This poll from Marist makes eight consecutive polls in which Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) has the lead over Dino Rossi (R), even if her 48% to 47% lead is smallish.
I do a more detailed analysis of the poll, and an analysis using all nine October polls, at Hominid Views.
Man, after all this number crunching and writing…I needs me a drink!

48/47 is really, really close. the only thing closer is the new liberty mutual commercial where they get it exactly fitty/fitty on the number of white/black in the ad. good work liberty, that took on lot of planning.

How dare you quote some Marxist poll in our blessed U.S of A. Have you no shame?
Glenno spews:
Pyrite,
Only 21% Republican? Rossi is going to win with 52 or 53 percent of the vote…
BTW…Wait the last debate is figured into the polls….
Emily Litela spews:
re 3: Do you think that the Murray campaign might run some ads pointing out that the Rossinator’s ad about the stimulus not creating jobs is a lie?
That’s what the Seattle Times said. They said Rossi’s a liar.

Michael spews:
I totally read it as Marxist not Marist, when I first saw the headline. I thought it was going to be a Daily Kos poll or something.
John spews:
re 3: Glenno, both the Democratic percentage and the Republican percentage is too low, and the Independent percentage is way too high. So I don’t think this poll overrepresents Murry’s percentage — if anything, it underrepresents it.

Boeing drops bomb in Senate race

Good timing!
Mr. Cynical spews:
Darryl–
I think the race is tightening a bit from all the phone-calling I have been doing with friends…especially young people. Lot’s of ImamObaMao voters are disgruntled and will be taking it out on Murray. I still don’t think Rossi has quite enough juice to get over the line…but it will not be a double-digit Murray win as some of your KLOWNmates have dreamt about.
BTW, thanks for doing this. It’s interesting. Poll results shift based on underlying assumptions like % R, % D and % I.
Turnout will be critical as always….and type of turnout.
Mr. Cynical spews:
Murray does’t have SOME responsibility for ObamaCare. She was the deciding vote!!
Murray has 100% responsibility for ObamaCare.
It is semi-watered down comments like this by Rossi that is hard to figure. I guess he is just a nice guy and wants to somewhat let Patty off the hook.
The bottom-line is if on 12/21/09 Murray voted NO..ObamaCare would not have passed. PERIOD.
Boeing is backtracking out of fear the Democrats will punish them for telling the truth.
Emily Litela spews:
re 12: Murray has total responsibility for enabling millions of poor American to obtain health care
What a shameful legacy!
rhp6033 spews:
Funny thing, the interview I heard on the radio yesterday morning with the Boeing representative denied that the increase in contributions had anything to do with the health care legislation. The Boeing rep said “this is something we’ve been looking at for a long time, and we need to cut costs to be competative.”
But the newspaper articles all say Boeing is blaming the health care legislation.
Maybe someone didn’t get the correct talking points in time?
Also, I usually get Boeing press releases in my e-mail. Multiple e-mails every day, usually touting some milestone reached in some program or another, or the company’s securing of some defense contract (or continuation thereaof), no matter how big or small. But on this issue – nothing. Maybe they are trying to keep their accountability for these claims limited?
rhp6033 spews:
Even NPR yesterday was reporting that “recent polls over the last few weeks” have shown the Murray-Rossi debate to be a “dead heat”. At the time, I wondered what they were talking about. A more accurate comment would have been that the race is close, but Murray has been pulling ahead in recent polling.
Of course, I don’t think I’ve ever seen as many pro-Rossi ads on TV as I’ve seen over the past week. Looks like they cornered the entire media buy for the next two weeks. Even my Republican friends are finding it annoying.
Last night I got a call during dinner from a pollster, who wanted to take about “twenty minutes” of my time to get my opinion, starting with the Murray-Rossi race. I wouldn’t have minded participating, except we had the entire family together for dinner (a rare occassion these days), so I told her I’d pass this time.

you’re missing the point, miss litela. i’d pay a little bit if they wanted to put anyone who cannot afford ins on medicare. instead, what they’ve done, is set the stage so that my current private ins will fold and i’ll be under government care. i have a right to not be part of a government run healthcare program.
ps, in europe the wealrhy opt out of waiting for care and pay privately. what a surprise.
Scott Olson spews:
Goldy – Are you just going to ignore this poll (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/.....68509.html) so it doesn’t throw off your talking point?
Darryl spews:
Scott Olson,
First, it isn’t Goldy who posted this poll.
And as I have stated before, I am not including polls released by candidates/parties. They are a biased sample of all polls, because only polls that favor the candidate are released. (So, for example, the NRSC could have done 50 polls and have only released the one that shows Rossi ahead). This policy applies to such polls for either candidate (see, for example, my footnote on this post, pointing out that I removed a DSCC poll from a graph where I had accidentally included it).

daryl, he just figures you’re goldy’s lackey.
Nick spews:
It seems so odd to me that Murray would only be winning among likely voters in King County by a 57-40 margin.
So apparently, Murray’s percentage is going to go down by nearly 2% and Rossi’s is going to increase a whopping 13%.
ld spews:
Which shows you for her incumbency, and what you all believe to be Rossi’s bad bad bad, how tough Nov 2nd will be, and how failed the Obama policies and all who voted for them have been in America

No it doesn’t you moron! It simply show he didn’t read the byline.
Just like your inability to spell and punctuate a proper name shows that you border on illiteracy.
