Please join us tonight for some politics and conversation over a drink at the Seattle Chapter of Drinking Liberally.
We meet every Tuesday evening, rain or shine, at the Roanoke Park Place Tavern, 2409 10th Ave E, Seattle. The starting time is 8:00 pm, but some folks show up before that for dinner.
Can’t make it to Seattle tonight? You have options! Check out one of the other DL meetings this week. Tonight the Tri-Cities chapter also meets. The Lakewood chapter meets on Wednesday. The Bremerton chapter meets on Thursday, as does Washington’s newest DL chapter in Kent.
There are 181 chapters of Living Liberally, including sixteen in Washington state, four in Oregon and two in Idaho. Chances are excellent there’s a chapter meeting somewhere near you.

The comments run the gamut from Great to Heartless Bastard Cheap Labor Conservative

Clearly, the notion of meritocracy is quaint and outdated, and rich people should be allowed to give their children a life of luxury and ease if they so choose, instead of government confiscating their wealth through taxation and using their money for public good.

Roger Rabbit Commentary: Oh, and P.S., laws barring slayers from inheriting from their victims is another government interference with personal liberty!!!
Roger Rabbit spews:
Re Scalise story: Funny how the GOP’s denials of having racists in their party keep coming back to bite its ass, which is what happens when you have racists in your party.
P.S., memo to Republicans, if you want to appeal to minorities, you have to change your substance and not just your message, i.e. you have to stop being a party of racists and not merely deny being racists. In other words, you need to really and truly scrap Nixon’s “Southern Strategy” for once and all.

The White House just announced that President Obama will veto Keystone XL.

Zombie (u)SP still walks with the dead. Although there is currently a thread with over 300 comments, over 300 of them are spam, not counting Rags.
Apparently the tip money the proprietor saves by getting waitresses fired will not be used to fund a new spam filter plugin.

“P.S., memo to Republicans”
One can’t even bring the subject up without hearing the tired accusation that we’re “playing the race-card”, even as the party is dealing with yet another self-inflicted racism-based wound.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@5 You’re not counting Rags as spam?
Roger Rabbit spews:
Low-wage workers not only get to work long hours and bad shifts doing hard and dirty work for pissant pay and no benefits, they also enjoy relentless toil with no days off.

Roger Rabbit Commentary: Cheap labor conservatives have grown more vocal lately about the declining Labor Participation Rate. They can’t understand what’s happened to America’s work ethic or why nobody wants to work anymore.

For you sports fans, Randy Johnson was elected to MLB’s Hall of Fame today. This comes as a surprise to me. For some reason, I assumed this had already happened years ago.
Steve spews:
I understand that Randy Johnson pitched until he was 46 years old. And I think he last played in 2009, so this would be his first year of eligibility.
Steve spews:
If I counted Rags as spam, that’d mean KDS was the lone right-wing commentor on Seattle’s, um, premier right-wing blog. But come to think of it, KDS is as much spam as Rags. Sucks to be (u)SP.

Factoid: A new Congress convened today, in which the 46 Democratic Senators received 20 million more votes than the 54 Republican Senators.
Explanation: All of the 100 U.S. Senators were elected in the 2010, 2012, or 2014 elections. The total number of votes received in those elections by Senators of each party were:
54 Republicans: 47.1 million votes
46 Democrats: 67.8 million votes

Roger Rabbit Commentary: Anyone still want to argue that Republicans are the “majority party”?
Steve spews:
My goodness! Zombie (u)SP might soon have a thousand comment thread! Too bad it’s all spam!
What a way for (u)SP to end. Even better than with a witless Jim Miller post.

@13 Well now they can boast about their traffic.
