DLBottlePlease join us tonight for another evening of electoral politics under the influence at the Seattle Chapter of Drinking liberally. Tonight is the Illinois primary and, in addition to the G.O.P. presidential primary entertainment, there are a number of important primary races that could affect the balance of power in the House.

Seattle DL meets every Tuesday at the Montlake Ale House, 2307 24th Avenue E. Our regular starting time is 8:00pm, but feel free to show up earlier to catch the earliest election returns.

Can’t make it to Seattle? There is also a meeting tonight of the Tri-Cities chapter.

With 231 chapters of Living Liberally, including twelve in Washington state and six more in Oregon, chances are excellent there’s one near you.

    Oops, I didn’t read the post,and I thought the Illinos primary was next week, for some reason. I’ve got class tonight, so I’m a not thinking clearly about anything except the final.

    In a political showdown, the mayor of San Francisco has suspended the city’s elected sheriff and is seeking to oust him because of his guilty plea in a domestic-violence case.

    Mayor Ed Lee said at a 5 p.m. PT (8 p.m. ET) news conference that he would serve Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi with official misconduct charges Wednesday morning. About 30 minutes before, Mirkarimi refused Lee’s earlier ultimatum to resign.

    Mirkarimi, 50, was elected in November took office in January after the abuse claim became public. Last week he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of false imprisonment of his wife, Eliana Lopez, a former Venezuelan TV star, during an argument on New Year’s Eve. Monday he was sentenced to three years’ probation and a year of domestic-violence classes.
