Later this month is the 400th anniversary of the Defenestration of Prague. I have trouble wrapping my head around the 30 Years’ War, let alone the Holy Roman Empire. It’s tough to imagine the religious fervor. I don’t think anyone who participated could understand the horror they were unleashing.

The world seems very very different from ours. And yet 400 years seems like not much time at all.

Look, we can’t have a head tax, because then there will be fewer heads. It’s Econ 101. Just like how the so called death tax causes there to be fewer so called deaths. What, do you want more not dead headless people? Vote no to prevent Seattle from becoming the new Sleepy Hollow. Econ 101.

There are a lot of things more important about the Cohen bribery scandals. But Essential Consultants? That’s the name of your evil scheme. I know that the goal was to fly under the RADAR. But so much else was designed to get caught. Seriously has there been a more boringly named GOP effort to destroy the Republic since the Enterprise?

It’s weird that people who spent 8 years looking for Obama’s Katrina aren’t saying the same for Trump. I mean Puerto Rico is still suffering from Trump’s actions. The continued suffering of our fellow citizens is a choice. The same people who thought that everything Obama did was as bad as Katrina sure are missing their chance.

This week Seattle nice died. Mark your calendars. It wasn’t when we stole the land from the people who already lived here. It wasn’t when we restricted where Native Americans and African Americans could live. It wasn’t when we let Skid Row develop. It wasn’t when we mostly went along with Japanese internment. It wasn’t several decades of just being shit to anyone who had any connection to California. It wasn’t letting the current homelessness crisis develop.

So, Donald Trump wrote the letter saying that Donald Trump is the healthiest person who ever lived. I can’t exactly explain why he would lie about his health. I think in general it’s probably not a good idea to speculate on his health. I mean sure, his campaign ran ads speculating about Hillary Clinton’s health. Clearly he is hiding something.

So, I guess a comic made some jokes at the White House Correspondents Dinner. Very offensive. I for one am sure that nobody who works in the Trump White House has ever heard vulgarity or insult.

Seriously though, I think the dinner is pretty gross as a concept. Oh we’re chummy buddy buddy over here. That should definitely be our job. I guess the White House correspondents should do their jobs better before they throw themselves a party.

I see we’re into the redemption phase of the me to movement. It seems pretty quick. I don’t know the correct amount of time, but even as someone who believes in second chances, this seems rushed. Especially since most people haven’t faced any legal punishment.

Also, I’m not seeing any steps that people are taking to prevent future harassment and assault by people credibly accused of past bad acts. No clearly laying out future consequences if they keep acting the same. Maybe that’s impossible, but then all the more reason not to start the redemption tour.

Did you enjoy the weather this weekend? Me too. It was grand. I hope it’s good for a while. I could do with less foot traffic in places I frequent even when it’s a bit gloomy.

I don’t have anything to read over the weekend! I have several books on hold at the library, so I don’t want to start something that will take me a long time to read. The Grant biography that everyone says is great will have to wait. Anyone reading something light breezy that would be available at the Central Library or Elliott Bay Books?

I don’t know enough about peremptory challenges. But it seems like this is a good rule. Or at least an improvement. Here’s hoping it makes juries more diverse.

I was unaware that there is an Eye of the Tiger PAC. Or that it’s run by Steve Scalise. Or that it had given money to Dino Rossi.

But back to Eye of the Tiger PAC! Do you have to get permission when you use a song? PAC changes the meaning of a words before it more quickly than anything else I can think of. Survivor are from Chicago, and Eye of the Tiger is used in Rocky III, but Scalise is from Louisiana.

I don’t know the rules for police officers who aren’t on the job. So I won’t say what the punishment should be for a cop ignoring a hate crime while they’re working on something else (video may autoplay). But morally, come the fuck on. Do better.
