I love taking the bus. Last night coming home from Drinking Liberally, it was the best! A group of 50 something women having a night on the town got on and were aggressively trying to flirt with the bus driver. “Oh he’s my favorite driver, he can take me anywhere.” Delightful.

Also, and this was 10:30, some teens hop on. Too much time in the summer, but good for them finding things to do. Being able to hang out. Taking the free for them bus Downtown.

Finally some dang rain. It was drizzling in Downtown Seattle earlier today when I was walking to work. It’s been more than a month, so good. I hope we can stay cool and that some of the plants can get a drink. Ideally Seattle summer would have one good rainy day a week.

Oh goodness. Traffic is going to be a mess in Seattle this weekend. But I hope Taylor Swift’s fans have a blast. And Capitol Hill Block Party goers have a blast. And Bite of Seattle people enjoy it. Some places will be bad to drive and public transportation might be the least comfortable since the pandemic. But you man what a vibrant city.

Where the fuck are the good cops we keep hearing about? Seattle Police have a goddam gravestone of someone they killed in their breakroom. No good cop saw it and put it in the trash? This isn’t the heat of the moment, adrenaline pumping, someone said they saw a weapon; This is calmly mocking a dead kid. Day after day after day after fucking day.

And the Trump flag. Man was being sued for sexually assault at the time of the video. Probably why they stopped investing adult rape. These pieces of shit were waiving the adult rapist flag. In a city that despises him that they swore to protect and serve.

The city of Seattle has had years to figure out ways to deal with homelessness in SoDo ahead of the All Star Game. Really could have got ahead of things, and figured out how to get people housed. Instead, last minute sweeps. Predictable, but not necessary.

We’ll have chances in the future to do this better, but I fear that we won’t. And in any case, this was squandered.

Carmen Best isn’t going to face any consequences for dishonest and inaccurate statements made during CHOP. And that stinks. But maybe the fact that she did lie means don’t have her on TV. Maybe there should be more caveats when you interview her.
