The Seattle Chapter of Drinking Liberally continues its city-wide Drinking Liberally tour, in search of a new home.
This evening we will converge upon the South Lake Union neighborhood for an evening of politics under the influence with an Irish theme at Paddy Coyne’s Irish Pub (at South Lake Union), 1190 Thomas St. Seattle. We meet at 8:00 pm, but some folks show up even earlier for dinner.
Can’t make it tonight? Check out another Washington state meeting of DL over the next week.
The Tri-Cities and Vancouver, WA chapters, and Washington’s newest DL, the Redmond chapter, also meets on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the Bellingham chapter meets. On Thursday the Bremerton chapter meets. The Centralia chapter meets on Friday. And next Monday, the Aberdeen, Yakima and Olympia chapters meet.
With 215 chapters of Living Liberally, including nineteen in Washington state, four in Oregon, and three more in Idaho, chances are excellent there’s a chapter meeting somewhere near you.

Obamacare is becoming a favorite whipping boy for business managers seeking a scapegoat for their lousy performance.
This issue came to the forefront last week when AOL’s CEO transparently and unconvincingly tried to shift blame for his company’s business performance to Obamacare. Benefits experts quickly called “bullshit” on AOL.
For example, a law professor at Washington and Lee University said, “This strikes me as a totally bogus explanation. Everything that goes wrong with any business in the economy now is going to blamed on the Affordable Care Act.”
I see plenty of comments on the investing blogs I regularly read to the tune that Obamacare is keeping the economy from recovering and bankrupting small businesses. Don’t believe that nonsense. It’s nothing but scapegoating.
Obamacare is the best thing that’s happened to third-rate business managers in a long long time, because it allows them to shift attention away from their own poor performance.

3)One of the reasons that they are using old tank cars, and for the long backlog of new, tougher tank cars. The AAR supposedly has an age restriction on boxcars, don’t know if it applies to tank cars. After 40 years, the older car cannot be used in interchange service. http://www.uprr.com/customers/.....rage.shtml

Shirley Temple died yesterday. As we pause to remember her unique contributions to American culture, let us not forget that conservatives accused her of being a communist when she was
10 years old.

The minority party teamed up with a couple of “moderate” (in name only) Democrats to take over the state senate, but now some rightwing senators have decided they will play ball with the “Majority Caucus” only when it supports their radical rightwing agenda.
Hey, if they want to kick Sens. Tom and Shelton out of their caucus, that’s fine with me! It’s time those jerks realized their GOP “friends” will backstab them the moment they turn their backs.

5)Sometimes people go too far when spreading hysteria. Didn’t she challenge Rep. Pete McCloskey, who at the time was a Republican, for Congress?

@7 Retarded RETHUGS spreading hysteria?
Couldn’t happen…

Can you say slow?

@9 HA is so wildly popular you have to wait in line to post here. Stefan’s sucky little blog is reduced to asking whether Marshawn is a Republican. (Yes, because he works hard, and doesn’t talk to journalists — two well known Republican traits.*) Apparently they can’t think of anything else to talk about.
* I don’t work at all, and I hang out with journalists, so I guess that makes me a Democrat, huh!
