Please join us tonight for an evening of electoral politics and conversation over a pint at the Seattle Chapter of Drinking liberally. Tonight, of course, is recall night in Wisconsin, a race that could make Gov. Scott Walker (R) the third governor in U.S. history to be recalled.
The latest polls showing Walker leading Mayor Tom Barrett (D-Milwaukee) with a small to modest lead. There are five other recall races going on in Wisconsin, as well.
Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch (R) faces a challenge from Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin President Mahlon Mitchell (D). The latest poll show Kleefisch with a small lead.
Three Republican state Senators are facing recall elections, and Democrats need to win a single seat to take control of the Senate. State Sen. Terry Moulton (R-Chippewa Falls) is being challenged by Rep. Kristin Dexter (D). State Sen. Van Wanggaard (R-Racine) is being challenged by former state Sen. John Lehman. Senate Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Clyman) is being challenged by Lori Compas (D). The first two of these races are considered competitive.
Finally, an open Senate seat is up for grabs after state Sen. Pam Galloway (R-Wausau) resigned in the face of a recall election. The contest for the seat is between state Rep. Donna Seidel (D) and state Rep. Jerry Petrowski (R).
Wisconsin polls close at 6 pm (PT).
There are also elections tonight in New Jersey (5 pm PT), South Dakota (6 pm PT), New Mexico (6 pm PT), Montana (7 pm PT) and California (8 pm PT).
Drinking Liberally Seattle meet every Tuesday at the Montlake Ale House, 2307 24th Avenue E. Starting time is 8:00pm, but show up early to watch the returns….
I’ll be live-blogging the elections from DL.
Can’t make it to Seattle tonight? There are other DL meetings this week. The Tri-Cities chapter of Drinking liberally meets every Tuesday night. Drinking Liberally Tacoma meets this Thursday.
With 230 chapters of Living Liberally, including twelve in Washington state and three more in Oregon, chances are excellent there’s a chapter near you.

Hey Darryl,
How come the most moronic leftists like rujax post more than 2 paragraphs from an article all the time (view the last two open threads) and you turn a blind eye to it? Even Roger DUMB Wabbit follows the rules more than rujax, and rujax is a leftist bottom dweller.
Are you and Carl feeling sorry for him, so he gets a pass?
Puddybud spews:
Here’s one for ya…
This is exactly what Puddy was discussing and rujax called Puddy a liar. Well has rujax posted any rebuttal facts yet? Guess puny pathetic rujax is lying again!
Seems no Konarka official made campaign contributions to Romney. Wow imagine that? The Nobel laureate co-founder gave to Obummer. Blows apart rujax puny pathetic argument. Yet the HA leftists turn a blind eye to the George Kaiser-Obummer direct relationship on Solyndra. Can you say another leftist EPIC FAYLE?
No your honor… he is very dopey. And it seems Konarka paid back the 1.5 Million loan per the CEO. Should be easily verifiable. Did Kaiser’s buds repay the $530+ Million Solyndra loan?
Politico, leftist leaning and sometimes truthful!
Bob spews:
I read somewhere that turnout close to that in 2008 would be good for Barrett.
http://www.jsonline.com/news/s.....90805.html
Well, turnout is described as close to that in 2008.
Tonite should be interesting.
Puddybud spews:
Did you know when Obummer gave out his Porkulus bill Konarka got some of the pork? No? Wow you leftists live on some stupid web sites…
Puddybud spews:
Holy bad guests Batman… Ed Schultz is an ASShole like rujax!
So true!
Roger Rabbit spews:
@1 Suffering from post-deleted blues?
Roger Rabbit spews:
@5 Is this the latest wingnut paranoia?
Roger Rabbit spews:
Btw, anytime pussybutt uses the word “true” or its derivatives, watch out! You’ve been warned.
(This is a public service announcement.)
Michael spews:
One of the things I constantly hear from the right is that if they don’t like something they just don’t buy the product, watch the show, listen to the music, and so on. Where if the left doesn’t like something we want the government to intervene and ban things. Given all that, it makes perfect sense then that the government of Idaho would ban the sale of Five Wives Vodka for reasons of “social responsibility.”
Or maybe it’s just another example of the right being full of shit?
dorky dorkman spews:
Depending on how close the race is in Wisconsin, there’s always Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus’ capacious derriere in which to find thousands of extra votes just in the nick of time to ensure Republican victory.
Bob spews:
@ 9
I’m the proud owner of a Polygamy Porter T-shirt.
“Take some home to the wives.”
and
“Why have just one?”
Never had the beer. Had to have the T-shirt.

Puddy,
“How come the most moronic leftists like rujax post more than 2 paragraphs from an article all the time (view the last two open threads) and you turn a blind eye to it? Even Roger DUMB Wabbit follows the rules more than rujax, and rujax is a leftist bottom dweller.”
When I see a clear violation of Fair Use, I zap the comment regardless of who left it. However, my perusal of the comment threads is sporadic. Rujax must be lucky.
Puddybud spews:
Another idiotic post from da DUMB Wabbit! Nope, Puddy follows da rules.
YLB spews:
Has Faux News called it for Walker yet?
Roger Rabbit spews:
@14 Dunno, but exit polls show Obama leading Rmoney, 51-45. (Source: MSNBC)
Roger Rabbit spews:
@13 Just asking a question, spuddy.
Bob spews:
Apparently Bill thinks Hillary’s chances are better against Romney in 2016 then they are after eight years of Obama:
http://www.breitbart.com/Breit.....us-Budgets
Man, he really does not like The One, does he?
Roger Rabbit spews:
@14 Apparently in Fauxworld 40 percent equals “half”:
“Preliminary exit polls conducted for the Associated Press show about half of the voters approve of the changes made under GOP Gov. Scott Walker, who is facing the recall vote for removing the bargaining agreements for most state employees represented by unions. … Roughly 50 percent gave a favorable opinion of unions for government workers. Roughly 40 percent had an unfavorable view of unions.”
But here’s the money quote:
“Voter turnout is reported to be strong. There have been no reports of problems with polling machines but some unconfirmed reports of voting irregularities.”
http://www.foxnews.com/politic.....z1wy6n14dc
Roger Rabbit Commentary: Strong turnout is bad for Walker. And when you hear his supporters claiming “voting irregularities,” you know they’re getting set to spin a Walker defeat.

Roger Rabbit spews:
@17 You can tell how much things have changed when “it’s Clinton’s fault” morphs into “Clinton’s on our side now.”
Hint to Blowhard Bob: The Clintons never liked Obama, so things haven’t changed as much as you believe.
MikeBoyScout spews:
@9 Michael,
What’s the big deal about 5 wives?
Mitt Rmoney, GOP candidate for president of these Christian law abiding states, had a grandfather who had 10 wives. 5 wives is just a warm up in that family. ;-)
Michael spews:
@20
I just think funny that a righty state that’s all about “freedom & liberty” is banning it because of the name.
Bob spews:
US already is in recession.
Obama should extend ALL of the tax cuts.
http://www.cnbc.com/id/47693595
Says Bill Clinton.
Looks like Obama is running against both Hillary AND Romney this year.
Puddybud spews:
Another drone attack takes out a leftist friend. Will the world leftists ban Obummer from the rest of the world when he leave da whitey house?
Internet quote.
Roger Rabbit spews:
Republicans are up to their old dirty tricks:
“From Eau Claire to Beloit, voters across Wisconsin are relaying stories via Twitter, Facebook and online message boards about anonymous “robocalls” from allies of Scott Walker, telling them–incorrectly–that if they signed petitions to recall Governor Walker, their vote in today’s crucial election has been recorded.”
http://www.democraticunderground.com/1002767369
Roger Rabbit Commentary: Republicans do stuff like this because know they can’t win a fair election.
Roger Rabbit spews:
“Yesterday, a group called ‘Concerned Citizens of Waukesha County’ sent an email to reporters calling on the Waukesha County Executive to ban County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus from counting ballots in the election. The group purported to be comprised of Republicans, Democrats and Independents from Waukesha County ….”
http://www.alan.com/2012/06/05.....d-to-vote/
Roger Rabbit Commentary: Hmmm, people in Wisconsin don’t trust Republicans very much, do they? Wonder why?
Roger Rabbit spews:
“That kind of dirty-tricks-you-can-stay home robocall is only too familiar to Maryland voters thanks to political consultant Julius Henson who last week was ordered by a federal judge to pay $1 million dollars to the state for initiating such calls on behalf of failed GOP gubernatorial candidate Bob Ehrlich on election night in 2010.”
http://www.baltimoresun.com/en.....3241.story
Roger Rabbit Commentary: You can always assume two things about GOP dirty tricks: (1) They’ve been done before (no Republican has ever had an original thought), and (2) they’re criminal in nature (that’s why their robocalls, posters, and fliers are always anonymous).
Roger Rabbit spews:
A Milwaukee TV station reports:
“7:02 p.m.
The Journal Sentinel reports that some Milwaukee polling stations are running out of ballots.
6:48 p.m
The Journal Sentinel reports that Kathy Nickolaus appears in charge of Waukesha County’s election.
6:35 p.m
Waukesha County Executive Dan Vrakas told Newsradio 620 WTMJ that clerk Kathy Nickolaus is not in charge of their election reporting.”

Roger Rabbit Commentary: This already looks like an election in the Ukraine.
Puddybud spews:
Leftist led Facebook stock continues to drop. Nothing from the HA leftists!
Roger Rabbit spews:
Here’s a link you can use to follow the Wisconsin election returns. Remember, there are SIX recall elections in Wisconsin tonight.

CBS reports that in their exit poss, 52% of Wisconsin voters support public unions and 42% oppose them.

Roger Rabbit spews:
Looks like the GOP vote suppression machine is running at full RPMs:
“(CBS News) As voters head to the polls Tuesday to decide the fate of Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, reports out of the state suggest that robocalls are being placed informing voters, falsely, they don’t have to vote if they signed the recall petition.
“There have also been reports of mailings going out to voters telling them they can’t vote unless they did so in 2010, and of people going door-to-door telling voters they don’t have to go to the polls if they signed the recall petition, both of which are also untrue.
“On Tuesday, Barrett press secretary Melanie Conklin said … ‘We are very concerned about voter suppression. We have had many, many reports of this.’ …
(Source: CBS News)
Roger Rabbit spews:
We have some initial returns now, but it’s WAY too early to draw any conclusions from the handful of votes reported so far.
In the races for governor, lieutenant governor, and state senate district 13 it’s breaking roughly 58% – 42% for the GOPers (a bit closer in the senate contest), with no returns yet from the other three senate districts. That’s with less than 1% in.
Puddybud spews:
Amazing speech by Joe BiteME…
DUMMOCRAPTS want to be re-engineered.
Kim Jong Chillin spews:
they have a record turnout, and you declare voter supression…LMFAO…
Roger Rabbit spews:
Of course, the dirtiest election dirty trick of all time was pulled off by Byron “Low Tax” Looper, a Republican running for four offices on the same ballot, who shot and killed his state senate opponent so he would be the only candidate on the ballot. Looper was caught, convicted, and is serving life without parole in Tennessee.
Even though Looper was the only candidate on the ballot, he lost that election to a write-in candidate (the victim’s wife) who got 94% of the vote. Thus, Looper also enjoys the distinction of having lost to a write-in candidate by the largest margin in the history of the cosmos.

Roger Rabbit Calls Election For Scott Walker
With about 157,000 votes counted (7% of precincts), Walker leads 58% – 41%, which is very consistent with exit polls that showed about 60% of Wisconsin voters felt recall should be used to remove elected officials only for misconduct, not policy disagreements.
By contrast, the same exit polls showed a majority of Wisconsin voters support public unions, about 52% – 43%.
It seems clear the vote is breaking along the lines of how voters view the recall process, which means Walker is going to get enough independent and Democratic votes to maintain a safe margin throughout the night.
Therefore, I’m calling the election for Walker at this time. I hope the remaining returns prove me wrong.
Kim Jong Chillin spews:
Looks to me like the increased voter turnout favored the republicans.
kinda fucks up your whole theory-n-stuff….
Roger Rabbit spews:
@40 I didn’t buy any Facedud because it’s a lousy company with a weak business model (80% of users never buy from advertisers) and its IPO was grossly overpriced. Based on demonstrated earning ability, FB is worth about $8 a share. Let the lawsuits fly.
Kim Jong Chillin spews:
But I thought the Gov’s recall race was gonna be close?
Wow..I wonder what big fat fuck eddie shultz is gonna do tomorrow…LMFAO>..
Roger Rabbit spews:
@42 Lots of things look to you like whatever you choose to see.
yd spews:
PS: The Race in Wi was not close..Walker Kicked Ass, Government Unions got their asses kicked. Aproximately 40% of Union households in WI voted for Walker. End of story..
Double PS: If you think taking back the Senate with 1 senator was a win, they don’t even go back into session again until next year, and there is a whole other election in November where the landscape will yet again turn.
