA) that runs Florida’s massive public pension system, the state shifted billions of dollars into higher-risk, higher-fee alternative investments, benefiting the same sector of the investment industry he would work in upon leaving office. Many of those state deals delivered returns that fell short of projections.

Roughly 20 percent of that system’s 53 private investment deals during Bush’s governorship went to companies that employed his brother’s Pioneers. Those financial firms, in turn, delivered more than $5 million of campaign cash to George W. Bush, the Republican National Committee and Jeb Bush’s Republican Party of Florida.

Christie’s tax dodging pales in comparison to this bullshit. Oh well. Most Republicans at this stage don’t think much of this newly minted empty suit either.. Low-life Scotty Walker is leading the polls in a few states.

But then they turned around, dumped on a few dwarfs before settling for motor-mouth, used car salesman Willard R-Money.

Tsk, tsk.. Wall Street and Republicans..

President Obama is threatening to veto a pair of GOP bills set to pass the House, arguing they would undercut portions of the Dodd-Frank financial reform law.

The White House on Monday said that if presented with either of the two bills, Obama’s advisers would recommend that he veto them for weakening “key consumer protections.”

An old talking point of the batshit insane trolls was that the poor pay no taxes.. Bullshit on that:

this analysis has a big conceptual flaw: it only focuses on federal income taxes. That’s not the biggest part of most families’ tax bill — most pay more in payroll taxes for Social Security and Medicare, for example. And it also leaves out state and local governments, which tend to rely heavily on regressive sales and property taxes.

    http://www.vox.com/2015/4/14/8.....stribution

Especially here in WA State. The klownservatics like Rand Paul think the “solution” to the “unfairness” of the rich paying “too much” is a flat tax – i.e. the rich get a tax cut and the rest make up the difference.

Couldn’t the Kentucky turtle let the wait break 800 days?

In a 95-0 vote, the Senate easily confirmed Alfred Bennett to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. He fills a court seat that’s been vacant for 769 days, and one with such a heavy caseload that it’s considered a “judicial emergency.” That means the judges on that court are taking on more than 600 cases, or that they’ve carried a load of 430 to 600 cases for more than 18 months.

This is a howler from batshit insane war monger Tom Cotton:

Israel struck Iraq’s nuclear program in 1981, and they didn’t reconstitute it. Israel struck Syria’s nuclear reactor in 2007, and they haven’t yet reconstituted it. Rogue regimes have a way of getting the picture when there’s a credible threat of military force on the table that we will not allow the world’s worst regimes to get the world’s worst weapons.

    http://wonkette.com/579113/sen.....m-actually

The fool is contradicted by none other than his role model Darth Cheney. Anyone remember this howler?

And we believe he [Sadam Hussein] has, in fact, reconstituted nuclear weapons,” Cheney said.

Wow didn’t know that Cheney believed either 1) Israel was feckless or 2) bomb, bomb, bomb does nothing but pump up the bomb maker’s bidness.

@23 yeah, I guess you can attack Hillary for being a hypocrite or for being out of touch, like Romney, with the American people because of her wealth.

But at least she is speaking out and talking about what Teapublicans will not, who are just as well off and connected to Wall Street or the rich and famous our big time money contributors, and willing to fight for the little person

As opposed to someone like Romney, who didn’t care to do anything but insult them with the 47% comment.

Teapublicans aren’t going to act, what difference does the person’s wealth have to do with the position.

It would be like saying Lincoln was serious about equality for blacks because he was white.
