Bobby Jindal, storyteller

Of course, his whole tale of personal heroism and defiance has since been totally debunked; Jindal’s office now admits that he played no part in the incident, in fact, wasn’t even present at the time, and only heard about it from the Sheriff days afterward.

But… in Jindal’s defense, he does start off this anecdote by saying “let me tell you a story.”  So I suppose he could claim he never intended it to be interpreted as nonfiction.

    Mr. Cynical spews:

Obviously the Fringe Lunatic Left’s strategy is one of sexist and racist attacks of any Conservative female or male who disagree’s with the half-white, half-black guy.
Try to destroy the opponent and then scream Racism when anyone questions your Socialist guy.
Seems to work pretty well politically.
But does little to bring America together.

You KLOWNS are an abhorent flock of poppinjay’s.

  2. 2

    YLB spews:

“let me tell you a story.”

A man (weasel) after Stupes’ own heart.

    What a Republican.

But does little to bring America together.

You don’t want to come together. The stimulus package was 42 percent tax cuts and all that’s acceptable to you is 100 percent.

With you fools it’s always your way or the highway.

  3. 3

    Roger Rabbit spews:

Barely after his debut on the national stage, Jindal is quickly getting a reputation as a fibber. This will destroy him. If there’s anyone voters don’t trust it’s a lying politician.

  4. 4

    Roger Rabbit spews:

@1 What are these histrionics relevant to, Cyn? Can you explain how your assertions exonerate Bobby “Caught-Lying-Again” Jindal?

  5. 5

    Roger Rabbit spews:

Let’s see. Between the GOP’s two hottest up-and-comers, one is a compulsive fibber and the other has flypaper fingers. Doesn’t look like a party with much of a future.

  6. 6

    Czechsaaz spews:

    @1. Coming unhinged again Cyn?

Say that Jindal was named James, was white, and a Democrat. Is it only under those circumstances that it would be O.K. to jump all over somebody who went on national television and told a story that was demonstrably false?

TPM alluded to my thoughts earlier. Why, if you have good ideas or policies to tell the American people, do you have to tell a lie to get it across? Would Jindal’s speach have been more or less interesting without the annecdotal embellishment (errr….LIE!)? Not really. But by telling the lie, the whole thing is discredited.

Rising young star of the Republican party. Good Job!

  7. 7

    correctnotright spews:

Move along, nothing to see here. Just another lying Republican. Jindal had nothing useful to say – so he lied. Reminds me of the tall tales Reagan used to tell – as if anecdotes can replace facts and lies about “heroic americans” can somehow make it true.

Why is it that Republians have to lie to make an inpression? Is the truth that tough for them to handle?

  8. 8

    correctnotright spews:

@1: Can anyone figure out what the insane person at #1 is bleating about?

Here is a hint cynical, using lies to “refute or rebut” the President won’t work. It ruins the credibility of the speaker and what they are trying to say. The fact that Jindal had to stoop to a lie shows how little real intellectual argument he has.

Let me tell you a story….Republicans lie repeatly because the truth is too much for them to handle.

I am still wating for Puddy to “prove” that Paulson, Cheney, Bush and Rush Limbaugh are really democrats. Darn! Those facts have such a pesky liberal bias….

  9. 9

    Jim, a genuine musician spews:

Nobody needs to do what you are describing as long as you guys have Jindal carrying the mail.

Jim, still never having attempted to operate a bagpipe assembly.

  10. 11

    janet s spews:

Too bad you all are wrong. Jindal wasn’t in New Orleans the day after the hurricane, but he was the day after that, when the levees gave way and flooded the city. (Yes, the damage was caused by corruption in a Democratic regime cutting corners on public projects, not by the hurricane.)

Reporting in the days after the storm was awful. Remember when the hysterical mainstream media types were shouting about bodies piling up in the sports stadium? Turned out to be hogwash. What about the reports of gunshots at rescue crews? Nothing to that either.

So, not having a report that Jindal was not in the area does not mean he wasn’t, just that it wasn’t reported. Why not ask someone who was there?

  11. 12

    czechsaaz spews:

Damnit Janet (bet you’ve never heard that before!)

No one on this forum has implied he wasn’t in the state. I don’t care if he was or wasn’t. He WAS NOT, now by his staff’s admission, ANYWHERE NEAR Sherriff Hill’s office at the time the story allegedly took place.

TPM has a further good post on this. We, myself included, often hear a great or funny story that happened to someone and later retell it like, say, over drinks, as if we are the subjects. But few are so stupid to tell a fake story on National Television.

Skin color and Jindal was in the state at the time, that’s your defense? I’ll pose the question in a different way. If a fake story was told on TV by Governor Gregoire, would no one jump on it ’cause she’s white? Sounds preposterous doesn’t it? But that’s how you sound. Totally and utterly preposterous!

  12. 13

    Janet S's conscience spews:

Aw, come on, Janet. Jindal wasn’t there. That’s an established fact. He lied about his role — and he’s done that more than once.

If you’re going to defend him why don’t you do so in a way that is factually defensible? And why dig yourself even further in a hole by taunting folks with, “Too bad you are all wrong.”

Janet, if you want to be an effective advocate for conservative causes you’re going to need to not look like someone who will do and say whatever it takes to score a point regardless of whether you are speaking truthfully.

Sometimes I get really embarrassed being your conscience.

    manoftruth spews:

obama’s story is a lie too, he wasnt even born in this country, so i guess everyone lies , u fucking yentels.

  14. 16

    Chris Stefan spews:

manoflies read it on WorldNutDaily so it must be true!

Besides even if Obama had been born in Soviet Russia or Red China it wouldn’t make a damn bit of difference since his mother is a US Citizen.

  15. 17

    The Truth spews:

As a Democrat would say why wasn’t he working at the store.

Bobby story is like old Bill Clinton story’s on the past.

No big deal. Is attacking him going to pay your house payment next month, pay your food bill or OMG pay your Fed taxes in April.

  16. 18

    dutch spews:

    Absolutely despicable…just talk to
Bill ” I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky” Clinton or
Christine “We do not have a budget deficit” Gregoire or on the lighter side
Barack “My grandfather was one of the liberators of Auschwitz” Obama and let’s not forget
David “Hypocrisy is my middle name” Goldstein

  17. 19

    manoftruth spews:

moron, the requirement is a “natural born citizen” idiot,, typical of commies that u think u can always lie because u have the jew controlled media in your corner…fuckhead, go eat ur lox and bagles

  18. 21

    K spews:

And what is your souorce of information, MOT. The Hawaii birth certificate has been much unspected. What do you have to refute it?

  19. 22

    Wise Mom spews:

Manotruth, I appreciate your argument but I’m more concerned about our president being a space alien.

I believe that the leader of the world’s last superpower should be human. I don’t care if that isn’t explicitly stated in the constitution. Given everything else going on we don’t need a space alien ruining our human way of life.

I’m sure Janet S would agree with me on that one.

  20. 23

    steve spews:

Trolls were in denial about Limbaugh’s disire to see America go down the tubes for political gain. I see that Limbaugh told the CPAC, “I want Barack Obama to fail”. Republicans – party before country.

What’s up with Republicans and porn? A recent study shows that, “Eight of the top 10 pornography consuming states gave their electoral votes to John McCain in last year’s presidential election – Florida and Hawaii were the exceptions. While six out of the lowest 10 favoured Barack Obama.”

Heh- The party of family values.

@24: Because they got caught doing something they shouldn’t have been on the University computer and had to come up with a cover story, fast.

  22. 27

The Guy With No Car spews:

I just love that trolls and wingnuts push that “Obama is not a citizen” button, over and over and over again, almost as if it were true.

I have heard that that if you place electrodes into a monkey’s brain so that when they press a button their pleasure center is stimlated, they will sit there and press that botton over and over again to the exclusion of everything else. In a cage with plenty of food, they will starve because they’re pressing the button and ignoring the food. Sex means nothing to them as long as they can press the button. In fact, if you turn off the stimulation they’ll still sit there and press the button, hoping for one more buzz.

One wonders what kind of endorphins are released in conservative brains by pushing the “Obama isn’t a citizen” button. (Yes, I’m stipulating that the Flying Spaghetti Monster gave even conservatives brains. It’s not His fault, praise His noodly appendages, if they choose not to use them.)

    Richard Pope spews:

I would also be willing to bet that Sheriff Harry Lee did not have a “makeshift office” either. Somehow I think the regular Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office HQ made it through Hurricane Katrina just fine, with no flooding or noticeable wind damage.
