The US presence in Paraguay has been under scrutiny since May 2005 when the country’s Congress agreed to allow 400 American marines to operate there for 18 months in exchange for financial aid.

At the time many viewed the arrival of troops as a sign that Washington was trying to monitor US business interests in neighbouring Bolivia, after the election of Evo Morales, a leftwing leader who promised to nationalise his country’s natural gas industry.

Who says they are one sided? How is this so “well-known”? Libtard morons like Boehlert?

Here’s a wake up call for you P-ASSey (Like P-Diddy). Scott Rasmussen polled America over the past few months. His results consistently showed that a majority believed MSM reporters give Republicans less favorable coverage than Democrats. If you did your homework you’d know these facts. Somehow they continually escape that small Neanderthal sloped cranial orifice you possess.

Or you forgot the Obama’s “boycott” campaign of WFTV, when they asked real questions of Joe Biden and his gaffes?

Fox gives both sides of the story. Only Joe Scarborough is on MSNBC. Where is the counter to Keith I Sucked At ESPN Olbermann or Rachel MadCow Maddow? And those “conservatives” on CNN? Why did Glenn Beck leave?

But you know what? We all know CNN didn’t capture the ratings crown P-ASSey.

If you were paying attention last fall Drew Griffin, CNN reporter, told Sarah Palin that if she had made the Joe Biden “international crisis” comment he would have “never let her get away with it.” Yet the HuffPost blasted Drew Grffin. Now that’s really curious…

“The arrest of and complaint against Gov. Blagojevich raises serious concerns about his ability to effectively represent the people of Illinois. The conduct alleged represents a disgraceful abuse of the public trust. In the interest of the people of Illinois and all Americans, he should resign immediately. Me, End Earmarks. Not the Donkey way. If you remember because Puddy posted it, John I Hate The Marines Murtha received a standing ovation on 2-27-08 at his yearly fundraiser for lobbyists.

Nancy Stretch Pelosi ran on the 2006 platform of ending earmarks. Harry Reid somewhat demurred. But alas, Donkey members know the only way to keep Congress would be to bribe the public with more pork. Cut the pork and say bye-bye goober to your election chances. So $5,453,260,079 in House and Senate Donkey pork for 2008.

If you HAers’ remember, (most don’t though) Republican Senator James DeMint of South Carolina offered a Senate bill amendment on 3-13-08 to impose a one-year earmark moratorium. As always pork beats talk as the amendment lost 29-71.

But then again Congressional Donkey prove they are the pork kings (and queens). In 2008 there were 11,610 projects appropriated. This represents a 337% escalation over the 2,658 appropriated projects in 2007. The $17.2 billion is a 30% escalation over 2007 total of $13.2 billion.

  43. 53

    Roger Rabbit spews:

@36 Typical rightwing “assumed guilty until proven innocent” crap. Cynical, let me ask you something. You keep tell us how much you have invested, and how you’re retired and living in Montana on your invetments, so honestly now, aren’t you glad that Obama instead of McCain will be in charge of the economy 3 weeks from now? I mean, really now, McCain even admits he isn’t interested in economics and doesn’t know anything about it, and with the U.S. and global financial systems falling apart and some pundits speculating we might be on the cliff edge of another Great Depression, deep down inside aren’t you glad that Obama instead of McCain won the election? After all, it was Republican economic policies that brought us to the cliff, so aren’t you secretly glad that Republicans won’t be pushing the economic levers from now on? I sure am! But then, I’m smarter and better informed than you, too — I’m an urbane rabbit, and you’re nothing but a Montana goatfucker.

  48. 60

Earmarks – What a disgusting part of Congress and potentially illegal if the background conversations about them were transparent (which they are not) (and Roger – The totals are irrelevant! It is the process that is the problem!)

The Seattle Times has a very good article at:

    http://seattletimes.nwsource.c.....orm31.html

“Congress this past year said it had cut earmarks dramatically. But The Seattle Times examined the defense bill and found that Congress failed to disclose $3.5 billion of them — 40 percent of the total — because it used a new, more narrow definition of earmark.”

Blagojevich used the same process as ‘Earmarks’ to try to ‘sell’ Obama’s Senate seat but failed in the process because of his lack of experience as a politician to hide his background conversations which are illegal.
