For the second year in a row the Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza has named HA to his list of best state political blogs. A big thanks to you loyal readers who apparently lobbied on our behalf.
Washington
Horses Ass
Strange Bedfellows (Seattle Post Intelligencer)
Politics Northwest (Seattle Times)
The Petri Dish (Everett Herald)
Political Buzz (Tacoma News Tribune)
Northwest Progressive Institute Advocate
You’ll notice HA is listed in bold, at the top of the list. According to Cillizza:
In a state where one blog was far and away the most recommended by Fix readers, we have noted it by bolding the name of the blog.
Eat my dust, newspaper blogs!
But considering all the guff I get about the unserious name of my blog (yes, I’m talking to you John Carlson), I’m perhaps most proud of making a second, even more exclusive list:
The best named blogs on the list: Doc’s Political Parlor & Lawn Mower Repair (Ala.), Rum, Romanism, Rebellion (Ariz.), My Left Nutmeg (Conn.), The Old River Road (La.), Writes Like She Talks (Ohio), Not Larry Sabato (Va.) and Horses Ass (Wash.)
A horse’s ass by any other name would smell as… well… you get the point.

Congratulations!!
YellowPup spews:
Yes, congratulations Goldy. Far and away the best in the state/local liberal talk business.
proud leftist spews:
Wow. Outstanding. Congratulations, Goldy. A fine reward for your entrepreneurship. Take that, all you trolls who say that Goldy doesn’t have regular work. How many of you have received national recognition for anything you’ve done?

Time to raise your ad rates!

And to think Pubbyudub and Mr KliniKal are making HA more marketable.

Keep up the good work Stupes and Mr KKK!
And congrats Goldy!

YAYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!

Congrats Goldy and all the front-page contributors.
Rick D. spews:
I guess now all that’s left (there’s a pun there somewhere i.e. Meager pickings) is to become gainfully employed in the near future, Goldy. Time to be an adult now that the Washington Compost has recognized your backwater blog with half the traffic of SP.
…afterall, isn’t 3 years sucking off the Gubmint teat long enough?
Mr. Cynical spews:
KLOWNS giving the biggest KLOWN award.
Need to put that perspective on it.
That said, Goldy certainly pushes his Atheist Progressive agenda better than any other KLOWN.
Not sure if that is worthy of congratulations….or pity.
Mr. Cynical spews:
Goldy–
As the most outstanding Blogger, I’m wondering if you noticed this about Fargo, ND and the horrible floods. Fargo, ND, amazed me in not
what we saw, but what we didn’t see…
Need to reflect on this and compare it with other disasters.
Mr. Cynical spews:
And for Kountry Klubber steve (hope you look at this before diving into the Martini’s while watching the Master’s at your Kountry Klub!):

Hey Rog–
My Wells Fargo is up 25.3% this AM!
Too bad you were too busy wishing me ill-will to invest yourself..you silly Wabbit!
See Rog, envy and wishing others poorly is a waste of time. Grow the pie…and participate. It’s the American way!!
Politically Incorrect spews:
Do you make any money doing this gig, Goldy?
YLB spews:
Congrats Goldy.
correctnotright spews:
@11: Thanks for demonstrating how stupid you are:
We didn’t see people on rooftops because people had much more advance notice of a river flooding – as opposed to dikes giving way and areas that are below sealevel.
You fool – you don’t even read the pathetic tripe you are throwing out there. It makes no sense and there are few parallels between the two situations.
How many sand bags does it take to keep a dike from flowing over? It can’t be done. People were on rooftops because they could not get out, there was a hurricane and the dikes failed – none of which are the case in ND.
Ignorant fools make up crap like this to fool other ignorant fools like Klynical.
correctnotright spews:
@13: Where is the fool comment about the stock market being up today – and how it hates Obama?
You freekin’ hypocrite!
czechsaaz@hotmail.com spews:
@12
Pretty much every time you quote Rasmussen, I’m going to forced to slap you down, AGAIN!
March 1st, 2009 Strongly Disapprove = 30%
Today, February 9th, 2009 Strongly Disapprove = 29%
Whoa, hang on, what? The strongly disapprove number is going down? But, But, But, it doesn’t matter, Obama’s numbers are tanking. Cynical says so!
Meanwhile, the aggregate approval/disaproval number overall is +11% but I know you NEED to ignore that number or your worldview will be crushed.
Funny how the “strongly Disapprove” number is running right along with the kool-aid drinking “Strongly Approve” numbers in the death throws of Bush the younger’s administration.
Speaking of Kool-Aid, FoxSports yesterday ran a poll of how many games the Mariners would win this season. 26% said 90+. Y’all are on drugs, or don’t understand baseball, or can’t be honest about your home team. 90 wins would put them in the division race in September and in the wildcard race until about the final week. Anyone honestly expect that? 75 wins for this club would be impressive. Totally off-topic but it proves the point that stupid people are willing to say stupid things to pollsters.
Mr. Cynical spews:
cnr–
All I’m doing is looking for opportunities to make wise Short-term investments…as the long-term looks bleak. When doing this, it is important to look at Industries that are overly beat down and pick the best in that industry and patiently wait.
Obama is a long-term liability to the market. But the market, despite Obama’s Socialist Agenda, will still rally at times. It never goes straight up or straight down.
Look at it like walking thru a gold mine…if you look hard enough, you will eventually find a nugget.
You seem so jealous when others prosper. I can dislike Obama and his policies yet still make money. They are mutually exclusive cnr.
Rather than throw spears at those who participate, you ought to be grateful. Hey, taxes on ST Capital Gains is 35% for me.
You’re welcome!
Mr. Cynical spews:
czech–
Take a look at the chart of Strong Approval vs. Strong Disapproval since Inauguration and tell me Obama hasn’t lost a lot of political capital..
http://www.rasmussenreports.co.....cking_poll
Obviously Republicans gave him a chance based on his campaign rhetoric. As Obama started taking actions in conflict with promises (spending & deficit)…that support eroded greatly. There are still folks in the middle that want things to get better and HOPE Obama will make their lives better. It’s mighty thin support that could flip if we are attacked by terrorists or if some scandal surfaces…or something as simple as Obama and his Notre Dame address when Obama’s actions are Pro-Abortion.
I know you KLOWNS still think you won.
Really?? What have you won?

@13 Yet another after the fact, bullshit Wells Fargo trade announcement by our resident narcissist, Mr. Klynical. Be sure to remember to bring your trade confirmation slips to lunch with GBS and the Oreo. Like GBS said, no trade confirmations, no lunch with Mr. Klynical. Mr. Klynical will be dining alone that day, I’m sure.
Puddybud, Hey it's the new year... spews:
The Best of Leftist Blogs? If so good job Goldy.
Steve spews:
@21 Only in Puddyworld does a market rally reflect badly on a Democrat president. Please tell us, Puddy, where was the DOW in January, 2001? Where was it in January, 2009? Yup, in Puddyworld the markets tanking on a Republican president’s watch is good, rallying on a Democrat president’s watch is bad. Good fucking grief! Get a grip, man.
Roger Rabbit spews:
Goldy, as I’ve argued before, you should change the name of your blog to
Horsesderriere.org
This would give it a snob catchet, but it would still smell like a horse’s butt — you can have the best of both worlds!
czechsaaz@hotmail.com spews:
@20
You mean Obama’s numbers were huge on election day and then declined? I’m stunned. Well THAT’s never happened to a president. You my friend, MFO for today!!!
Still, with all the crap the right has tried to sling, 1% drop in strong disapprove, during the bailout rollout, during the AIG bonus flap, during the Obama went to Europe and acted un’merckin’ nonsense speaks volumes.
You gave it your best shot, threw a lot of sh** and nothing really stuck. Sucks to be you.
YLB spews:
Stupes’ hand was rubbed bald like a bald tire many, many years ago.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@9 I don’t see SP on that list, or on any other list; and as for SP’s “traffic,” has it ever occurred to you that people go there to amuse themselves by watching you circle-jerkers pull on each other’s wangs? Peep shows are popular too, get my drift?
Troll spews:
Goldy and I couldn’t have done it without all of you, our readers. Thank you.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@11 We do, however, see conservative Republicans collecting their federal flood insurance checks* and then using OPM** to rebuild in the flood plain so they can get flooded out again next year.

Roger Rabbit spews:
@13 Everything’s up this morning, C. I’m afraid I’m too busy counting MY stock market gains to have any time for you right now. I’ll get back to you later.
Roger Rabbit spews:
I love to watch oil prices go back up! On a whole bunch of levels. I have oilfield stocks coming out of my ears. Tra-la-la! And when oil gets too expensive for you stupid humans to burn in your cars, you won’t be running over the innocent rabbits peacefully minding their own business in the middle of Aurora Avenue anymore.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@12 Those are pretty amazing numbers, C. What’s amazing is how steady they are. About 34% of Americans are rightwing Republicans. About 34% are smokers. About 34% vote for the likes of Crasswell, McGavick, and Motherbeater Irons. About 34% think the earth is 6,000 years old, is flat, and the sun revolves around it. About 34% ceased paying attention in class and stopped learning anything after 3rd grade. About 34% work in low-paying, dead-end jobs and place all their hopes for the future on lottery tickets. I’ll bet there are some correlations here.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@25 If you wanna make money just short Republicans when they’re in office.
Roger Rabbit spews:
No, on second thought, short everything when Republicans are in office. That’ll do it.
Tlazolteotl spews:
I hear that Klan hoods make pretty good sandbags.
Anyway, congratulations, Goldy, even though Chris Cillizza is a tool.
YLB spews:
We got our country back from a greed-crazed, power-mad cabal. Now it’s up to all of us, like FDR said, to make Obama do the things we need to have done.
Politics is the art of the possible and we have to make it possible for Obama to be a true progressive. We still have a lot of work to do. It never stops.
Rick D. spews:
…Well, I guess now we all know what gets discussed at the weekly Drinking liberally meetings. Thanks for exposing that dirty little secret.

Mr. Cynical @11
What’s the difference in the situations between Fargo & New Orleans? Well, for one, all that bad stuff happened on YOUR guy’s watch.
A lot of bad stuff happened while the previous administration was in office, fiddling while N.O. drowned, but the new guy did all the right things and everything went smoothly.
That makes a LOT more sense than the sublime racism inherent in what you WANTED the answers to be, now doesn’t it?
Things are running a lot better now that the adults are back in charge.
Mr. Cynical spews:
Seattle Mike–
Obama has done nothing for Fargo…

Would you say that George W. Bush was a “long-term liability to the market?” What were the opening and closing Russell 200 numbers of his tenure (since the Dow is a trerrible measure of far too few companies)?
What about Clinton’s?
How “long” you would speculate that Obama’s “long-term liability” will last, if he is presednet only for the two terms currently possible? Are you going to claim that this liability extends longer?
Especially since you offer ZERO support for your opinion, I can’t even digest your comment in this regard without a LOT more clarification.

You should look at a different pollster sometime. It might open your eyes.
But THIS?
What is “obvious” about the initial numbers was that Barack Obama was very popular, and that John McCain became less and less so as time went on.
What is “obvious” about the current numbers are two things:
1. That Obama has lost support among Republicans who have been told by their leadership that Obama is to be opposed tooth and nail, and who are mounting a strange propaganda campaign against him that drags out every tired old Republican meme of the last thirty years, which somehow still convinces the base.
2. Independents have not been swayed at all by the aforementioned strange Republican smear campaign. They still support president Barack Hussein Obama by healthy and unshrinking margins.
However, I now fear for the lives and safety of census-takers who will no doubt be shot at by Republican troglodytes whipped into a frenzy by Rush, Michael Steele, et. al.
