Good morning from I forgot I was doing an open thread until I was almost at work. Take one off for the holiday, and suddenly you forgot what you do on your commute. Is it too early to tell people to wash their hands? Ot they can get vaccinated for COVID-19 and the flu while they’re at it?
Wednesday Open Thread!!!
– Seattle has a budget. Where are the impact fees? Guys, where are the impact fees?
– Gosh, I don’t think mailing white powder to election offices when they’re counting votes is a good idea.
– Hey, get vaccinated or boosted if you’re eligible. And hey, some free testing kits. Might as well take advantage of that. And get a flu shot while you’re making an appointment. Someone has already died of the flu in Washington, so the sooner the better.

Listen, every city needs a crank or two on the City Council. I would prefer they be cranks in the Sawant mold of far left politics than the Rob Saka mold of anti-transit hyperbole masked as immigrant friendly language. He had to drive a slightly different route to pick up his kids and he compared it to the border wall.
The H line is great, and guy is complaining that he has to go around the block. And now he’ll be on the City Council for 4 years. I am sure that the people who hated Sawant’s hyperbolic statements will push back just as hard on this.
Anyway, please wash your hands right now. And get vaccinated or boosted if you’re eligible.

– Have you been seeing bicycle memorials around town? Here’s what that’s about. Also, oof and some hope from that map.
– Shotspotter is a waste of money and time. If we have the money and staff hours to send police on wild goose chases, I assume we won’t hear about shortages any more.
– Someone take away his phone, or his drugs, or his companies.
– Anyway, please wash your hands right now and get vaccinated or boosted if you’re eligible. Book that appointment, and get the flu shot while you’re at it. Easy.

I don’t think people trying to push their way onto light rail trains needs a Marxist analysis. But it certainly is annoying. Just, like, look into the train before crowding to the door. It isn’t that hard even when it’s crowded.
Anyway, please wash your hands right now and get vaccinated or boosted if you’re eligible.
Monday Open Thread
– I support the Providence nurses.
– Burien, man. What are you doing? Just, just take the money. Also, I don’t see how the city manager gets through this.
– Disappointing to see Gluesenkamp Perez and Schrier on the list of people who voted to censure Representative Talib.
– Hey, hey you. Wash your filthy hands right now. Right now. And get vaccinated or boosted if you’re eligible. Pair it with your flu shot. Go make that appointment today!
Wednesday Open Thread
It looks like the election was good for Democrats. But Seattle will get more conservative. At least the housing levy passed easily.

Tomorrow is the last day to get your ballot postmarked or dropped off. City, county and school board elections are super important. The guy with the Blue Lives Matter bumper sticker you passed last night? He’s voted. The lady who came to school board meetings to yell about trans kids? She voted the day she got her ballot. But their vote counts the same as yours, so let’s elect the best people.
Anyway, please wash your hands right now and get vaccinated or boosted if you’re eligible.
Friday!
You guys. You guys. The Needling is so great right now. Satire is very difficult. They are nailing the hell out of it.
Like, I know some of you still like The Onion, but man has it declined. And it has many more possible targets than The Needling. I don’t know what I’m saying here other than I appreciate them.
Anyway, please wash your hands right now and get vaccinated or boosted if you’re eligible.
Wednesday Open Thread
– I support both an art district and more streetcars better connected, but I don’t know that the second is the key to making the first work.
– Looks like the link has finally been found.
– Seattle impounding people’s cars when those cars are their only home is heart breaking.
– Hey! Wash your hands right now. And how about you get vaccinated or boosted if you’re eligible.
Monday Open Thread
Hey, get vaccinated or boosted if you’re eligible.
I know I usually put it at the end of these, and maybe it’s an after thought. But it’s a good thing to do. I got mine over the weekend and no side effects this time.
Friday!
Having trouble figuring out who to vote for? Here are some resources.
– At Publocola they interviewed the City Council candidates.
– So did the Hacks and Wonks podcast.
– But maybe you want to know about other elections? The Stranger has you covered with their endorsements.
– Fuse has a good voter guide no matter where in the state you live.
Wednesday Open Thread
– This is a bit old, but oof Mayor Harrell’s budget.
– There was a time in my life that I biked around East Marginal Way a lot. Not sure if I had ever noticed those tracks in use.
– Responsible gun ownership from the Washington state Republicans.
– Impotrant to know this time of the year who is a Weird Barbie and who is just a Seattle woman.
– You. Yeah you. Wash your goddam hands. And then make yourself an appointment to get vaccinated or boosted. And maybe throw in a flu shot as long as you’re there.

Technically still Monday. It counts.

Everyone, please look for your ballot. It should be in the mail. Soon you’ll start to see social media pieces where someone has already voted when you don’t even have your ballot yet. So you start to freak out. What if I never vote again, you think to yourself. But then you get it, and remember to vote by November 7.
Anyway, please wash your hands right now and get vaccinated or boosted if you’re eligible.
