Stamn Stupid: Gas taxes are high in this state because of the political paralysis forced by Tim Eyman and his followers.
The state constitution only allows road building and maintenance to come out of gas taxes, not the general fund like it is in other states.
When people got fed up with do-nothing right-wingers like Eyman, we got a hefty increase in the gas tax. It sure sucks but combine a large backlog of highway projects needed for economic growth with a lack of political will to make true tax reform you get higher gas prices than you would otherwise.
And Americans aren’t greedy – they’re blind to the big picture. They bought into a bill of goods about a ticky-tack house in the burbs turning one day into a tidy cashout. They were willing to drive 40, 50 miles to a job for that. Well that was working out great as long as oil was cheap but those days are gone. Not entirely. It is possible to say that a response is in moderation without looking like a whiner because, of course, sometimes responses DO get caught by the filter. But here we have someone whining that his whining is not showing up and then speculating that it is part of a conspiracy to silence him.
Sure, it is lame, but it serves the purpose of perpetuating the commenter’s victim status. It also helps his ego in demonstrating to himself that he is brave for going behind enemy lines and commenting on a left-leaning website. [Just look at how they treated him! He was censored for bringing the truth!] It’s part of a self-reinforcing cycle: he screws up the “courage” to visit a left-leaning blog and comment; he meets a hostile reaction to his racism and illogic, which makes him feel put-upon and reinforces his bravery; he has a comment caught by the software, which reinforces his victimhood.

As I mentioned in a comment from the other comment thread, the difference between O’Reilly and Olbermann (and in a broader sense, Fox News and other media outlets), is that O’Reilly has been caught a number of times completely making shit up. You insisted some kind of equivalence between the two men, yet you can’t provide a real example of Olbermann doing anything like what O’Reilly has done. You have nothing. Yes, Olbermann is a liberal and O’Reilly is a conservative. So what. They both have their own bias as human beings. The important difference is that one lies and the other doesn’t.
